If science and religion are both about discovering the 'truth', then there's really no real reason for either sides to invalidate the other. Religion cannot function without science because there would be those that claim they speak the word of God. But science cannot function without religion either because there would be those that claim 'that's scientifically proven'. Scientific theories are constantly being implemented, approved and disproved, so I'd say more but I've run out of words lol

I should start an informal Hitchens "book club" on my campus. I feel an intellectual kinship with those who admire Hitchens. I don't even describe myself as an atheist ... yet. But I can say I've dispensed with religions. There may very well be a power behind this universe, but it is ridiculous to think that any human being is close personal friends with said power.

I have now watched a lot of Christopher Hitchens on youtube. Actually his arguments are the same in a lot of them. This is not a bad thing it just makes his rational viewpoint standout more. I recommend a 10 part video entitled "Christopher Hitchens & Tony Jones"

Great video made and of course subscribed. God is not great - a great book though if you like to strengthen this one id recommend Dawnkins' 'the god delusion'. Other Hitchens' books the Trial of Kissinger is also good but unless you have no prevoius knowledge of him your going to be lost. Just halfway though hitch-22 and so far so good. again nice video and hope for another one =)

Pick up your closest Bible - open to Joshua (5th book), go to 10:13 and read that.... in order for the Sun and Moon to stop moving for Joshua to slay the enemies of Israel a bit longer, the Earth would have to stop rotating... which means catastrophic consequences for life on earth. What is more plausible - God fixed everything to make it 'work' or the 'word of God' and consequently God, is a complete human construct created by scared uneducated humans living in a corner of this vast Universe.

I struggle with these questions myself. However; life (people) are complicated; all the series of events that lead up to something

happening that causes suffering can't all be

taken into consideration because you simply can't be sure of whats true or not or what is factual or not. You can only be reasonably sure of some things.

It doesn't make things easier or prove anything though. If God is not all good that would be a very human explanation. However-
