I always drop this song when I dj. The kids don't know what to make of it. It sounds like it could have been produced any year between 1979-2009. Incredibly bare and intuitive bass-playing, great guitar sound, catchy vocals. And outta there in 2.30 mins. Classic pop! Loved it the first time I heard it and still love it.

yeah, kinda puts things into perspective for me personally. when i'm pissed, i let it show... infact, a lot of my feelings show, but most times I'm pretty happy. Now looking at Hester and what you said about those that hide pain, I kinda think that maybe it's not so bad to let it show or at least speak about it.

I found something the other day in my house that Paul gave me some years ago - a drum skin of his. He'd written on it too - very sad feeling to see it and his writing still around when he's not.

Fantastic. Love this. The 4 track EP it was on is a favourite and one day when I get back to Melbourne, I am going to pump it up. The singer's voice (John Clifford?) is distinctive and the tracking on the vocals must have been hell to record. And Cathy Green, ex-Ears bass player. So, what's the story? What happened to Deckchairs and everyone in them (!) since? The Paul Hester story is tragic. And everyone else?

Hey I vaguely remember seeing this clip on Countdown a few times, also on that Sat morning music show before MTV. Hosted by Donnie Sutherland but I can't remember the name of the program??? Saw them live in the 80s at what is now the Metro in Sydney, where are all the good live bands nowadays?

Donnie Sutherland show was 'Sounds' and the clip Sounds played was the official clip - not this one that was made by Countdown.

I know Donnie - he helped me with another account/channel I have titled 'welovedonnie' which features clips from SOUNDS and After Dark.

tyvm for posting this. this was a fave from that amazing burst of very distinct and original dance music that cam from australia in the early to mid eighties. sad only JJJ played this stuff. a little too left of centre for brain dead commercial radio :(((
