  • what do you have on top of the water bottle.. (thats making the opening more narrow)

  • Most Silicon Sealants have chemicals which cause cancer.

  • Very good work. I also like to invent something. I am a biologist and teacher. Greetings from Brazil.

  • I have done a fair amount of water research document review during the past 35 years. The pesticide HCB (Hexachlorobenzene) is present in every natural drinking water source, and is also present in the sediment. This is due to the inadvertent production of HCB from pulp mils, oil refineries, and now the Garbage Incinerators. The Gamma Isomer of Benzene interacts with sunlight, in the presence of certain other compounds, and POOF! It's magic. Pesticide.

Removing HCB etc from water is difficult.

  • It would be easy to make this distiller sevral hundred feet long for more distiled water output and the feed water would become highly mineralized and make a good fertilizer for non food crops such as cotton or algee for feul production.

  • For a minute or two there, I thought I was going to watch that glass bottle slowly fill all the way UP until video ended.

  • Can this be used to clean polluted water in places like African rural villages?

  • @kmccampb It sure can, although it was designed for industrial use, with a few small modifications it would be suitable for drinking water.

  • @regpye your awesome for making this video! favorited.

  • ...the water you begin with. It can't have ever been in plastic, especially if that bottle was exposed to sunlight. The plastic will produce minimum two hazardous products. The water, if it contains pesticide/fungicide/herbicide will also react with sunlight.

There is a comment regarding availability of distilled water. That issue is already addressed by "ozonating" all bottled water. Ozone in bottled water produces the Genotoxic byproduct Potassium Bromate. This is BAD STUFF.

  • @frootloopsian This unit was designed for hydrogen fuel cell use, so all of the comments that you have made are towards drinking water I would expect.

  • @frootloopsian

So basically what you're saying is that life is hopeless and we'll all die terrible deaths and we may as well stop eating and drinking right this very moment to make it all end more quickly?

  • Couple hints. Never use materials which may react with the Gamma Isomer (sun light) and produce carcinogens, mutagens, etc. Paints, coatings, plastics, rubber, wood all produce benzene which react with sunlight. Use stainless steel for the tub, trough, and glass mount. Use cork only for the seals. Use pyrex for the recovery tube, and if it needs to be bent, do it with a bunsen burner. Use only tinted glass bottles for the water, if exposed to sunlight. There is another issue here regarding ...

  • @frootloopsian sunlight will kill most bactera over serveral hours due to the UV light.

  • Can something like this be used for distilling alcohol? :>

  • how long does the distillation takes? and do you get 100% of the water back?

  • @defuzed28 Depends on the heat of the day, the amount of humidity of the day. All water is collected,.

On a warm day I have collected about 6L with the small unit shown in the video.

  • how long does the distillation takes?

  • which kind of glass did you use? A normal window glass? I am wondering that the water does not steam the glass like it is on this video here: S0Ecer9cFko

In my new distiller, the glass does not steam too, so what could the steaming cause?

  • @crapmanism I used ordinary window pane glass. The steaming will be affected by outside temperature, humidity and the amount of sunlight available.

Often you will still see high output without any steaming being noticeable.

  • @regpye yes, I am noticing that too. I just build a similar item before with a plastic glass and it was totally steamed so that all the sunlight was broken and could not reach the bottom anymore.

  • if you search for watercone, you will see it steamed too. So I am wondering what that could caused?

  • Totally great idea!!! Thank you for sharing.....we might just try this one thanks.

    Peace,

    7

  • hello :) How do you fix the glass in front? There is no "glass support lip" like in the back.

  • @crapmanism There is a vertical edge that the glass rests against. The sides have a turned over edge that also supports the glass, the back you can see clearly in the drawing. At the front where the glass rests against the vertical lip, run a bead of silicone sealant along the top. It was designed this way on purpose, because the water vapour collects on the glass and runs down the underside of the glass to drop off the edge and fall into the sheet metal trough so it can run out at one end..

  • @regpye ok, perfect :) Thank you for your detailled anzwer!

But I have another question: Does the slope / aptitude of the glass (difference of 20 cm height between back and front) cause a drip off back into the raw water basin again? I am right now uploading a video to show you what i mean :)

  • @crapmanism I found on mine that the water runs down the under surface of the glass and drips off the lower corner edge of the glass, straight into the small trough.

  • @regpye I finished my distiller. Will put it on the roof on Monday. Amazed how many output ill have :P

  • @crapmanism Geat stuff, I hope you can make a video of it to share with us all.

  • I would be very interested in building one just for drinking water can you help me out when you get a chance of course.thanks in advance

  • @ravenpearl1 How can I help you? There are several ways that this unit could be built, I just used what was available at the time, but it works very well.

  • Mother Earth News and popular mechanics both did this back in the 1970's the shape was the same but they did a roof system just like this useing glass, and a toilet float valve to keep the bottom chambe full and used dark lava rocks in the base to help give more suface area for evaporation and heat transfor. and a tube that kepts a container in the home filled with fresh distilled water.

  • @1crazyfocker What a wonderful idea. I may build one for home use and use myself. The model in the video is for industrial use, but drinking the water is fine, I have tasted it and it is far better than the tap water.

  • @regpye i got the plans, but they are packed right now. if you ask me again in 2 months i can scan them for you or at least tell you what book they are in. but i am in the middle of moving right now.

  • @1crazyfocker I will put a note in my calendar, thanks

  • THUMBS UP IF YOU HATE THIS MUSIC

  • watch?v=fyXlQinPvZs

this is what's in america's water, lol.

  • @medini2 Australian water ha..ha..

  • ATTENTION EVERYBODY WHO DRINKS DISTILLED WATER PLEASE READ!!!

ok i have a few questions for you.

    1. do you drink it everyday?

    2. have you been drinking it for many years?

    3. have you had any adverse reactions to it?

the reason i am asking this is because i want to know if it is safe to drink for long term consumption. there is so many lies about water, and i have yet to find any scientific study's proving it is safe for long term consumption, but i have also not found any that prove it is bad.

  • Im thinking about building one of these as well after i heard they are dumping harmful chemicals in out tap water, its kinda sad when i look at so many people who have all these health problems and wonder if there is possibility it was the water that did that to them.

  • @arcticwolfx8 Yes I agree with you. Although I designed this for producing distilled water for industrial use, I have tasted it and it is quite pleasant and clean.

It certainly tastes much better than the tap water and it doesn't have the awful smell that tap water has, in fact it has no smell at all.

  • Thats sweet sucking clean water right out of the air :D

  • @whateverujoke Next US elections there will be scandals...people will not support the elected president and will protest. This will freeze the diminishing economy (thanks to Obama) collapsing the US dollar and affecting all money world-wide. The US government will fall and be replaced by a fascist oligarchical state controlled by the rich and powerful via CIA. This system will abuse other countries and WWIII may emerge. Pray that the US military stays loyal to the American citizens.

  • Hi Regpye nice setup but I think it would be healtier just to use glass only if this is going to be drinkable water.

    Thanks

  • @guruji243 It was designed for industrial use, not drinking, but some would prefer to drink this than the tap water that smells terrible, and also tastes rotten too.

  • What is wrong with drinking distilled water for all ones drinking of water ? All other water that I drank, seems to have the wrong minerals, and causes me arthritis problems. I am considering switching now to distilled water for all water drinking. Who sells a solar distiller, and where are the plans ? Paul Bragg in all his books writes about how wrong minerals in water is the cause of arthritis and other problems.

  • @trader0108

Plans for water distiller are available free from hho-research com au

Have a look in the Hints & Tips section.

  • @trader0108 Thanks for that link, very interesting.

I would also like to comment on the one I have built and the plans that are available on my website and this channel.

I have noticed that in the cold weather, if the filler hole is left uncovered the system works from condensing the water vapour in the air. To my surprise I found that the 20 litre jerry that catches the distilled water from the system was full (overflowing in fact) and I had not filled the unit up with water for distilling.

  • So...since this video is rated under auto, is it safe for humans to drink? Isn't there going to be toxins running off the sheet metal? Thanks for clarifying the safety of drinking distilled water from this device.

  • Yes the device was designed for auto use, but if someone wanted to use it for drinking water then the sheet metal could be replaced with stainless steel. Stainless steel would have the downside of being bright and shiny that would reduce the water output. Another method would be to paint the sheet metal with a suitable potable paint that would not effect the water quality.

Drinking distilled water should only be done in an emergency as it is not good for health.

  • @regpye Distilled water actually absorbs discarded minerals. The blood and lymph (mostly water), transports them to the kidneys for elimination. It is this kind of mineral elimination that is incorrectly referred to as 'leaching'. The expression that distilled water leaches minerals from the body is inaccurate. It collects and removes minerals which have been rejected by the cells and tissues, which if not evacuated, can cause arterial obstruction and serious bodily damage.

  • Geez, you show a long clip of the water collecting but not much else. At least the plans are on the right.

  • couldn't the back door have hinges, or a small 'window' so you could use this for a solar cooker also? i really like this idea!!!

    thank you for posting.

  • haha , what's up with you playing some NICE underground house 1994 type in the background ?

    track id please :)

  • It was computer generated music, no track ID.

  • what type of computer generates that music ? LOL i want one .

  • Obama wants to make organic food illegal. I wonder if the NWO will make distilled water hard to get since colloidal silver is an excellent anti-virus / anti-bacteria agent. And no, I haven't turned blue... but I have got on the better side of the 'compromised immune system' thing and chemtrail stuffs. (Hmmm :-) nice.)

  • But they can never stop you making the distilled water, mu ha ha ha. and yes colloidal silver is great! I even treat my cats illnesses with it, and no one in my house is blue either

  • @Brasik1 hiya, you just leave water exposed to sunlight in a sealed, see-through container i.e glass, not plastic and UV rays in the sunlight kill 99% of bacteria. 3-7 hours in UV light.

  • @Brasik1 Its not for sale in Ireland or Britain :(

  • maybe you could shine mirrors onto it to make it more efficient

  • How long can it take to fill a gallon?

  • All you do is boil water and catch the steam. the steam will then condense in to distilled water.

  • Boiling water costs energy - sun power is free - distilled water is automatically collected with this system - no moving parts, nothing to replace - will even produce distilled water without adding any water because it will take water vapour from the air (slower that way, but still works)

  • Yes but technicaly using sunlight is still boiling the water in to steam. i was specificaly vauge to allow the reader of my comment to decidet the best way to boil the water, whether it be to use sunlight or other forms of heat.

  • yes but for people like my brother who needs distilled water for triops isnt going to build this just for a few pints of ditsilled water

  • but how do u actually make it??

  • I don't know why you couldn't use it for the making of colloidal silver, it is after all just distilled water formed from evaporation.

  • How long do you think it would take to fill that bottle on a sunny day?

  • On a warm spring day you can expect between 1 and 5 litres of production, on a summers day more.

  • drink it...its lovely.... have been drinking it for over ten years....

  • Okay, so what exactly are you distilling? I understand water. But what would be the point of distilling water? Are you making whiskey or something?

  • Distilled water is required for the use of hydrogen generator cells. You can bought it at the supermarket or make it yourself for nothing.

  • Unfortunately, moch of the world's drinking water isn't clean (even 1st world places like California - especially California), so the point of distillation would be to reap clean water.

  • I agree, but where i'm from in Northern California, the water is pure. We get it straight out of the springs, and it only needs treated maybe twice a year. Best tasting water on the planet. (in my opinion)

  • nice!!!!

    hey, what song is that???

  • The music is computer generated

  • How long did it take you to fill that jug and what do you think is a good estimate for a 3 gallon container?

  • Depending on the day, the amount of sun available and also the direction that the distiller is facing all affect the output.

I have had days when I only got about 2 litres all day and other days when I got over 6 litres in a day.

The glass bottle holds 2 litres and can overfill quickly on a sunny day.

  • what is hho

  • h20(water) has 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen
