I just saw an ad by Gavin Newsom for LT. Gov. of Ca. It ran as I was waking up to start my day at around 6:30 AM. Then the idea of JB for governor with Gavin as Lt. Gov. came into my mind and I immediately woke completely up in sheer terror.
Before you decide to endorse the native born favorite son Jerry Brown or successful former eBay executive raised in New York Meg Whitman, you should know about the state of California and how it compares with some other states in the United States. Don't be a fool and take California for granted.
How can you possibly support somebody who has spent their entire life sucking off the tit of the people, never created one ounce of private employment and is now asked to lead the state out of the biggest employment mess ever envisioned?
Texas has kicked California's ass! All of the new jobs, all of the companies are flowing to Texas because the state government in Texas is supportive of business.
When is this state going to realize that they are in a competitive fight & they are dramatically losing? Where is the accountability of the leadership & the legislature to acknowledge they have lost, they are losing & if they continue down this path, they will forever lose. Successful businesses constantly assess their competitive
a friendlier environment for business. It once was the mecca for job creation and the envy of the country and the world. As a result of bad policy at the state level, we have suffered years of job losses. In order to restart the California Dream, we need to make this state the most attractive place for job creation. That coupled with the natural beauty of this state makes it one of the most compelling places on earth.
An actor can't be compared to one of the most successful business women in the country. Being in business is about problem solving and this state has one of the biggest problems in the entire country if not the world. Career politicians don't solve problems they curry favor for survival. Jerry Brown is a career politician survivor. We have a global economy now. Every American business competes globally with global employment. If California wants to create and retain more jobs it needs to have
In 10 years, Meg grew ebay from 30 employees with $4 million in revenue to 15,000 employees with $8 billion in annual revenue. She rose through the ranks of Procter & Gamble, Bain & Company, The Walt Disney Company, Stride Rite, Florists' Transworld Delivery (FTD) & Hasbro. A career politician is desperate to be reelected because they can't do anything else. They'll typically do what ever it takes to be reelected (special interests). A solid business person will always have that to fall back on.
@sbusalacchi With our economic situation I think we need experience now to fix things. What you say could be true and if it is thats great but she has no experience in Governance. Last time we elected someone with no political background and yeah.
GO MEG 2010!!! Meg has made money. Jerry has spent our money. He's a career politician. She's a business woman with an amazing track record. She knows how to make things work! This state needs financial discipline. It needs someone who can understand where the inflows are and where the outflows are and how they can be equalized. That's what business people do...not what politicians do. Meg didn't earn $120 million being a politician.
@sbusalacchi what is bad about being a "career politician?" what that means to me is that he cares a great deal about the people, he wants to help and he has a lot of EXPERIENCE doing so. running a for profit business is nothing like running a state, she has no clue what shes doing. i don't know who you are but i guarantee you jerry brown will do a hell of a lot more to help our state and to help YOU, whoever you are, than meg whitman will do in a million years.
I love how she talks about cracking down on employers of illegal immigrants and this was before it became public knowledge that an undocumented woman from mexico raised her children for 9 years.. PS at 3:34 the chick behind the reporter from the sacremento bee has a great rack
@idkwhattowrite1 agreed, Meg Whitman has a few valid answers here and there but most of her answers in this debate are quite broad and vague while Jerry seems to be more to the point and explain his stance better...supported Meg before watching this but I'm much more divided now
Why would anybody who has the ability to use cold hard reasoning, vote for the candidate that has ZERO exoerience in Government. Meg Whitman is flat out liar.
Those of us OLD enough to remember KNOW that Brown ran the state very well and was relected in nearly a landslide victory. Bottom line, the State of California is in dire straits and last thing we need right now is a Governer that will need On The Job Training.
@nateparedes44 i know! i was more behind her before watching this, but now it looks like she is bringing nothing new to the table and just repeating her scripted TV commercials??
@PersonalJesus348 On the other hand, when did U find gov't workers 2B generally warm &compassionate, care about what UR going thru? Do U really want 2give gov't more power with even more reason to give a rip about you &have ZERO accountability EVEN THO U pay their paycheck? &then U throw ur hands in the air BC they're "corrupt politicians?" When U run something like a business, the "customer comes first." That's hardly a downside as a real way 2keep "businesses" "organizations," etc. honest.
"I have invested a lot of my own money on this campaign, and the reason is, I know if I can make it in and lower taxes on my tax bracket, it will be a net profit in the long run."
"...use the money for things we really care about..." like McMansions, illegal help (because "we're" too lazy to clean up "our" own mess), & plus size clothing from Neiman Marcus. "hold me accountable" just like anyone could hold her MESS of a business accountable. No one should want CA run like this monster ran ebay/paypal.
If an American is deported from abroad back to here, do they then lose all of their ID's? When people are sent back to Mexico, they are denied their ID's. With no money and nothing else, they then don't exist legally. They're not entitled to any help from any agency anywhere.

Ok Meg, you need to school yourself about Prop 13! It was because of Reagan's disasterous polcies as GOV that Prop 13 was written, are you pro Reagan or pro Prop 13? Perhaps she doesn't get it because she never voted......and don't get me started on the hypocrisy of her immigration ideals.
Why does Brown carry this negative/elitist tone toward the wealthy. For the love of Pete ... the "billionaire/millionaires" are the people (most of them-excluding exceptions which can be found in every genre) that carried the responsibility, worked just as hard as most other working Americans and were able to capitalize on the American Dream. This is not something that should be scolded or looked down upon ... it is what is America it creates jobs ... some need to stop with this BS!
@MrFoshobro the rich have been getting their tax breaks for the last 6 or 8 years and I don't see the jobs you are talking about! all l see is the deficit getting worst and worst thanks to those breaks.
@piratatrillor ... are you another dummy that needs to be educated Why is the deficit getting worse? I don't see jobs either ... Are you telling me that the deficit is getting worse because the rich are getting some type of special tax treatment? Wow you really have absolutely not a single clue as to what you are talking about. None! hence I am wasting my time on holding a productive/positive conversation with you.
@MrFoshobro Actually, the billionaires AREN'T creating jobs. That's the problem. The people at the top are making record profits, so to suggest that they aren't getting enough money back from the rest of us taxpayers is absurd. Also, it's silly to talk about having an "elitist" attitude toward the wealthy. The wealthy ARE the elite!
@friendofthefunk you say 'the billionaires' aren't creating jobs what then is the CEO of facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, doing - playing theater? please be kind to explain. Of course the wealthy are the elite and many of them probably have an elitist attitude themselves. Is the term "elite or showing an elitist attitude" reserved just for the wealthy. Is it impossible for a president or a sen. boxer to not be able to display such a characteristic? U sir have little clue.
@MrFoshobro So...Mark Zuckerberg IS creating jobs? Which means that the current tax policies haven't killed the ability of billionaires to create jobs? Congratulations, you defeated your own argument. Funny, I don't feel like the one with "little clue" here.
@friendofthefunk to start a statement with ... "billionaire aren't creating jobs" shows you have an extreme lack of knowledge on this topic ... and it puts to question other arguments/comments you suggest! End of story!
@friendofthefunk you my dear youtuber enjoy the ability to twist opposing agruments to your liking. Something which is genetically encoded into the liberal and socialist bloodstream. Which doesn't make you an idiot it makes you a manipulative and lying fool! Are you a liberal/socialist? friendofthefunk, seriously, did you graduate highschool?
@MrFoshobro I don't have to twist anything. You do a fine job of making your claims look ridiculous on your own. Your resorting to silly ad hominems doesn't change that.
@GaryVolts, this way we can change the collegiate system back to the old fashion way, where only the rich and upper middle class can afford to go to school.
@Kordazone510 Prices would go down so more people would be able to afford college without loans. In the past you could pay for school with a summer job, no longer. Also, good prospects would be able to get private loans as they always have.
Who do you want to vote? Jerry for using/stealing your money to run for election by using corrupt UNION or Meg for using her own money without corrupting someone else. Take your pick. My question is why Whitman is running for Governor anyways? A person who was not interested in politics and has never voted in her life, is now spending 100s of millions of dollars out of her pocket to become the Governor?! What are her true intentions?
Meg Whitman is like the hypocrit McCain, and all the Republican that when they need the hispanic vote they do whatever they can to fool these voters with cheap slogans, but she won't support what the hispanic community really need which is Immigration Reform. Meg next time you run and ad in Univison or any spanish radio station, tell them you won't support a path to citizenship and lets see how many votes you get from hispanics.
@GaryVolts you don't know how difficult it is to come here legally!!! do you think people like to risk thier lives to come to this country? those people have been pushed out of their own countries thanks to the policies that this country impone on theirs. get more informed body before opening your mouth. and sorry if I miss spelled a word, I'm not from this country thank god, otherwise l would be as selfish and arrogant as many here.
When I lived in LA in 2000-2001 according to the LA Chamber of Commerce - 83% of the population of the county earned less than $55,000, a ugly 1950's ranch house in Torrance or the Valley was $350,000. Even in good times CA was a rough place to live.
@GaryVolts I know, I drove through Hawthrone, Compton, and Watts, strange there are no poor or rich areas they just seem to be splattered all over. Mid Wilshire is poor or working class. Drive North on Wilshire Blvd for 15 min and you are in Beverly Hills.
ok guys dont put me down but is this called a gubernatorial debate? because i know when whitman a poizer did thats what it was called. this is for my government homework. so yeah im young and still learning about politics..:) but yeah pls answer it
Meg what if the educational elites answer is, "RAISE MY SALARY more"? I think you should tell them what their going to do. Otherwise, we can import Mexicans and train them to teach school at a third of the price. It worked with strawberries and construction, didn't it?
Meg what if the educational elites answer is, "RAISE MY SALARY more"? I think you should tell them what their going to do. Otherwise, we can import Mexicans and train them to teacher school at a third of the price. It worked with strawberries and construction, didn't it?
If Whitman has some good ideas to use technology, then she should prove herself in politics by being in the Brown administration. She did not vote, she is supported by hidden interests, and she has done nothing but lie.
If she has something to offer, besides being another Schwarzenegger clone with breasts then prove it before you ask me for my vote.
Meanwhile, Brown is making a lot of sense, and he is not doing to the dirty smears and wallowing in the gutter with Whitman.
I like Jerry Brown but his criticism of the private sector is a bit scary. He keeps saying that Whitman is supporting millionaires and billionaires when in fact she wants targeted tax cuts to abate the businesses and manufacturing that CA is hemorrhaging daily. Brown can certainly testify on behalf of the difficulty of being governor, but I find his claim that it is so much harder than working as a private sector CEO juvenile. The private sector, unlike government, must stay in the black.

@jvarela965 The whole are is depressing to see. I used to live there. Its like being in 1950, but with prices 100x.

Meg what if the educational elites answer is, "RAISE MY SALARY more"? I think you should tell them what their going to do. Otherwise, we can import Mexicans and train them to teach school at a third of the price. It worked with strawberries and construction, didn't it?

If Whitman has some good ideas to use technology, then she should prove herself in politics by being in the Brown administration. She did not vote, she is supported by hidden interests, and she has done nothing but lie.
If she has something to offer, besides being another Schwarzenegger clone with breasts then prove it before you ask me for my vote.
Meanwhile, Brown is making a lot of sense, and he is not doing to the dirty smears and wallowing in the gutter with Whitman.

Meg Whitman hired undocumented maids.

@Kordazone510 Since the border isn't enforced, all the domestic maids have been replaced with Mexicans.

I like Meg Whitman, but she got destroyed by Mr. Brown. He got my vote!

@JorgePrima this statement is deceiving and you act like people are stupid.
Don't commit if you have nothing intelligent to say!

Whitman is a scripted low grade moron. I think that just about sums it up. Neither is perfect, but at least Jerry is competent.
