I like how Stefan uses America as his focal point even though he is Canadian/English. I do not mean this sarcastically. I believe he does this because he recognizes that America is the pivoting country in the West.
America's problem isn't that the government is "stealing" the citizens money, it is that too much power has been given to private corporations. There is too much power in the hands of the elite. If the government taxed more, they wouldn't be beholden to special interests and therefore would spend taxpayers dollars on health, education and infrastructure instead of invading foreign countries.
Look at the economy of Australia, and explain why their economy and standard of living is so high!
@HiddenAuthor Sure, there are welfare cheats, but they cost the taxpayer a tiny fraction of the amount it costs to bail out banks who are 'too big to fail' or fund foreign wars that have few (if any) benefits for the majority of the people. I say, nationalize the banks, tax people proportionately and ban political donations (institutionalized bribery) and democratic government may have a chance of acting the way it's supposed to: on behalf of the people and not just the wealthy elite.
@mr0speaker There was a time in which America had no income tax. Then the "Progressives" convinced the American people to institute the income tax against the rich. And over time, half the people came to pay income tax. The moral of the story? The moral is: In politics, the term "the rich" can be broadly defined. So we can get lots of services but at the same time, pay lots of money for them! And this is true regardless of the portion going to welfare cheats, big banks (from BOTH parties), etc.
This is the American idea of individualism gone mad. In indigenous societies, if a member of the tribe is unable to gather food, his tribe will give him food. Basic redistribution to support the common good.
This goes to the heart of John Locke's treatise of government. But here is my question: why is it that white Americans were allowed to steal the land off the native Americans? And now that it's stolen, why fence it off to hog resources and leave them in squalid conditions?
Rather than getting people to risk their lives standing up to an armed state and a brainwashed populace, wouldn't it be better to encourage everyone to be as independent as possible, to the point where they don't need money?
Royalty don't need it, and are sovereign unto themselves. Same should be

I watched the previous video, and I don't understand how you could get to a purely anarcho-capitalistic society unless you participate in government in order to destroy it. The freedom movement would have gotten this far or this big without Ron Paul's participation in the 2008 election. I know that I would have never watched these videos without the Austrian School of economics and their predictions leading me to these libertarian ideals.
I bought a subway sandwich and some coffee on my work break. unfortunately I didn't know that my account was at almost nothing, so it over drafted. I deposited my paycheck as per usual, and strangely enough a huge chunk of it was just..gone. turns out I payed about 150 dollars for that subway sandwich and coffee. 21X the original price. yaaaaaaay robbery! I'm just a teenager so I haven't experienced anything TOO crazy, but already I'm getting sodomized by banks.
@SiaGrath: That's awful, I can't believe your bank completely violated your contract with them like that. Fortunately, government interference or not, you can still take them to court for breach of contract.
This is of course assuming they breached contract and you're not just claiming banks sodomized you by acting directly in convention with the contract when you took money from them that wasn't your own.
Why is it over the top? You didn't have to go overdrawn.. and I will bet you anything that the exact amount was determinable from your contract and related information.
that's the worst argument I've ever heard in my life. so going on what you said, if a company said "if you go 5 dollars over, we will chop off your arms and crucify your family" in the contract, that wouldn't be over the top just because they said it in the contract?
quit sitting there insulting me dude. don't you have anything better to do than troll people on youtube?
I didn't say that it wasn't "over the top", I've said that you have no right to complain or say that the bank sodomized you. They didn't, your penalty was entirely voluntary. If the contract says they can chop off your arms, then you shouldn't sign it, if it says they can crucify your family then it isn't a contract unless the individual members of your family all sign it too, you don't own them.
I am telling you to grow up yes. Stop pretending it forced upon you, when you agreed to the penalty
That's bullshit. Yes, the penalty was voluntary, but you must remember the point of the video. When your only true option is to either participate to get something back or walk away, most people will try to work with the system, even if it's unfair. People don't necessarily agree with a contract.
@N7a7v7i: Hey, just out of interest, did you read the posts before my own? My points weren't to the video, I was responding to a user, sorry for the confusion. Having a bank account has nothing todo with force... so my points were valid in that context.
@DreadLaw2 so when you go overdrawn you get charged, but when the banks go overdrawn they get bailed out,by those they have been charging exorbitant amounts to. Wow I am sure we are all sympathetic to banks. Do unto others as....... does that ring a bell? I thought so.
@fixrifex Indeed, it is absurd, but I didn't bail the banks out. I was stolen from so that a violent monopoly that claims to be working in my name could give money to it's friends. The fact that a bank charge is exorbitant is of no consequence when you have the option to not agree to the charge. But we should be free of the violence that leads to the bail-outs of course, down with the government!
@SiaGrath as unfair as it is a contract is a contract. I learned my lesons well, after years of paying terrible charges on overdrafts and credit cards some financial discipline can only be good for your health. I will advise you focus on paying your debts and refrain from borrowing money you do not need. If you can't afford it, avoid it.
The first creditor to the national debt is every person born in America. For every birth registered in America and Canada a bond worth a million dollars is created and floated on the market that becomes the collateral for which the US and Canada respective treasuries barrow against. The income tax pays the dividend to the bond holder which is the Federal Reserve.
Do I need to explain why in every election no ballot ever has a box wherein the voter can lodge their vote for none of the above?
For a government predicated on using terrorism to coercer people to cooperate, a vote for none of the above is a contradiction to their terrorist premise.
As if to say: "You mean as a voter I have before me a choice to opt out? That I can refuse consent to be governed and the government will leave me alone?"
this is why people who think the militia is essential are fooling themselves. when there is chaos, people will side with the military and cops rahter than the private citizen or militia group. so the right to bear arms really means nothing unless you really think you need to shoot a burglar coming through your window..but how many times does that happen? it was designed, however, to overthrow the gov't if need be. yeah. fat chance. the gov't takes every precaution to see that doesn't occur
Corporations were not created in the 19th century. Their ugly history goes back several centuries. Please read the book "Gangs of America " By Ted Nace - it is available free online and goes in depth into the history of corporate power
Oh, and doctors get paid £2000 per week, in the uk. Mor eint he usa.
They SELL you your health, ofr TREMENDOUS profit.
And police retire at 45 yrs, with FAT pensions, which match their wages, almost. They then travel the world, telling everyone how hard it was spending years bashing you, of every penny you were worth.
Prisons - Profit
Since they were privatised we have CRAMMED the prisons and they are now OVER full.
Stef, I don't get how the government has no money after talking our money. Sure, many people never really consider where the government money comes from. However, those on the left - I imagine - figure that it comes mostly from the evil corporations and those richer than themselves. Certainly those on welfare have little to lose in this game.
Why does the government have no money left once it's taxed it out of us?
The govt has no money after it taxed ours, because thegovts job is to SPEDN all the money as quick as poss.
If it had ANY money left oevr atthe end of th year, it owuld HAVE to tell us that we can work LESS nextyear. It THROWS money away, os it can ALWAYS demand mor ework, every year, and EXPAND itself.
In the army, if there are any bullets left, at the end of the year, they fire them into th edirt.
If they dont use EVERY bullet, they get LESS money next year.
This is exactly what I have been figuring out since I joined the Army. The government doesn't produce anything! It doesn't contribute ANYTHING to the economy, it simply takes money and burns it. Almost literally. I've been trying to explain this to my fellow soldiers, but they don't quite get it. There is no honor in being involved in an institution that enslaves the people and coerces them to pay your salary. There is no honor in destroying rather than creating. The whole thing is a scam.
Most just look for that guaranteed paycheck and they learn to like the military culture, so it suits them. They then try to either convince themselves that what they do is a good thing or avoid thinking about it altogether in an effort to justify their career. That is the motivation for the majority of military people. They are more susceptible to the propaganda because they WANT to believe it.
When I joined I was blinded. Now I'm not and see what a horrid system it is, so I'm on my way out.
@empbac I might have to join the military. Too many debts, and I have a felony criminal record for owning that demon weed. Dangerous criminal I am, no? Still, they'll let me serve in the military won't they? It's sad, a sad state of affairs, to be sure. But at least I'll be smart enough to buy silver and gold with my cash, and nothing else. I don't need to pay for food, or shelter, or anything really. So I can walk away with, literally a treasure chest full of precious metals. Silver lining
Excellent segment. I'm an pretty hardcore libertarian, but not quite an anarcho-capitalist. I haven't quite taken that last step towards a State-less society. I think it would be great, but not sure if its feasible. Maybe I'm still programmed to believe we need SOME type of govt, or more likely, that SOME type will inevitabley arise.
The government enslaved and stole the money from the farmer, who enslaved and stole the milk from the cow, who stole the energies from the grass. it never is created out of thin air, but then the government is a voluntary slavery and the cow is manipulated.
That irrelevant sidetrack out of the way, I think that when Denmark will have it's next vote, I'll be skipping it on the basis of this video.
Actually the point about the cows is that the cows provide the raw source of the profit, the profit is then used to further enslave the cow.
Or...
Every product you buy pays for the advertising you see, which makes you (more likely to) buy more of that product, which pays for more advertising and so on.
Because States are basically corporations (legal persons), the corporations take the blame not the officers.
No matter how you slice it, you are paying for your own fence.
There are many good intention-filled people in govt. It is the Illuminati that have infiltrated and manipulate the government apparatus against us. To call it "government" is to miss the source of the problem.
See Fritz Spingmeier's "Bloodlines of the Illuminati", online.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This is classic libertarian views. I think a more intelligent liberal would agree with the facts of this video. Less intelligent ones are confused by the definition of words. Taxation by definition is taking money by force, without force it is called donation or charity.
To me it is not immoral to use taxation to provide certain services. One example is in the case of a foreign invasion. If someone does not wish to support the defense through taxation, jail for them.
I don't think that is actually necessary -- or moral for that matter -- you might want to check out my free audio book Practical Anarchy for more on how a stateless society can more effectively deal with the problem of national defense... :)
Its amazing from this 2 part news I wasted 15 minutes of my time voting, even if I voted for Ron Paul as a "Write-in" candidate. I might as well do not vote for anything. But, if we do not vote for anything, we have no voice at all, right Stefbot? Or, we do not get invovle directly with this system by writing in the candidates, Stef? Thanks for your response.
It pains me greatly to say what I am about to say, but the United States is in its death spiral- as we know it that is. Not since Germany in the 30's have the masses followed and worshipped such a man as the lost sheep of America have followed after Obama. I have to pinch myself to see if I am awake or dreaming when I see how the media bows down to this man. Unbelievable.
i apologize for the negative comment on the truth about voting video perhaps the tone of the vid made me react that way while i don't agree that individuals who voted traded their self respect, i can see why u think that, thanks for explaining this video the way u did every body knows how the government works but u did a great job of explaining it a simpler way 5 stars buddy
I'm curious-- has there been much research on how and where government got started? It seems most societies have independently made the mistake of forming governments, the rationale for which was no doubt to do for the people what they can't do for themselves, or some such nonsense. They all should just stop it. That is what is called wishful thinking.
Government came about primarily for military reasons. States with strong armies funded by taxes and organised by bureaucracies would overun states with weaker government, until they became empires. However imperial governments after a few centuries would became so corrupt and inefficient they would eventually be overun by barbarians and collapse. Then one of the barbarian tribes would organise a government (ex: Charlemagne), and the cycle would start over again.
After much thought,I have deduced that it goes back to the first tribal group that decided it would be easier to beat the shit out of the guys in that other tribe, and take their stuff, then to go out,and find it for themselves.Putting it simply, this was the birth of fuedalism, which is the foundation of all modern government.
Not voting is a non-solution. There are (in most states) good presidential candidates on the ballot. Constitution party/Chuck Baldwin and Darell Castle. A definite step in the right direction.
That's very nice, freefera11. It's just that I've only been to most of the nations in the northern hemisphere and lived in several different political sytems and haven't encountered 'volunteerism'.
Is it a utopia we will evolve into in the next several thousand years?
I used to work voluntarily for Cancer Research when I was younger - living with (being kept by) my parents.
I would still be working there if I could (if Government didn't steal half my money -in various deceptive ways- leaving me to find it difficult to make ends meet)
Government undermines EVERYTHING. How many people even talk to their neighbours anymore? who has the time, right?
If the violence was brought into the open like that, where people were forced to participate, the system would not last very long, as long as people are aware of the gun. In Australia, participation is forced, yet the gun in the room is not talked about, so the system remains. But imagine what it would look like in America if the gun in the room was well known AND the government tried to force participation. The government has control of schools to make the fact of the gun hard to see however
This was a great video. I love when you put these issues into simple terms. It helps when sharing your videos with "simple" friends, or friends that wont sit through a 45 minute video.
I'd LOVE to see a video like this on healthcare and how a volunteer based, free market system would work better for everyone.
The word you're looking for is Voluntarism. I like that word. It's sometimes called Voluntaryism. Wikipedia has a page about that. It does seem a better word than capitalism, laissez-faire or anarchism. Except for perhaps laissez-faire, those words have other conotations. Capitalism is known to many as crony capitalism. Anarchism brings to me pictures of skinheads wanting chaos (but sometimes I wonder if they had more insight than I gave them credit for).

Kill the state and it will be reborn in the next generation. It's human nature. Get over it.

The government enslaved and stole the money from the farmer, who enslaved and stole the milk from the cow, who stole the energies from the grass. it never is created out of thin air, but then the government is a voluntary slavery and the cow is manipulated.
That irrelevant sidetrack out of the way, I think that when Denmark will have it's next vote, I'll be skipping it on the basis of this video.
navidsonpuzzle 3 years ago
Actually the point about the cows is that the cows provide the raw source of the profit, the profit is then used to further enslave the cow.
Or...
Every product you buy pays for the advertising you see, which makes you (more likely to) buy more of that product, which pays for more advertising and so on.
Because States are basically corporations (legal persons), the corporations take the blame not the officers.
No matter how you slice it, you are paying for your own fence.

Thanks for clarifying.

There are many good intention-filled people in govt. It is the Illuminati that have infiltrated and manipulate the government apparatus against us. To call it "government" is to miss the source of the problem.
See Fritz Spingmeier's "Bloodlines of the Illuminati", online.

If you want to hit them where it hurts and take their power away... stop paying them to take your money or property.
Let them pay their own debts.
Why do YOU pay TAXES you don't owe?
Who said you Owe taxes... they did?
Is that true?
Did you know the FED and IRS are Corporations?
Did you know they are NOT GOVERNMENT AGENCIES?
Do you owe people that you have NO contract with?
Did you ever buy or borrow from The Fed or The IRS?
Money=Power... No money=No Power

If someone does not wish to support the defense through taxation, jail for them.
bigryanjoel 3 years ago

Well hyperinflation is effectively canceling all debts in that currency and that could be around the corner.

I'm curious-- has there been much research on how and where government got started? It seems most societies have independently made the mistake of forming governments, the rationale for which was no doubt to do for the people what they can't do for themselves, or some such nonsense. They all should just stop it. That is what is called wishful thinking.
DionysusAlS 3 years ago
Government came about primarily for military reasons. States with strong armies funded by taxes and organised by bureaucracies would overun states with weaker government, until they became empires. However imperial governments after a few centuries would became so corrupt and inefficient they would eventually be overun by barbarians and collapse. Then one of the barbarian tribes would organise a government (ex: Charlemagne), and the cycle would start over again.
Ape65 3 years ago 2
After much thought,I have deduced that it goes back to the first tribal group that decided it would be easier to beat the shit out of the guys in that other tribe, and take their stuff, then to go out,and find it for themselves.Putting it simply, this was the birth of fuedalism, which is the foundation of all modern government.

Not voting is a non-solution. There are (in most states) good presidential candidates on the ballot. Constitution party/Chuck Baldwin and Darell Castle. A definite step in the right direction.
Most people don't vote NOW. It shows nothing.

That's very nice, freefera11. It's just that I've only been to most of the nations in the northern hemisphere and lived in several different political sytems and haven't encountered 'volunteerism'.
Is it a utopia we will evolve into in the next several thousand years?
Doesn't seem very useful in the real world.

If one party stops, the other that is using the gun (in the room) will force the others to participate. Seems like a catch-22
101011a 3 years ago
If the violence was brought into the open like that, where people were forced to participate, the system would not last very long, as long as people are aware of the gun. In Australia, participation is forced, yet the gun in the room is not talked about, so the system remains. But imagine what it would look like in America if the gun in the room was well known AND the government tried to force participation. The government has control of schools to make the fact of the gun hard to see however

This was a great video. I love when you put these issues into simple terms. It helps when sharing your videos with "simple" friends, or friends that wont sit through a 45 minute video.
I'd LOVE to see a video like this on healthcare and how a volunteer based, free market system would work better for everyone.
dingerness 3 years ago 2
Good video, as always, Stef, I have a question relative to your views upon the state, however. I came across the following, recently, as such:
What would you say to those that compare the State in a Society as the Immune System of an organism?
Which are the errors when considering such an approach, semantically?
adorianvlad 3 years ago
Typically, the immune system doesn't attack and kill healthy cells for energy.

I think volunteerism is a better word than anarchism.
Sepero1 3 years ago 2
The word you're looking for is Voluntarism. I like that word. It's sometimes called Voluntaryism. Wikipedia has a page about that. It does seem a better word than capitalism, laissez-faire or anarchism. Except for perhaps laissez-faire, those words have other conotations. Capitalism is known to many as crony capitalism. Anarchism brings to me pictures of skinheads wanting chaos (but sometimes I wonder if they had more insight than I gave them credit for).

Great point about forgiving debt
Transitiving 3 years ago
simply brilliant. I'm glad I subscribed to you. It makes perfect sense.
But even before you lit the way for me, I figured that the best way to deal with an unethical system is to withdraw from it.
I've decided to not work, so that the government cannot pimp off my labor. I hope many others will or have the wherewithal to do as I do.
If enough people withdraw, then it will be very apparent that this whole system will collapse. Because their only choice then is to force us to work.

Nothing wrong with doing housework. What I mean is to participate in the job market whereby income tax is automatically deducted from your check.
