  • It's obviously not that great but I think it would improve a bit if you used a string to pull it instead of pushing it or pulling with your finger. It will be a lot smoother. Other than that you could make something like this for next to nothing with some shower door or closet door track and a few parts from the hardware store.

  • 6:55 - 7:05 is my favorite part of of the video

  • Do you have any suggestions for alternatives?

  • "you guys really screwed the pooch." I've never heard that one. lol

    Honest, brutal review.

This is an example of the manufacturer and the end user never meeting or communicating prior to final design and output of the final product.

  • 3:15 , Hey pacman family !

  • Blatantly a spoiler video. I have one and its nothing like what you describe.

  • @adalgl Sure. You're the first to say so, take a look at the other owners comments on this video, they ALL confirm my exact experience. You smell like a PR 'AstroTurfer'. Care to be honest about who you are? How a out you upload some sample videos of your mobislyder in action on your absolutely empty channel that just, of course entirely coincidentally, is registered to the same place as the people who make this gear?

  • um...just WD-40 the track...if that does exist in aussie land.

  • @LtSaynt WD-40, a lubricant and water displacement product, will do sweet fuck all to remedy the DESIGN FLAW in the sled being, cheap, wobbly, and badly fitted piece of shit.... I can't even imagine why the fuck would you think it would.

  • Blunty your videos go for every one! When ever I go to buy something expensive I come to your channel! I really love them!

  • Blunty your videos go for every one! When ever I go to buy something expensive I come to your channel!

  • 120au, You kidding! i recon i could make something better out of some scarp bits of wood in an afternoon!

  • The wheels are too small, adding space in between that allows a wobble.

  • I heard that if you freeze it the plastic becomes much stronger

  • so what i can gather, the device is ingenious but costs where cut during manufacturing

    v2 incoming

  • Right before I saw this video I was about to buy this and I thought "let me see if someone has a review on it first" thank god I did!!! I rather tape my camera to a remote control toy car.

  • It sounds like it'd be better to tape your camera to a trombone.

  • Give me 100 bucks and I'll build you one from old shower doors and curtain rails haha

  • Ha Ha Ha Awesome rant

  • thats pretty cool

  • I actually made much better one by myself for less than 20 dollars.

  • @Funky211 how?

  • @Batfink011 This is how. It's not my video, but I followed his instruction.

    watch?v=6O-s-_w--lI

  • @Batfink011 You can make a simpler version from curtain rails too for 10 dollars.

    watch?v=_zxPX4w25eE

  • what if your making a movie video thingy that uses explosions in it then theres a use for that wobbling

  • Damn, that shouldn't cost more than 5-10 dollars. That's way overpriced for what it is worth.

  • Jesus, your arms are hary! ...still nice review as allways :D

  • Just got mine yesterday...1st try, the head pops up like...almost lost the spring...very2 rubbish product, no quality at all...i had 2 glidetrack product before this, and really like them,...but this mobislyder is a rubbish slider, it will not work as advertised...all Blunty in this review is true...glidetrack rip me off this time...No more buying from them anymore...ppl dont buy this mobislyder...

  • @Myshotswedding 'Nice' to see another user experiencing the same issues... I just had the MobiSlyder guys email me, trying to claim I was all wrong and everything about this product was great. Clearly my case isn't an isolated one. I suggest you email them and relay your experience (politely), it may help them make the next version... 'good'.

  • @Blunty3000 No, your case isn't an isolated one... I got mine today and the sliding mechanism is extremely poor quality. It's almost impossible to get the camera across without it gripping or bumping. Unusable in it's current form. I also agree that the base seems like it's really well designed.

  • @aluminumrabbit Another conformation. Good.

  • Update: I've tried a new one now and it runs smooth, as advertised. It's clear that the first one I used was defective. Their customer service is very good.

  • thats alot to pay for something that is small and plastic and cheap.

  • Well Glidetrack....you just lost a sale.

  • @lfcruzsierra between 2 (you and me) and 5090 (current view count) sales.

  • seems like someone thought they found a great way to cut the cost of manufacturing.

  • Maybe you should get onto them and suggest a better variant of the sled as a purchasable extra?

    hopefully they'll listen you XD

  • @iceytoa1 "Purchasable extra"? Screw that, If they REALLY cared about that Glidetrack reputation they've worked so hard to build, they should send out a re-designed and ACTUALLY STABLE ENOUGH TO BE USABLE new version to FIX this near-broken-by-design-flaws product, for free!

  • @Blunty3000 Yeah, sorry about that.

I posted that just before you went through the costs and then thought "well for that much they should replace it O_O" But I don't know how to edit a youtube comment and I didn't want to seem like a spammer so I just shut up :$

  • Looked good until you reviewed it, is there any good alternatives besides DIY, Blunty?

  • Wow that thing cost over $100$ The entire time I was thinking well it stinks that it wobbles but at least it can't be anymore than $20.00. I am amazed that this thing is so expensive and so poorly built.

  • unholy, what a cheap piece of crap for $100+

  • that's ashame. I have seen some DIY build your own rig out of pvc tubes

  • I wish pulling out was that easy!

  • You know it's an honest product review when it turns into a rant. :0)

  • I would suggest moving it with a rubber band, you might get smoother shots

  • @Techerd101 le'copypaste from yesterday; That's a very old trick for pans with cheap pan-tilt tripod heads... already tried it, and it failed to improve the results.

  • @Blunty3000 Bummer :( They should really get onto that. On the bright side your video was excellent as usual :) (y)

  • indymogul here on youtube teaches how to do those 10 times better and 10 times cheaper

  • excellent review ! you just saved me 100 pounds!!

  • u speak true bro always watch your reviews

  • Even if the dent did impact it's use... you would hardly notice it with all the jerking going on during the slide...

  • @MoltenTesseract That much is true.

  • Still over priced in my opinion, but for a glidetrack product what would you expect :) Great review as well, definitely something worth buying for compact cameras

  • did you try lubeing it up ?

  • $200 for this much cheapness...LOL I doubt it costs more than 10 per package. Cheap plastic, poorly made crap. What a shame.

I was expecting to hear something like 70 at most and then laugh at the high price for this poor quality item, then you said 200 including shipping and I started laughing.

Thank you for another great review.

  • £99 for something that barely works? they've go to be kidding. i'll stick to my homemade lego train glidecam.

  • simply amazing, I watched this last night while it still had no comments and 6 views. I refresh the page as the video crashed from being paused for 8 hours and look at it now. over 1500 views and nearly 60 comments.

  • blunty your crafty im sure. you can ghetto rig it to make it work properly

  • this is perfect if this is your first time using a product like this.

  • Sorry to hear the product is so horrible Blunty.

Just out of curiosity would it be possible for you to self modify the slider so it works better?

Just an idea so you didnt waste $200

  • That's dissapointing! Blunty, did you try sticking something underneath the slider itself? Perhaps that might 'fix' the issue of it being so loose. I'm thinking velcro: not the plastic pointy-side but rather the soft-side (excuse my english, not my native tounge). But still, it's a shame that I even have to THINK about a fix for a product like this.

  • you tell em blunt man

  • cake the wheels of the sled in butter. that might make it smoother :P

  • Seeing as their pro models are only 2-4 times the price it seems outragous that they would charge $127 for such a piece of shit!

  • Comment removed

  • Didnt think you could get so much out of your iphone in terms of quality.Maybe I give it a shot some day too :D

  • that is a 4s

  • 3:23, the fish eye on this shot is surprisingly nice, did you use any effects on that (besides fish eye)? i was asking because the foreground looks more bright than the background, and i really want to take nice shots like that.

  • @oziezob That's not an "effect" it was an actual wide angle lens.

  • @Blunty3000 ah sorry, too used to photobooth :P

im i bit of a noob with cameras, and need a little help.

im not asking you for help by the way, because you are probably gunna troll on me, and possibly be sarcastic.

  • @Blunty3000 would ken burns give you a similar effect, or is it worth going DIY?

  • not cheap enough for me

  • the demo video on their website is soo not the slider itself. compared to what i've seen here. somebody should bring it up with them

  • Blunty, no. No, man, just no. $120 for some plastic and alumin(i)um, not even the size of a rifle? Ridiculous, man! Thanks for reviewing this crap, though. I know what NOT to buy!

  • These iPhone accessories are getting out of hand, don't you think?

  • great idea for product but built quality is super poor from what I see.

Is there something better like this available ?

  • would lubricating the track help smooth it?

  • send it back

  • @Blunty3000 How loud is the actual sliding mechanism. Is it easily heard on camera?

  • It seems you would get smoother shots by sliding the side of the camera itself hard up against the rail =S What a shame, I was looking at getting one.

  • Hi Blunty great review, you would think if glidetrack were confident about its claims for the product they would have a demo video on their web site - they don't so that in itself, plus your fanastic expose says to me that this is just cashing in on a market without delivering true customer expectation. Well done sir! Maybe Alastair Brown will redesign the sled before too many other people are "ripped off"

  • @Blunty3000 what model Pentax is that? The footage from it is really impressive

  • @TheShabangabang1 Pentax Q. I reviewed it a little while back when it launched.

  • 7:56 "screwed the pooch" and I was like ^-^ tehe

  • Thank you for the review on it.

  • well that's disappointing! I would of defiantly got one if your review of it didn't show me it sucks, thanks for that BTW!

  • He said cheap I was like okay, twenty or so dollars it might be worth it and then he said it and I was like "ಠ_ಠ"

    "(╯°□°)╯┻━┻"

  • @vaguedustin Cheap in comparison to what "proper" pro sliders cost.

  • I think if the wheels were slightly closer or tightened up more to the track it would lead to far less play

  • I'd try to get a refund fast great review though

  • How much research did you do before you bought it like usually before I especially order something I research it unless at a store but if it's something I really want I look at what people have to say too boy you could have gotten some good headphones and some food or maybe even a psvita Xbox 360

  • Wow you're better off buying a model train track and carriage and gluing it to a piece of wood.

  • So, great design, poorly executed. That's a shame.

Have you contacted them about the sled?

  • if you put a playing card between the metal pit and the sliding thingo, it would remove some of the free space, would it improve results?

even watching the videos i got frustrated, i can only imagine the feeling on the other side of the camera

  • A$200? Seriously? Wow. At that price, it should've included a crank powered gear or some kind of motor with a few speed settings.

  • Blunty you're getting a bit worked up about this hey? Don't get me wrong, I love your enthusiasm and you won't get the message across properly if you don't get energized but wow. You really didn't like this thing hey? Oh and on a slightly different topic, can you purchase the feet separately? Perhaps you could get the base then do a DIY attachment & roller system.

  • @MrLouisBrooks >_> if I dropping tht kinda money on something that sucked I'd be way more pissed tha he is...

through the whole review I was thinking "Man... it must have only cost 25 to 40 bucks..."

then he said 100 and I had a good WTF moment...`

  • god it looks terrible dear god. so much jittering.

  • thats not a glidecam isit?

  • @ascortjkk Same company, Glidetrack.

  • Clicked the link curious about the price, guessing around 20-30$. Was very unpleasantly surprised.

  • Even if it didn't have the jitter while moving the mount, the mount itself should have a better turning mechanism...

  • lol

  • Can you replace the sled with a better one?

  • Blunty you're the best, i am not in the least bit interested in camera's or most of the tech you review yet i absolutely love watching your reviews as there just so entertaining, keep up the good work mate, glad i subbed to you ^^

  • What a shame. Such a cool device otherwise, I got real excited for a few minutes.

  • well. if it can't be used for it's intended purpose pull the sled off and used the track to beat some sense into the designers and whoever came up with the packing.

  • or is it just fast forwarded?

  • What did you do to the shots of your hands and the slider to make the motion so funky? I like it.

  • Blunty, to make it slide smoothly, attach a rubber band on the bit that holds the iPhone, then pull the rubber band in the direction you want it to.

That way, it should smoothly scroll across.

    SHOULD.

  • @pewdles That's a very old trick for pans with cheap pan-tilt tripod heads... already tried it, and it failed to improve the results.

  • @Blunty3000 Besides, after paying for something you shouldn't have to use a rubber band to make it work properly. Unless one was included in the box.

  • @Blunty3000 Came here to post this, was disappointed that it was already posted and didn't work. I'm sorry you spent your money on this.

  • @pewdles A better trick is to disassemble the entire thing completely, then throw it in the trash.

  • For 135$ it better be worth it.
