I put a small nail (even a brad) and length of guitar wire in a drill chuck and run the drill slow while holding the wire and with tension feeding it onto the rotating small nail. This produces a tight coil of wire which I then load into an adjustable cheese cutter fron which I have removed the original wire.
With this I can better control the depth of the wire cut.
By choosing various sized nails, wire guage and stretching the wire 'more-or less', one can further vary facet results. Bill

wonderful. I can't believe how potters can take wet pieces off the wheel and hold them. It's impossible for me. I can't wait to try this technique.
