Protestants from Lowland Scotland turned their back on the Scottish monarchy(which was Catholic) and moved to Ulster to set up land and crops etc. And then through the years they becamse a seperate race or a man made race known as the Ulster Scots, or Scotch-Irish.

The Lowland Scots moved all because of the reason that the Scottish Monarhcy had remained Catholic whilst the lowlanders had changed to Presbyterianism, and they didn't like being run by Catholics. They turned their back on Scotland and fought for the English.
