  • Learning to smile in the face of adversity FTW :D

  • I wish they showed more of the band. Hadjopoulos is great in this one.

  • terrible

  • I think that he should release a Best Of compilation called Hooked on Sardonics.

  • Kudos to the great conga player Sue Hadjopoulos!

  • Negative hedonist..

  • Great, Great song.

  • Joe Jackson is the coolest!!

  • Clasic song but Sorry Joe, second hand smoke does give you cancer too.

  • Cancer knows no borders. Maybe the Patriots Act should check for that while they're annoying visitors to their country at the airports. Paranoia strikes deep (David Crosby)

  • @wwwonderful - Actually, Stephen Stills wrote "For What It's Worth" while he was a member of Buffalo Springfield.

  • @YuriShedyenko While he wasn't beating up Véronique Sanson, his French ex-wife

  • @wwwonderful - "For What It's Worth" was written in '67, and they didn't get married till '73. So you're right, he wrote it when he wasn't beating her up, since they hadn't even met yet.

  • @YuriShedyenko bien-répondu, mon ami :-)

  • my own hormones gave me cancer! I got diagnosed last week with breast cancer, and I've been humming this Joe Jackson song ever since! I love you Joe, you make me smile at it all!

  • I was really upset when the old version got cut from the site. So thank you from the bottom of by black heart that someone else feels the same. I need my Joe "Cancer" fix, really...Love the irony in this song. Music, lyrics, and a bit of laughter - isn't that what our collective trip is about? We are all going somewhere. Hopefully i can thank Joe personally.

  • Genius!

  • Wow! I have a really old video of this show that a guy in South America sent to me on VHS tape. I've since burned it to DVD and it's great to see this footage on YouTube. Thanks for the post!

  • Needs more cowbell!!!

  • @BifMcAwesome Has claves, however

  • @ twisted...think i read somewhere that knitting needles are the cause of 30% of blindness due to accidental eye stabbing...and JUST as dangerous as running with scissors. (JJ is the bomb..can't get much better than this)

  • I love the piano to this...it sounds like something from a Charlie Brown show. :)

  • @RobdaVegasMailman You're so right, it reminds me of Vince Guaraldi. :-)

  • To think that the tongue-in-cheek aspect of this song is a hundred times more relevant today than it was when he initially wrote it. This should be the American national anthem (-;

    Great post. Thanks.

  • Piano genuis! LOVE the Latin "feel" to the entire song, as well as the piano solo!!!

  • My Mom died of cancer and she always don't think about it just live. And don't feel any bad feeling about your or my life.

  • Too cool!

  • Joe is wrong, not everything that's enjoyable is bad for you. Health Authorities have failed to find any negative effects associated with knitting.

  • Twistedsis you are too funny!!!!!

  • Night and day" Came out in '82.Same album has "Stepping out". JJ was a huge musical influence of mine in '79, 80. and just loved his music since!!! Seen him 3x, incredible musician!!!

  • Thanks, I knew that N & D came out in '82. I was querying when the live performance was.

  • This performance was captured on film in April of 1983, somewhere in Germany.

  • @cnm2908 Thanks, I had since worked it out based on uploads by eymerichnapoli whose videos state that the performance was in 1983 in Essen, Germany.

  • Great, I was hoping someone might have a clip for this fabulous song. What year is this from? I'm thinking mid 80's?
