Yes, I would refer to them as idlers. If they provide no objectivity I do see them as idler's. That is, they provide no substance or information to their audiences. Journalists who report stories and attempt to be objective are what I value not this. It is laughable to me that he would be called a journalist, but hey that is your view of journalism. Some of us still value objectivity and original thought. We have plenty of well-to-do idler's in this country, and he is one of them.

Blumenthal's book is full of both substance and information. In it he explores the roots of the far Christian right and their underlying philosophy to establish a theocracy in the US. If you haven't read the book, you can't really talk about it.

And I consider Blumenthal to be both objective and original. He doesn't condemn Republicans; he exposes the party's far right wing that has taken control of it. No one else has researched this topic in such depth. So, yes, it is original work.

I also heard him on NPR and thought that most of what he said was misleading. He gives half-truths to make the listener believe in what becomes a lie. He mentions those on the fringe but says they influenced the whole of the 'Religious Right' into advancing ideas of prison camps and a theocracy; if he understood what he heard and saw, the conclusion would be MUCH different.
