Now, well its good memories from your care free days. Life as you get older has more responsibilities and people depend on ya. Life in your late teens early twenties was a no responsibilies trip. Glad its in the past, but its fun to think back

  • On a Christmas morning in when? The early 70s? I was skiing in Vermont on a nearly empty, family owned mountain (Maple Valley?) and at the base of the hill they had a P.A. system and this was blasting through the speakers.

  • does this song belong to steppenwolf or to blind melon?

  • @ElaionMS blind melon dork

  • With some lyrical revision, this song could just as well be about those slimy peckersnots on Wall Street and those vampires in the boardrooms of corporate America!

  • God Damn the Pusher man, But what a good tune when your high!

  • whos the pusher?

  • @andrijagrgic the man

  • 5 Justin Beiber fans just don't get it!

  • @B3burner shut up, you're not funny my goodness.

  • 5 people are Evangelical Christians & don't like to hear GD on any given basis.

  • @bucky468 I agree totally.... if you say "god damn" you ain't disrespecting The Creator, because "God" ain't his name. "God" is a title, so you could be talking about Buddha if you say "god damn".

  • hey everybody just wanted to ask a quick question,i seen the movie easy rider the other day and it was my first time watching it and i was just wondering were cops really dicks like that toward bikers back in the 60's and 70's just wonderin my uncle talks about a cop pulling him over one time and giving him a hard time but thanks 2 whoever answer it

  • @taylorwarrior2000 yeah my dad always had problems. especially if he was wearing colors. Hell cops are still dicks today. But not as bad back then. today it's more socially acceptable to ride a bike.

  • @urbanstien ya your right there thanks for answering man

  • @taylorwarrior2000

Yup, they were, still are for that matter, just better at covering it up! Great flick though.

  • Makes me wish that I was a teen in the 70's. I love smoking a fat one and just playing this song and just kicking back from long day against the political machines.

  • @ramplayer55 there is more need to fight the political system now my friend fight the bankers and there political puppets we are just cattle to them stand up now before it to late we need real capitalism not corpratism or corparate fascism

  • Audio4You, thanks for a great post. This brings me back to a wonderful time in my life.

  • this song truly takes you back; makes me want to play " Inagodadavita"(iron butterfly) right afterward....

  • Heard in in concert at Shippensburg State College at 1972 State Relay Championship for track. . loved it then and love it more now. . so true!

  • perfect midnight blues

  • to all my war buddies

  • Excellent sound thanks.

  • Yeah, Dr. Martin......Goddamn. Thanks for the addiction. I love you too.

  • Hey! Bloozedaddy THANK GOD TO BE CLEAN. In my life I have two dead and one still trying. Its hard. This song means more now. These guys are goin after OUR kids.

  • Back in 1968 this was the first song that was played on undergroud radio in San Antonio. Now in my late 59s this song means more than ever before. Two people had their lives destroyed by herion. Today these people are more ruthless than ever. I use the word people loosely. Maybe animals fit better. Thwere are other types of pushers too. Just look at some of the billboards in low income cimmunities. GENOCIDE! One day all evil will pay.

  • @The1superbeatlefreak

"Today these people are more ruthless than ever"

    Mass Entertainment Media

  • Probably Steppenwolf's best song,,,and just one more reason why I'm burned out on classic rock radio. How many times do we have to hear Born to be Wild and Magic Carpet Ride when this great song is rarely if ever played at all. Most of my favorite tunes are the ones the radio stations don't want you to hear.

  • @BloozeDaddy76

I stopped taking radio hard stuff years ago. Today's radio stations are the worst of all times. 99% wasted time and health. I feel thousands times better now that i am clean.

  • @BloozeDaddy76 the drug references are most likely frowned upon, keeping it off the air.

  • @BloozeDaddy76 right arm

  • @BloozeDaddy76

    Amen to this lol

  • right on

  • right on

  • I love this song, in a way its almost bluesy. God damn, god damn the pusher man.

  • @AaronMk91 I agree. I always thought of this as a "blues rock" song, and was very surprised to see it was written by Hoyt Axton.

  • Violence towards corrupt people is good.

  • Happy Birthday John!!! 4-12-2010

  • The Pusher was written by Hoyt Axton 1963

    search The Pusher Hoyt Axton

  • A "dealer" was someone who bought some drugs and shared it with his friends at cost. hard to believe but true. they weren't in it to make a profit and shoot anyone who ripped them off or competed with them. This is where the term "pusher" came from, they pushed it on people just to make a profit.

  • You guys are too young to know this but the term "dealer" was a person who bought......oh...say a pound of weed and sold it to his friends for what he paid for it.(hard to believe huh) A "pusher man" was someone who sold drugs for a large profit and often "pushed" to shell it. This is where drug dealers got the bad rap and why there is so much violence involved.

  • @MrStrathmorerogers57 confusion eXterminated? in those rough'n'high times the message (off the "pussYness") was meant to be simply clear/clean as that: the dealer is a devoted consumer also while the pusher is dedicated to the game for the "pig" mon(k)ey only! non plus ultra violent/virulent conclusion? push to sort stop short shop prohibition! its un-just and avantillusion. its a cry~me&shy~me out of control's care tactics.crackdown on the ugly o.c. system would benefit 4 the whole of society

  • I was listening to an army recruiter tell me since i had been a boy scout that he had an outfit called the Red Devil Brigade I would fit right into.

  • @wrmiller1956 them red devils are famous! they held out A week with almost no resupply, against the full brunt of the nazi onslaught at the bridgehead in Arnhem, Holland during ww2! tough men with A really bad plan.

  • this was on tropic thunder lol

  • have another toke and enjoy the beats. nice

  • Anyone that was born early enough to have grown up in the 60s-70s-80s are so lucky. There's nothing worth growing up on today....... :(

  • I dont quite agree. I am 44 and grew up on Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and the likes. But the 90's brought us Pearl Jam, The SMASHING PUMPKINS (my personal 2nd fav band) and the 2000's brought us Coldplay and Muse and Radiohead was 90's - 2000's. Good music is always out there... unless you count the disgracefull era of HAIR Metal... thank God that crap died.

  • I'll be 61 in about five weeks. You can't compare being 18-19 in 1967-68 to anything in the 80's or 90's. The soul just hasn't been there since that time. Except for the Sisters of Mercy.

  • Damn straight.

  • @wcdfilms coming from someone born i the 80ies I know what you are saying it is shit. BUT I do love this song. and not b/c I think it's about drugs. I cover it. I love the feeling and soul involved. They meant every word. The hate they have for the guy who made money off the unsuspecting kids. I get it!

  • I hate to tell you, but you are right. Even when we were living thru the 60's we used to say how it incredible it all was.

  • I close my eyes .. listen to this classic & I'm transported to LBJ's white house lawn in 1968 ... as I'm urinating onto the green, green grass of corruption. The Gulf of Tonkin resolution... what a sham.

  • @palmiero1000 Are things any better today ?

  • this was sunny happy 60 song this was dark.

  • Where'd you live at that time?

  • same here, i had to be born in thretarded ass nighnties, the only great thing about the nignties was grunge

  • Thx for sharing

  • put lyerics in

  • click on more info.

  • the lyrics ARE in this tune...you only got to take the shit out of your ear's and listen again hehe...it's the original track from the album steppenwolf gold..have a good day mate..

  • Actually Hoyt Axton wrote this song. And his mother wrote Heartbreak Hote. I kid you not.
