Hugh Gaitskell giving a Speech against unilateral disarmament

A brave decent and courageous man. His argument here was perfectly right and if you study the speech in more detail he argues for one man one vote over 30 years before it became acceptable to do so.

Very few politicians of today could cope with the heckling and interuptions Mr Gaitskell was subjected to during this speech. Indeed very few people would have the opportunity to heckle given that it can get you thrown out of political meetings for being a "terrorist" ( Walter Wolfgang).

He was wrong and showed why he was so incredibly divisive as Labour leader. He never could unite his party. Wilson did that and brought left and right together
