@jamminevis21 I'm sure he could if you paid him what it's worth, probably a thousand, plus. Very labor-intensive job, if you do it right. If an aftermarket parts company made these, they would be VERY expensive. LED tails that do nothing cost a couple hundred for a decent set. I say start with a breadboard, make your own setup so it works on 14.4V, and do it yourself. You can actually make a board and have certain lights come on at a time. Run four super-bright LEDs with a resistor in sets.

pretty neat, but how much does something like this cost ? i would like to LED my tails but its expensive sending em out to people to have it done. i dont want like it to say stuff i just want the lights to have rings for when there on and inner rings when i apply the brakes.

the arrows seem like a good idea but chances are most drivers on the road would just read your tail lights and when your actually braking, they dont notice the light change and just read what it says and wont react. Then again i havnt seen it in person. Is this even legal?

I'm thinking there was no interface for the wording but that it was all wired to spell the words when the source power was supplied. U have one power for brake lights, press them it says brake, U have one for reverse, put it in reverse and it lights the word back. same thing for the arrow, turn on turn signal.  This is just a guess. I would like to know if I'm wrong though.

I'm afraid you aren't even close. The power supply in the video is a 14.4V battery simulating a car's power.

A micro controller is used to control some LED driver chips. The micro controller uses a combination of pin polling and hardware interupts to determine what switch is activated (brakes, turn signal, reverse etc.) and then tells the LED driver chips what to display on the matrix.

This isn't a weekend project. It requires both hardware and software skill sets.

Signals are a safety device. This is a better safety device than the original lights. Better safety device than the original device is better safety, BECAUSE YOU CAN SEE THESE LIGHTS BETTER. It's not even for the lettering, it's just that you see the vehicle with these lights sooner than you do with normal lights,

which is safer. This is my opinion. You don't have to agree.

Ok, time for a comment by the creator. LED taillights have many benefits over bulbs (brighter, dont burn out, turn on faster) and adding text to the equation can make them safer and customizable.

This demo is inteded to show the capabilities of the taillight. I would never put "brake" on my vehicle when I hit the brake...that is for demo purposes only.  Using "back" in white for reverse is a good idea however.

There are potentially many uses for these lights. Imagine a demo vehicle in the parking lot of a stereo store advertising its sales to passers by on the taillights. Or police ghost cars with no light bar in the back window, but can turn the tail lights on to strobe to act light standard police lights.

These are just a few of the many applications.
