@webceleb I wouldn't really worry too much about it. With so many different words for dumplings in East Europe and the Prairies being the hub of the immigrants, Canadian Ukrainian dialect took on an odd twist. Instead of calling them "veraniki, they called them "pyrohy," which to the average Canadian... sounds like "pierogi."
So true baba or not? That's like saying Italian-Americans should disregard their ancestry because of how New Jersey adopted the Napoli pizza.
