The spreader attachment is actually the Diffraction Gratings (not attachable) which are also available on the website, read the video description for more info about the products.
Yes, you would be able to see the dot on the building but it would be much larger in diameter, binoculars would help for seeing it more clearly.
Well, going from those two things. Pointing at random places represents astronomy, a safety beacon/self defense tool, and a flashlight. Lighting stuff on fire represents burning, cutting and etching capability.
Great video! Just a question tho: You see the bit where you'd used a diffraction grating on trees at approx 100feet, if I where to do this in say a large hall or stadium with smoke, would I see all the beams instead of just the dots at the target surface? So it would look like a really large rave laser? Many thanks
Yes, but it depends on how dense the fog is. You might see the dot in a larger area, I was in like a 15x15 room and I couldn't see the dot on the wall until I was about 5 ft away.
@Akaalis. dude i would kill for a 5w handheld laser. KILL! wating for my 1w spartan to come fron dragonlasers myself. Its the coolest way to light a bonfire EVER!
i heard that the employees whom work in the manufacturing facilities which produce these lasers have made personal ones for themselves which exceed the power levels of 5mw.
They're like practically taking home portable incinerator beams with them. Dam I envy those guys.
I'm not sure if they make the lasers themselves or buy bulk orders from a wholesaler. But I'm sure they take home their own products rather than buying them elsewhere.
Well, these are legal, but shouldn't be marked as laser pointers, as the legal limit to a laser "pointer" is 5mw. If you buy one with the intention on using it for experimentation, then it's legal to own ANY power laser. Also, the damage done by a laser of even this power is nothing when compared to the destructive power of a .22 pistol/rifle.
@charg2456 What? What was that for? It is legal to own these, it's quite powerful, but nothing in comparison to even the weakest of projectile weaponry. I sell lasers of all types for a living dude, I hope people will see that guns are far, far, FARRRRRR more dangerous.
@Michaelrlz Duh dude, do you think you're speaking to a child? I know that even my 20mw laser could blind instantly. I don't deny this fact. Don't assume that you know more about these than others(-=

This video shows you shining this laser around the streets. Do you understand that a quick flash across someone/some animal's eyes would blind them? The blink reflex is not fast enough to save your eye with lasers this powerful, even hundreds of meters away.
This is exactly why these things shouldn't be commercially available.
Why yes, I do understand that a quick flash could seriously damage eyes. In the video, did you see how I changed the direction I was pointing the laser to avoid most cars and buildings? At hundreds of meters away, the power of the laser is significantly less meaning that a .00001 second flash probably won't do much damage from that distance. Safety glasses are as advertised as the laser itself and only morons would point a laser recklessly.
@JOEPROv2 Never the less, You actions as a laserist are irresponsible. If you are aware of the risk and consequence then you should not project the beam out doors. No if's .... no but's ... you are in the wrong. No excuse.
I would say that my actions as a laserist are very responsible. I use the required safety wear, watch for and avoid people and objects, and inform all spectators of the risks. Projecting the beam outdoors is perfectly fine as long as you know what you're doing and what not to hit. You are wrong for being a hypocrite because no laser enthusiast can say that they have never shined one outdoors. You sound like a hater to me.
Yes, the batteries are those. I bought the charger combo pack and two extra batteries and everything works fine. Yes, I got the 500 points once they posted their edited (shortened) version of the video. It's on dragonlasersfanman's page.
I don't think the rectangular beam affects the power that much. It might though. It'd probably be more powerful if you kept the laser perfectly still. Also, you can't really tell it's rectangular unless you're looking through safety glasses.
Hi, is this laser really that strong. I've bought the 95mW Viper from Dragonlasers and that dot is extremely bright. To the camera the Blue laser doesn't look that bright. What's your opinion? And does the colour affect much to the burning ability?
Hello. Yeah, the Spartan dot engulfs the dot of the 75mw Viper in the video. I used a Flip Mino which isn't exactly the best camera to record lasers. You can see how the blue laser overpowered the camera in the fog. The color of the laser doesn't really affect the burning ability, it's the color of what you're burning and how it absorbs the laser color. 1W is just really powerful and regardless of color, it'll burn like a champ.
Yes, the Spartan is definately worth the money. It's a better product (than the arctic) and Dragonlasers is very reliable. If you purchase one, I recommend getting safety glasses and some diffraction gratings. Don't forget about the shipping/handling charge. And also you have to purchase the batteries elsewhere. Try all-battery.
@JOEPROv2 Thank you for your answer. I have the sefety glasses and one diffraction grating from my other order. The only thing that I worrie about is to power the Spartan with accumulators. As you may know the voltage is lower, but I think it's less expensive.
@JOEPROv2 illegal to *sell* or *buy* portable lasers >5mw without safety features required for licensing as well as approval of aforementioned licensing.
Also no device may be classified as a 'pointer' or 'surveying instrument' if the output is greater than 5 mw, ever.
Not illegal to 'own', exactly. Different classes of laser have different rules for which features and or licensing they require.
Both the Spartan and the Arctic are quite cool. I wish someone would make safety goggles that are good enough for reflections but are not so protective that you can't see the beam. ie that you can go outside and see the beam but in case you reflect the power is minimized. Also sombody should make an optional sound sound synthiser so that when you turn on these bad boys you can get cool sound effects instead of just silence.

Why would it be a bad video? Quality is nice and it doesnt matter how it's edited, it's about the laser dude, not the rest.
