  • Who the duck is Nina Hagen?

  • gaga? może się i wzorowała tą Panią jeżeli chodzi o wygląd, ale niestety z muzyką nie dorosła jej do pięt; blada ta gaga

  • i had her first american release in 79"

  • Taka troche Lady Gaga.

  • Damn I haven't heard this in a VERY long time!

  • @thewordthatpierces you must be as old as me lol

  • Lady Gaga here's the proof you're a plagarist

  • @cohn6432 You're maybe thinking of Altered Images' "Happy Birthday", which is from 1981, so the same era.

  • @Mollylurcher yes it is altered images

  • Does anyone one know the name of the song where, (I think it's her), she sings the words "Happy Birthday" in it? I've been searching for it and can't find it anywhere. The last time I heard it was in the lobby of a hotel in Seattle last August. If it's not her, then maybe Siouxie and the Banshees?

  • Really sorry she is from Wales that's in england that makes her welsh it's just a nick name and if she seen it she mite get intuch with me I haven't seen her for a long time 30 hod years sorry have a good christmas every 1 ps can I put my fine number on you tube so old griefs can get old of me ???? Thanx

  • Not surprising Frank Zappa became a fan of Lena Lovitch. He had already hired Dale Bozzio to perform vocal roles on 'Joe's Garage,' and he enthusiastically encouraged Dale to sing and pursue performing in a band. Zappa loved 'sounds' and was taken with Bozzio's hyper-Bostonian accent, as well as with her natural ability to move from a low growl to a very high pitched flourish. The similarities between Bozzio and Lovitch are strong, though I would not say either influenced the other.

  • I don`t like the new lay out of you tube

  • Brings back memorys of me and my old girlfriend Sandra welsh when I was 15 one dirty girl .! Dave from Manchester happy Christmas every 1

  • @1905davidmorgan Why would you say names on YouTube?...

  • Song about peanuts, wasn't it?

  • lene and nena and the others were inspiration to the global pop divas of today...like vomiting against the wind...

  • i heard this yesterday on the radio and it blowed my mind

  • This reminds me of the first gig I ever went to. Rainbow/ Saxon at Stafford Bingley Hall. One of the funniest things I ever seen. They played this tune over the PA and 3000 hairy bikers sang eh uh eh uh !!!

  • Sounds and looks like a mental patient.

  • Fantastic, thanks to an ad campaign for a car I remembered it :-)

  • SUCKS !!!

  • Vocally she reminds me a bit of Toni Basil.

  • She was the disco witch .... :-)

  • The musical & vocal elements that seemed so original, daring & unconventional at the time now seem awkward, silly & horribly dated. I ate her up like candy at every opportunity because she broke away from the herd, but listening to her today is both a nostalgic treat (precious memories) and a sobering realization (time is cruel).

  • fast 30 Jahre nach Erscheinen gross in der Werbung, ich fand sie schon immer sehr sehr geil...Congratulations Lene

  • Great woman performer

  • Still worth a #1!

  • MAN> I CAN'T STOP WATCHING>

  • I bet she keeps cats.

  • @basemann42 i think your right - probably about 50 of them in one small apartment!

  • sounds like nena hagen :D

  • Magnificent stuff. Brilliant. And look at how Lady bleedin Ga Ga has tried and failed miserably to copy that act.

  • @Buzzcocks64

Is there anyone lady gaga hasnt tried (and failed) to copy

  • The original strange girl musician. Love it.

  • Way before GAGA..and ya know what....better !!!

  • 347 people never got their lucky number.

  • sounds like kate bush with a new wave beat.

not that there's anything wrong with that- it's still great.

  • i want a gram of whatever she's on o.0

  • @h34dfuk4r Just a gram!?!?! I'll take a kilo!!

  • ¡Que buena rola ,gracias por subirlata bien chida.

  • LOL - this is fun

  • she's my landlady. Serious

  • HE,S GOT KP

  • Amazing! The top two comments are about 1) someone who was not alive when this song came out but STILL ENJOYS IT (gasp!) and 2) Lady Gaga.

  • How inspired by Roxy Music can you be? XD

  • Awesome! Lena, you're a Coke Fiend #1 and you rock' em!

  • why all the gaga slagging off????i bought this track when first out in 79.since then we've had a great eclectic range of women singers.grace jones, madonna, kate bush etc.all are individual in their own right.gaga is probably one of the best new artists ive heard.she oozes talent.so lets stop this gaga vs every female singer from the past arguament.

  • @themachman19691 id rather listen to passing traffic. actually, i think id pay to not see her

  • Does her outfit and her mannerisms remind anyone else of the witches from Hocus Pocus? Must've been an inspiration for the actors...

  • This is what happens when you give someone day release from Rampton.

  • Comment removed

  • I think she was Polish.

  • @Feisty1967 shes american

  • got to be adam ants sister

  • what a performence ! so uncoformistic. who would dare to say that lady kaka is the same ??

  • Amanda Palmer so ripped her off.

  • @theoriginaljeffro So? Both are awesome.

  • @theoriginaljeffro I was just saying this today about Tori Amos and Kate Bush, now I find this. fml

  • Lene Lovich... I too adored her in the 80s. Actually, I believe this song was

released in '79. When you think about what so much of pop culture consisted of at the

time - Roller Disco and Farrah Fawcett hairdos, (at least in the U.S.) you can

appreciate how courageous and original women like Lene were.

  • For 30 years I thought Kate Bush sang this!

  • Lene Lovich, Cyndi Lauper, Björk, Annie Lennox, Nina Hagen, Madonna, now Lady Gaga... This girls stated advances in their time for clothing and music, they influenced generations... So they must be considered among the sacred monsters of music, instead just being overlooked and forgotten like Lene Lovich, who barely some one reminds her.

  • @AlArZu you forgot Kate Bush among those women :)

  • @moonbaby1o1 Yes I did...sorry ... Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks... but there are so many good talented women that companies do not make editions from their music any more...I flipped out when I went to seek for Some Material from Lene Lovich and the guy at the counter told me: --"Oh, yeah I remember the gal...but her music didn't even make it when they changed to CD format due to low sales and they stopped editing her music"---

  • I'd do her!

  • it's like wuthering heights :))

  • Frank Zappa was a fan of Lene Lovich

  • remenber is living again

  • ...

  • Lene Lovich and Les Chappell produced our version of Lucky Number. Have cruise over to our channel and have a listen to it.

  • Geil geil geil

  • great 80s memories

  • How can you not love a song that ends with the line "NUMBER 2".

  • LOL this song kicks ass! Alan cross' interview with Marina & the diamonds brought me here.

  • Lene Lovich, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Toni Basil made Lady Ga Ga

  • really? ay, ay, ay?

  • Gwen aint a freak (dork)

  • this is where Gwen Stefani came to find inspiration for What You Waiting For

  • Lene Lovich kao i Nina Hagen pripada njemačkoj Rock avangardi!!!!!!

  • God, I STILL love this song ! Thank you SO much for posting this !

Lovich recorded for a label called STIFF Records.

I used to have one of their t-shirts, and emblazoned on the front was:

If it ain't STIFF it ain't worth a FUCK !"

I wore that shirt til it literally fell apart.

  • zappa sent me here

  • Pathos, creativity, personality, messages, art. Basically nothing you can find out right now. Lady Gaga? She's just random with no meanings.

  • this song is great!...she's totally bizarre, but in a way that i wish more artists were

  • Kate Bush rip off in one sense?

  • @danno321s

not really both artists emerged at basically the same time.

  • Lady Gaga wishes she could be this insane

  • @NeonTechromancer........yeah, and in the case of Lene Lovich, she wasn't faking it to sell dvds like Lady Gaga. Lene Lovich was really that weird!! I was a concert back in the 80s in a small venue in San Diego. It was cool but she really is one weird puppy.

  • @markgunma Lady Gaga doesnt even have a DVD, shut the fuck up. Just because its a female performer who dresses strange, doesnt mean you have to bring up this tired ass argument. Look at videos by Bjork, Nina Hagen, Kate Bush or anyone else female and weird, and you see the same fucking bullshit about Lady Gaga. You don't have to diss her to enjoy other music. I'm a fan of all those artists I mentioned, including Lady Gaga, and Lene Lovich.

  • @NeonTechromancer thats for sure.

  • @NeonTechromancer Effing ay you are so right!!!

  • @NeonTechromancer can we please stop mentioning ladyshittygagaineveryothersentenceassheisthemostcommondenominatorofpublictasteandassuchcompletelytasteless?? Thanks

  • @NeonTechromancer Is she related to Tiny Tim?

  • After listening to her I feel kind of embarrassed after all these years of thinking that Gwen Stefani was "original"

  • VOCALLY AND MUSICALLY INCREDIBLY CLOSE TO NINA HAGEN ...

  • Marina and the Diamonds anyone?

  • It's a great song but we all thought she was a freak then and well we were right but viva les freak.

  • allah bin allah!

  • its funny how people criticise people like cheryl cole for miming when evidently theyve always been doing it..

  • Ode to Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.

  • Was old Mary Whitehouse still around then?

I used to laugh out loud when announcers had to say "Here's Lena Love-Itch"

Maybe just my warped sense of humour . . .

  • lady gaga can gag on this!!!

  • should re lease this again it would do well ..brill

  • i'm only 2 years old but i think this music is much better than the rubbish thats around today. and my best friend agrees with me and he's only 11 and a half months.

  • @TheWolvie450 Hahaha best comment ever

  • @TheWolvie450 Haha, well you two totally restore my hope in today's infants. :)

  • Love this, Loved Lene Lovich!

  • Physically a gorgeous woman,a very theatrical performance obviously influenced by,I think, silent films, but she always annoyed the living @#$% out of me for some reason.

  • I love this song, but like "new toy" better

  • MITICA!

  • This is good old "real" music that you can have a dance too.. not like the boring sterile manufactured rubbish of today.. eat your heart out Simon Cowell.. you and your X factor cronies have destroyed all this brilliant originality with your yankee type TV shows.. created to make you rich and the rest of us the poorer..

  • Im 18 and my friends think im a right wierdo for listening to 80s gems like this...

Fuck em :L They're missing out BIG TIME!!!!!

  • @furyplum44 tell them youre older lol it was early 1979

  • @furyplum44 just tell them that's where you're coming from, and that your lucky number is one, so you've everything you need to keep you satisfied. and that there's nothing they can do to change your mind. ah! oh! ah! oh!

  • @furyplum44 YOU ROCK! THEY DON't DESERVE YOU! I'm 13 btw

  • @Bulbasaur483 Get a life.

  • @xreddragonx Are you speaking to a mirror?

  • @Bulbasaur483 I'm speaking to a 13 year-old who thinks he's cool for liking the past. You brats got nothing going on these days, do you?

  • @furyplum44 Or maybe they're annoyed by you bragging about it. Like you do here.

  • @furyplum44 fyi.... this first came out around 1977, I remember as i was only about 8-9 years old at the time.

  • @furyplum44 Correction... it was early 1979... I was 8

  • @furyplum44 Correction.. it was early 1979. I was 10

  • @furyplum44 you've got taste bubba

  • @furyplum44 actually, this is a 70's gem, although I think it's cool you have a free and curious spirit to check out all kinds of music without worrying about what anyone might think. Please, don't let other's ignorance kill that - especially if you're a musician

  • @furyplum44 cool....:)

  • @furyplum44 Your friends are probably listening to Lady gaga. She's shit! This is the real deal!

  • YOU STILL WOULD THO WOULD'NT YA

  • Délirant!

Sa voix se rapproche fort à celle de Kate Bush et Gwen Stefani (dans un autre genre)!

  • Die Olle hat sie nich alle

  • She was my Lady Gaga of the 80's.

  • She looks kinda kinky, works for me...

  • well said Vamp, that wass a funky time

  • loooks like shes aving a bad doo on LSD or mushrooms

  • im still a big TOYAH fan, but this song as many from the 80s, stays with me 4 ever.

  • The 'Stateless' album is great

  • is it me or is the guitar part from soul man

  • I love this woman!!!

  • Zappa liked this song

  • Absolutely fantastic AND mad as a box of frogs as well!

  • @celtostara Fantastic AND mad -- I couldn't have said it better. This kind of tune along with early XTC and Gang of Four (and more) give me a reason to look back at the 80s fondly, despite my own weird hair and shoes.

  • 24 people are justin Bieber fans,,,fringe floppin' faggots,,....

  • horrible

  • At least she was original!!!! I'll take one Lena, Nina or Siouxsie over 100 britney any time!

  • Very Kate Bush.

  • @whammy0000 reminds me of a cross between kate bush and gwen stefani!

  • @snowball1988 Gwen really listened to this if you ask me.

  • Cool song...

  • "Ringo, tell that bitch to chill!"
