Not surprising Frank Zappa became a fan of Lena Lovitch. He had already hired Dale Bozzio to perform vocal roles on 'Joe's Garage,' and he enthusiastically encouraged Dale to sing and pursue performing in a band. Zappa loved 'sounds' and was taken with Bozzio's hyper-Bostonian accent, as well as with her natural ability to move from a low growl to a very high pitched flourish. The similarities between Bozzio and Lovitch are strong, though I would not say either influenced the other.

released in '79. When you think about what so much of pop culture consisted of at the
