The songs Felix and his crew made take me back to my childhood!! LOL Great great songs!! Like many artists of this era, they are REAL performers. When you hear them live, they are playing THEIR music! Just the way we remember it sounded on the 45!! LOLOL It was a simpler, better time for my family. Maybe for a lot of other people too! There is no music, or group like this today. The message they tried to convey with this song in particular still rings true today,...."PEOPLE GOT TO BE FREE!!"

Great video. saw Rascals in 1969 at UMass Amherst after we traveled from Springfield to the Boston area, a summer theatre concert that was cancelled. It was worth the wait.

What a song. I heard Felix and The Rascals were truly sincere with their causes during this point in time when our country was still struggling to make life equal for all people regardless of the colors of their skins, of their religions, and so forth. Felix Cavaliere is one of the greatest vocalist EVER! His voice his range and soulfulness still to this day amazes me!I can only hope that he knows the positive impact he and his music has had on so many lives including mine.

I've listened to Felix back in the day and at recent performances, it's like "is it live or is it Memorex? I was lucky enough to meet him on several ocassions, he is such a gentle soul with a heart as big as New York!! Keep up the good work Felix you are sooo LOVED by us!

Gene Cornish has a Steve Cropper/Cornell Dupree sliding-sixth groove going. I met Felix in 2005 on Wall Street. It was a corporate event and he was hired for the entertainment. I was one of the bartenders and couldn't believe my luck when I started my shift that day and saw him on stage doing his soundcheck. I HAD to speak to him and found he was the nicest guy in the world.Felix told me he'd just finished a CD with Steve Cropper.I've geen waiting and now found out it is up for a Grammy. GREAT.

I grew up in the l960's and me and a friend of mine actually called up Dino Dinelli the drummer on the phone (yes, phone numbers of entertainers were listed) we sang a song to him on the phone. Being a baby boomer, I learned alot from from bein a Hippy. One of the greatest records of the late '60s. Blue-eyed gospel/soul anthem with fabulous vocals, kick-ass horns, guitar, organ. Beautifully arranged and a production masterpiece. Great funky groove in the ending vamp. Only flaw? Too short, you want a couple more choruses. But perhaps as a result only more forceful as a short, direct statement in the middle of a tumultuous year, 1968. This and many other of their records, e.g. "How Can I Be Sure?" are gems which will last forever.
