@bleedadream777 Since ATR-42 are so similar to ATR-72 they are easily retrofitted to be same as reliable as the 72's. I believe that company added some antifreezing gear.
@prediger3000 The aircraft of the accident was an ATR-72 not an ATR-42 moreover the ATR-72 have been improved to withstand icy conditions..ATR-42 also is very reliable if the wether condition isnt too windy/cold (same as most turboprops). ANyway if you are looking for a turboprop that can fly safely through extreme cold conditions then fly with an Antonov 24. Despite their reputation if serviced properly the russian made airplanes are much better and safer for extreme conditions.

This ATR-42 is an insecure plane. Three days ago another one vanished in Cuba. A series of incidents. I would not fly with this one
