I disagree. I don't feel that illegal drugs (presumably illegal, because alcohol and cigarettes are hardly controversial) should be used at shows. It really is a nuisance for those of us that don't want to be around it, but love our live music. Also, I agree with you in the sense that it should be sheltered away from minors if it is to happen. I really feel that drugs are not a life enhancer and should not be treated that way. I just don't want my kids to learn things from the whackos at shows.

Some people have fun doing things you might not agree with. Michael Vick has fun killing dogs. Just because people are having fun doesn't make it okay. You sound like a kid in the 60s...we're all having fun man... Not to insult you, but you might want to rethink that.

I just had a friend die of heroin addiction issues on Thanksgiving day, and it's not like he just woke up one day and said "i think i'll just shoot up today." It was more of the attitude "weed is okay every now and then responsibly..." and then it evolved. I guarantee if he were alive today, he would recommend people never even take that first puff.

That aside and back to our original chat, I just don't like being around it but I love my live music. People should just do it before they arrive.

I'm glad to hear that you would never pick that up. I don't even know you, but I'm glad for you. I'm glad you see my insight to things like that. People do see drugs as fun, but where does it stop? If it were more manageable, I don't think it would have the bad rapport it has. Thanks for your consideration about my friend. He just got out of rehab and really tried to kick the habit, couldn't do it, and then saw his only way out as suicide. It was tragic. I never want anyone to go through that.

People will defend alcohol to no end just because its illegal even tho it is destroyin society. I imagine DMB would be one of the greatest bands in the world to see live- unfortunately, I'm probably the only Dave Matthews fan in the world who likes to avoid a contact buzz. =P Maybe at Summerfest or Alpine Valley, one of those venues where the smoke's not too band.
