why would you even spend money on this, i know it IS a good project but no mouse and having to look at a nokia screen would be kinda hard... NO OFENCE!
It (for some strange reason) still amazes me how dumb some people are. There were no "netbooks" back at 2006. There were some tiny, but VERY expensive Sony Vaios. I really like what he did there. I'm also a geek and that thing you put together there put a smile on my face! :-)
sorry but i think that's very stupid idea.. i think nokia 770 isn't even cheaper than some laptops.. small size costs. and that box is soo big!! isn't 770 idea is that you put it in pocket!!
plzplzplz help me i know how to make the cables and psu but i neeed help with the software i dont no how to set my nokia 770 to host mode plz respond thaks
maybe im goin to get some stick over this but... would u not just use it as its meant to be used. i mean.. its no longer mobile. u have a great mobile device thats been demobelised so to speak and u have a real shit low-spec laptop.... c'mon!!! hu? hu? whats that about? (-: i do like the wire though. gave me a realy good ida. so thanks for that. best of luck with it!
hey this has nuthing to do with this video, but i wus wondering if sumone can help me out
idk shit bout computers, but i got this laptop like 4 months ago, and just recently my charger started making this beeping sound and wouldnt charge my computer. sometimes itd work again, but for the last two days it wont charge my laptop. is it broken?
how do you play videos that fill the screen on the n 770. My videos have 2 plack bars (as if it 4:3 format) on each side. Do you use a different resolution whjen cinverting the files . i use 320x240. help!
Nice!!! I really like that the 770 works with a keyboard, I was planning on getting a flexible one to go with mine (when I get it). What's that battery for? I mean there is the battery inside the 770, is it to extend the battery life, making it more like a laptop?
In any case, awesome little set-up. Especially the hard case.
Excellent project thoughtfix. The quick open/close and rugged protection is sweet. I agree a speaker mod would be the next step in adding something to it - you've probably got the space for another battery and speakers.
I made something like this but a lot smaller for a Dell Axim X51v using a BT kb and mouse. V1 was using cardboard, and around the size of a VHS case. V2 fit into a cheap Nintendo DS case and was pocketable and way more carryable than this (no offense!). V3 will be for the Nokia 770, materials unknown at this point.
kinda defeats purpose of having a small unit just to make it large again.. oh well.. it was cool though... I have not decided to get a wince device though for the same price.
i am sorry, what was that "kizmat"?

"Noh-kia". I love it when people say that (instead of "Nok-eah")!

Everything is bigger in 2006 including a mini keyboard. Now you can buy yourself a Bluetooth palm size keyboard that fits in your pocket.

@voon100 Yeh, I'm getting a bt kb for my N800 which is smaller than the darn thing!

I want one! Could you fit those stereo speakers in the case too? N770 only has mono speaker but of course N810 has good stereo speakers already.

Smaller, costs less, less worried about losing it, there's a variety of reasons if you bother to think about it

352x288 seems to work, highest quality my 770 would take for some reason...maybe it's an issue of software, I'm not sure

the battery is to power the usb hub and the 770...
guapohombre68 4 years ago
Ok, but is that really needed? I got the 770 and an adapter, just not the keyboard yet. I thought it would just draw power from the 770..
Cowboy77 4 years ago
it will draw a lot of power, the battery triples the life of the nokia

doesn't the keyboard scratch the screen when you close it? because the keyboard is not locked to the case.

Nice. I just bought a nokia 770 and this is great news. Just in time for defcon! :) Thanks for the contribution.
Do you think 770 + GPS receiver and maemo mapper is feasable for low price GPS?

it's easy to ask what the point is- especially when it is as big as this is. But, I'd say there is a point. It's modular. It's cheaper. It's fun!
