I'm sensing some bitterness in the last comment. Maybe life didn't work out quite as planned. More than likely their favorite soprano is either dead, or forgotten, or simply wasn't the equal of Dame Joan. Sadly, insulting Dame Joan won't change that, and neither will it change history. Dame Joan will be remembered as the greatest singing voice of the last century, and for obvious reasons.
Not the equal of Dame Joan? Like anyone could be. Sutherland is typically left off the list when self-appointed cognoscenti want to brickbrack about favorites, and for good reason: Her inclusion changes the debate. Curious as to what you think about Tetrazzini, Ponselle and Tebaldi?
