  • If you contain a private pilot license are you able to fly a light sport aircraft ?

  • @bobsagetgay Yes private pilots can fly light sport aircraft

  • Good info. Thanks for the tips.

  • love the plane "wot is she '

  • @spud1252 the main featured here is the interplane skyboy

  • very short but very useful

  • Paul, buying an XAIR f model with N number. I have a pp lic with 140 hours. I understand I need 150 to teach LSA, right?

Also, can I teach in this craft?

    Firefighter tim andrew, connecticut

    contact me: 1-203-217-7714 or

    pilotfire at sbcglobal net

please use the @ instead of at, and a dot before net

  • What is the actual aircraft flown in this video?

  • it is mostly an interplane Skyboy

  • There is a P51 look alike that almost meets the LSA criteria. Give it a few years and I am sure we will see a P51 look alike LSA.

  • Ha ha, love the P-51 in the sim, light sport plane with a Merlin lol.

  • how much a flying lesson cost?

  • hmm i'm taking them right now for $99.00 per hour. I think i need like 40 hours to test out and get a private license

  • I understand that in the US these planes would be classed as LSA, what about in the UK, would they be microlights or Light aircraft?

  • Most likely they would be Light Aircraft, most of them are not microlights, however there are a few that would fall into the microlight catagory.

  • Hmm, our "microlight" specs afe fairly diffrent to your "ultralight" specs, i think I'll have to look into this.

  • I would suggest that you do, I am sure You Tube is not the place to look for the absolute answer. You asked, so I gave you the best answer I could.

  • In Australia, these are classified as 'recreational aircraft'

  • These are really good videos. Accesible and easy to understand. I am sure these will have inspired some people to become pilots. Great job.

  • it sounds complicated.

  • Any ballpark figure on how much money ($US) it will take to gain a Light Sport license?

  • About $3000 to $5000. About half what a Private Pilot would cost

  • I got my private for about $4500. I obtained my certificate in 45 hours of flight.

  • How did you accomplish that?

  • not hard to do, if you study and practice ahead of time and during. Get a copy of flight simulator and play around. It even has built-in flight training ;)

  • HAHA i have flight simulator i love it so much im flying from Nwark to copenhagen now

  • so you playing fsx helped you to knock roughly 15 hours off of your flight time and saved you like 4k??

  • More or less. You still have to get a minimum of 40 hours across all the categories and minimums for a full private certificate, but yeah... I am a firm believer that if you learn (the right way) in the simulator, you will be much better off than without. The common average for private is about 60 hours. Those who train in the simulator, especially under the guidance of their instructors, can easily trim 10+ hours off the average... if they're cut out to be a pilot. :)

  • hm..thanks

  • very informative...thanks paul.

  • great vid thanks for posting it

  • GREAT VIDEO PAUL D HAMILTON

  • dude i so want to become a pilot when i grow up it would be awesome thanks paul i will remember your teachings!:)

  • do we give a fuck?

  • Great advice. Someday, in a few years, I want to apply for a license myself.

  • looks fun

  • Great video. Great approach to the concepts. I like all that you cover.

    Cheers,

  • Valuable information. I would sugest this to any pilot! Is this for sport pilot?

  • This ws made for sport pilot but the concepts can be used for any single engine airplane.

  • Cool! Thanks Paul!

  • Can anyone tell me what the aircraft at 0:43 is?

  • Thats a great lesson! One question though, if you pilot at night whats the idea of learning to read ground marks? Wouldn't it be more useful studying the instruments and mastering them first?

  • The I.A.R. 46 S is one fine plane ...and you can fly it with a sport licence and ppl....and very very strong landing gear...aldow it seems fragile :D

  • im a private pilot of twenty years but dont get to fly as much as i'd like to .

  • I have my PPL for two years, but don't get to fly as much as I like too, I can't afford it (yet). That's why I plan to go gliding as well

  • very nice!

  • I LOVE THE VIDEO, i wish i can fly for real but i wish i can afford it ..thank you for shareing the video with us! i fly useing Microsoft Flight Simulator X and i fly a lot,

    Michael

  • nice airplane, but too expensive for me .but sure wish i could afford one .

  • It is true that anything that has to do is expensive but don't let that keep you from learning to fly for real. You don't have to buy a airplane. Many recreational pilots rent their airplanes since they don't fly enough to make it worth buying. The new Sport Pilot license also helps to make it easier to get up in the air.

  • So cool!

  • The demo airplane is an Interplane Skyboy, built in the Czech republic. It is a fabulous aircraft for the money, it is priced near the bottom of the available Light Sport Aircraft and is available with either the Rotax 912S or the Jabaru 2200 engines. While most LSA's are priced in the 80's to around $100,000 the Skyboy can be had in the $50,000 to $60,000 range! I've got one and I love it!
