Is there really any fun at all with RC boats?? Looks like RC boats would get boring after no more than a minute of running one. Then if it dies or tips over or something stops working on it, you have to swim out to get it while getting your clothes, wallet, and keys all wet. It just looks like no fun at all in my opinion. NOW... RC trucks, truggies, and buggies are FUN!!! RC boats... BOO-HISS!!! BOO!!!
i bought one of theese ripped out the twin shitty kids 7.5 v motors and replaced them with a single brushless but i did'nt connect the water cooling systyem up properly and it overheated and melted the plastic frame it was sitting on took a lot of work to asemble because the old motors would run at the same time to make the boat run straight then turn off on one site or the other but obviously this could'nt be done with a single motor so i had to rig up a rudder which was very compicated
get higher voltage, the MaH is how long the battery lasts for. the higher the better. i have a NQD Px-16 boat that cost me round £62.90. im now getting off ebay a 8.4v battery with 3700 MaH
haha this kinda sounds like what im doing to my rc boat i bought at radio shack lol. i have a 5000rpm/V brushless motor ordered and a 30A speed contorller. the prop on it now is at least 2x the size of the stock prop. ha it will probably be slow but it cant get worse from the stock setup. im changing everything out and putting a reciever some battery mounts and the motor and ESC. like i said it will probably not be fast but its gonna be fun to build.
That little teeny tiny toy boat puts out 400 WATTS OF total POWER??? That's over 0.5 HP! Me speeding on my bicycle to beat the stop light puts out that much! But not for long.
you are packing some SERIOUS power in this boat, but its really sluggish....your props are likely too close to eachother, and those motors with the LiPo setup need different props. this boat will SCREAM thru the water when you get it right.
Are you using differential throttle to steer or have you added a rudder? If using the diff.throttle, how did you solve that on your transmitter with mixing and all that?
My experience of this is that it works with mixing throttle to a certain speed, after that it just going straight forward whatever u do. Even maked expo. so it throttle more the higher speed it gets, but with no result. I'm in a state were I gonna buy a rudder and mount it, then I can connect bigger props.
I suggest to go for one big motor and a rudder. But it will be a bigger job and modification. Please send me a PM if you want me to exactly explain how I programmed the mix.
Brushless motors provide loads of torque you just need to spin a bigger prop. Then of coarse you'll need to adjust cg, ballance, and prop angle... Have fun with it... lol
I don't know much about RC-boating, but I recon the propellers are too closely mounted, if you used stock setup. The propellers induce some hefty turbulence and ends up destroying the flow of water around and past them.
It may seem as a shot in the dark, but mount a thin aluminium (or any metal) plate between the props in such a way that each propeller gets it's own water to "breathe", if you catch my drift. :)
it must be too heavy as i had a stock one that went faster on 7.4v. the trouble with the crappy factory setup is the motors need water cooling, and if they dont die first they melt the plastic mounts. check some of my videos if you want to see some fast brushless boats.
I agree with jumpin23.I have a supervee 27 and it will do circles around yours.Mine is brushless also.Something is not right. That thing should zoom zoom across that pond. The stock supervee 27 does almost 30 miles an hour out of the box,and there are hopups for it also. One guy clocked his at 49.6 miles an hour.Thats quite fast for a 29 inch boat.Hope this gives you some ideas. Take care
Next step will be to add a rudder and fin on the sides, can't go faster without it without loosing turning capabilities and stability :) After that I will upgrade the prop...
check out my other channel..cactusdownstudios..we also have a boat made from 3 crashed edf jets...its a triple brushless boat
