yea i was with the IOGKF for over 20yrs, then logically moved onto muay thai, boxing, and later MMA, it was hard training back then but in reality not worth a toss, get real lads karate is both dead and totally outdated, sorry if this offends but be true to both yourselfs and students.
Could you possibly be more specific and argument your senteces a bit? Why do you think that karate is outdated and dead? And respect of what kind of use? If IOGKF is dead so all traditional martial art are dead. Do you think that MMA is the "definitive solution" to any kind of context and situation? I'm kinda allergic to absolutism but i'd like to hear more about your opinion. Ciao. Federico
@knucklebutty i still feel traditional karate is a deadly martial art, mma muay thai can be adde to the training, for a feel of actual combat, thing is there are moves in goju you cant use unless you wanna maim or kill the guy.
@knucklebutty - I'm not sure how anyone can say that karate is dead and outdated. Some karate styles are perhaps less applicable in the real world today but Goju Ryu can be deadly and for that reason alone it stays true to its roots. I never understand this comparison between karate and MMA. There is no comparison between the two and I know which one is better applied in real world situations.
I know these techniques like the back of my hand. Done them many times at his frequent visits to Iceland and visits to London. Along with endless star jumps and san dan gi. But that was then. But I moved to more functional martial arts, BJJ and MMA. Sensei George is great guy.

I used to train in the Marble Factory in Camberwell back in the day. If anyone has any videos from 1990 -1994 please post them espescially if there of tournaments that happend back then.
Looks pretty nice. Pretty smooth. What style is this?
