If you add a chord memorizer to that same channel strip in the environment you can actually choose which keys are played back in the arpeggiator...i found that useful.
@frazmatazzzz I'm not aware of, doesn't mean there isn't, a way to automatically generate swung arpeggios in Logic. Without adding anything external to Logic I'd play my arps in manually then quantise to my chosen musical subdivision. Obviously there's third party soft synths that have a plethora of arpeggiation options, Omnisphere and Albino spring to mind. But they are both "paid for" so approach with the appropriate scepticism!
for some reason when i bounce my track the audio from the arpeggiator that i recorded is played as if it were not run thru the arpeggiator why is this?
@nitzy101 Are you using an add on mouse ? Does right clicking work elsewhere in Logic ( and in general ) ? If you have no right click facility ctrl clicking will work in most instances.
@JamesAndrewMuir hi i sorted it thanks, you can drag the arpeggiator from the environment window straight onto the arrange window to create a new track!
@joristermors Hi, do you mean turn the section created by the Arp into audio ? In which case you might want to take a look at my videos titled "Logic 8 Bounce Export" which are on my channel. The same process works fine for Logic 9.
Let me know if that's it ? Otherwise we'll try again.
What is What does the "2nd cycle pass" option do? I've read the following:
(Bounce 2nd Cycle Pass checkbox: The bounce process takes two repetitions of the cycle range into account, with the creation of the bounce file starting at the second repetition. This is useful if you want effect tails (from the first cycle pass) to be added to the start of the bounce file")
@HOODYWOODRECORDS It means if you have a fx "ringing out" at the end of bounce it'll add it to the beginning of the next pass. Sound on Sound said.
"The cryptic ‘Bounce 2nd Cycle Pass’ option creates the bounce file on the second pass and allows you to add the effects tail to the start of the bounce — though why you may want to do this, I have no idea!"
Which I totally agree with! The only function I can think of would be for making looped samples but that's complete guess work. I ignore it!
This is my issue, I have my arpeggiator working fine but when I bounce the song down it does not show up in the bounce? I am totally stumped I don't know what I'm doing wrong? any help or suggestions would be much appreciated
@JamesAndrewMuir OMG! that totally worked!! Thanks!!!:-) I owe you one big time!
I've been racking my brain trying to figure it out, I never would have had I not reached out to the youtube community (JamesAndrewMuir your freaking awesome!)
I have the arpeggiator working great except when i try to bounce the song to itunes the arpeggiator doesnt seem to show up for some reason. If you could help thatd be great thanks!
@dtck34 Sorry for answering a question with a question(s). Are you bouncing in real time ? Can you hear the arpeggiator part during a real time bounce ? Could you just bounce or export the arpeggiator track and drop it back into the arrange as audio ?
Not sure how it'll work in your setup, it took a lot of experimenting to get it to work on mine. Basically I use soundflower to route the audio from Logic to the screencast application.
Am I missing something? I tried to "right click" to get to
"reassign track object" and nothing comes up. I'm using a MacBook Pro. Is this the problem, as it doesn't work in the "right click/left click" world of PCs? Is there another way of find this?
Without knowing your exact situation a few questions and a thought. Are you using an add on mouse ? Does right clicking work elsewhere in Logic ( and in general ) ? If you have no right click facility ctrl clicking will work in most instances.
Been trying to figure out where i was going wrong with this and thanks to your video, i found that i was not reassigning the track to the arpeggiator in the arrange window (whoops).
Oh and at 2:58, its actually the LEFT side of the screen! But i can forgive that for you helping me solve my problem. Thanks a lot, much appreciated.
I've personally never tried it with an external synth but I can't see why it wouldn't work, you'll have to do the virtual cabling in the midi layer of the environment though.
sussed it . thanks for the luck ,hehe . was so simple , all in the clicks and ports part of the environment, you can throw anything between the main input and the sequencer input and it triggers midi . cheers
Not quite sure I'm following the question. The arpeggiator is only on the audio instrument that the virtual cable is attached to. So if you create a new audio instrument there should be no arpeggiator object. If you want to delete an arpeggiator click on the arpeggiator object in the environment page and press the back space key.
Thanks for the video, I might be missing something obvious and this comment could sound stupid but, would it be easier to use an arpeggiator effect plugin? Is there such thing as this?
Glad you liked the video, Logic doesn't have an arpeggiator plug-in, some third party synth plug-ins have built in arps and depending on what sound you want they could be more useful.

Hey man,
I have a question:
In dance music today, it is very common to have swung arpeggiation but I can't seem to find the 'swing' option...
its been irritating, why are the only options straight 16ths etc, I want swing 16c options like in the quantise section.
