i've taken chinese class for 3 years, but i'm still not very good at chinese, but i know a lot of the little stuff. Those Chinese characters are the ones that match the words rat, ox, etc....but they are not the symbols used in Chinese astrology. I've researched this.

The zodiac you're talking about goes by months. The chinese zodiac goes by years.
