in Batu caves , demonstrators r cornered, herded into the templed n gate locked. then the police fired tear gas n water canon to the crowd. I can't find a reason y they shd do that since the crowd already confined.

The leaders weren't there? Of course they wouldn't be there!!! That was because they were all arrested under ISA and released only when bailed by fellow Bar Councils during the rally! So obviously they cannot be there from the start of the rally and showed up much later. This is because they were detained in high security Sg Buloh prison!!!
