Barnacle eats Alyx Vance

@ExplodingConsole the barnacle seems to kill most characters the instant it grabs them (see the chapter where you have a team with you). Exception being the player character (probably the suit protects him from that). You can see this by shooting the barnacle after the npc has been grabbed, alyx is probably also an exception due to being a vital npc. Usually saying "oh no" when she dies probably means that you can shoot the barnacle to save her.

Of course I haven't tested this. Just my thoughts.

@Kooolmun Try not to feel too bad about that. A lot of people like that sort of thing. Heck, I was recently playing Jedi Academy and iirc, there are things that swallow you whole in three different levels. Just look at how often cratoons characters pull the thing where one character swallows another whole and we even see the guy in the other guy's belly.

I'm sure there's a good reason that so many people like this sort of thing.

@ExplodingConsole You could think it that way, but it hurts like **** when something pushes 1000 teeth into you and you are still alive. Barnacle has teeth too in HL1, but in 2 it has stomach acid most likely.

@ObbaWalkthroughs Definitely. Whether we're talking torn by teeth or burned by stomach acid (assuming swallowed whole) or suffocating in the thing's stomach, eating someone alive would be very cruel. The whole 'kill someone by feeding them to a monster' idea is definitely evil. Sure, swallowing whole is a clean death but that doesn't mean it'd be painless or quick. It sure puts into question the morality of hero characters like Yoshi or Kirby that swallow their enemies.
