I was just expressing what I have seen in videos and on the net. And yes I practiced TKD but I never got far on it I moved to gymnastics. All though after Hapkido in my opinion its one of the best counter-type styles. Using your oponents force against himself and making several types of "knots" with your oponent's joints.
sorry for my harsh words and BTW i couldnt agree more with you about the fact that hapkido and taekwondo are very different. hapkido has way more adaptation and fluid movements while TKD is actually a korean interpretation of japanese Karate... its all about selfdiscipline and respect which is something that most ppl in the west dont like very much!
"selfdiscipline and respect which is something that most ppl in the west dont like very much " - drag54on sorry to burst your bubble but not all people in the "west" are racist degenerate retards so dont lump us all together just because we all live in one part of the world
yeah this fight was beautiful. it had more of a "real feel" to it that most of the fights from the movie. I wish they would have gave colin chou more of a fighting role than what they did
seriously?!? lol. not to say that this guy is anywhere near as good as colin when it comes to martial arts but you know thats how the guy from transporter started off. he was modeling watches in the UK
Bourne may not be able to handle being inside the Matrix. It took ALOT of training for Neo to get to the point hes at now. You dont just suddenly become a master in the Matrix, if that was the case, everyone in there would be as bad as Neo.
This was a part of the movie that really was a fight scene just for the sake of it under the cover of "making sure he was the real Neo". It was a bit tacky.
When you watch the whole movie and come to this scene it was really not neccessary for the story.
Good fight nonetheless but did not have a real purpose for the story.
Lol neo would DESTROY bourne u serious??leave all the jason bourne is my fav and his films are better than matrix and be unbiased..neo is the one learned kung fu in one day can fly and DODGE BULLETS FOR CRAP'S SAKE...
Lol yo neo learned all that while he was in the matrix, when ur in the matrix you can get everything enhanced, your skills are different in the matrix, now if neo is in reality and no matrix bullshit then he gets his ass wiped cause im sure u cant jump and fly in reality, now put jAson bourne in the matrix, jason is already a killer in real life, by putting him in the matrix hes fcken like 10 times stronger than he was in reality
1 tony jaa is shit 2 bruce lee ye big woop u would of said that if he wasnt the first on the scene 3. you have no idea of what jet li has achieved thru martial arts, 4 shut the fuck up
Bruce Lee is great because he IS great. not because he was the 'first on the scene'. just sayin. And Tony Jaa is not "shit". His movies may not be the best, but his abilities are shown very well. He does some incredible stuff.
Yeah right. We know Neo is stronger than Seraph. He could easily beat him but Neo was holding back. After all anyone who can stop bullets in mir air beat the crap out of Smith can and fly up too 300 miles per hour can handle just about anything.
worst thing they did was make him lose to agent smith. they should have left it at the first movie the ending to the first movie was amazing then they fucked it up
to protect the oracle, she needed to create the greatest bodyguard/fighter in the matrix, so she made Seraph, and he even killed two agents. imo Seraph won this fight, he landed more hits and is WAY more agile, and in a fight to the death he would whoop Neo's ass.
and colin chou (seraph) studies Wing Chun in real life, which is what you see here.
Neo was defending himself and not counter-attacking. Seraph says "I must apologize" before fighting, so Neo would never "own" him. Neo only puts the "figting mood" when he kicks the wall, and Seraph, knowing Neo will waste him, ends the fight...
This is true, I'm a large fan of all the movies and I never noticed this before, but him kicking the wall to move forward again seems to be the thing that proves it to Seraph.
neo and seraph are both extremely powerful. seraph has been known to defeat agent smith hand to hand. only differences are that neo only faster, and can fly. thats all.
Neo could have beat Seraph if he wanted to. At one point Neo puts a flat palm which barely missed Seraph's chest. If Neo had used a closed fist he would have landed a square hit. Neo didn't really want to hurt the guy, he was just protecting himself from the surprise attack.
seraph is not the one he is merely a CRA designed to ensure the oracle is unchallenged (he had confrontations with agents to which he alluded) as well as to make sure the one is the one from that CRA. Simply because he has 'more power' than an agent or can match the one at fighting does not indicate that he at any point was the one.
Actually, according to the film`s stunt coordinators, Neo`s fighting style is primarily wushu, and a from the looks of it, a northern style at that. They also incorporated Tae Kwon Do into the fight scenes. There is actually no `Jiu Jitsu`to be found anywhere in Neo`s fighting style. (See first movie.)
no.. the correct spelling is jujutsu taken DIRECTLY from the romaji which stands for the hiragana which makes up the kanji. westernized-corruptions are fail.
Seraph knows some type of wing chun variation and can easily beast any UFC fighter. If saying Neo actually has this power in real life, he can defeat like 20 UFC fighters...just look at that other Matrix Revolutions fight!
well i doubt that since they knowhow to dfend themselves pretty good ( neo and seraph ) so i would think twise if i was a mixed martial artist and would pick a fight with seraph or neo :l
Seraph is simply a CRA/pass-gate for the oracle. "i can take you to her (or allow you access to her) but first I must apologize.." present password. the password was 'power level' of some kind.
Yup, but the Merovingian has been implied to have been one of "the one"'s 3 times in the movie, even though he was reprogrammed to become another program. Somebody here mentioned that Seraph could have been "the one" as well, but I dont remember any quote that implies so :\ Sadly I got thumbs down on my other comment since people dont understand much about the plot or the "reboots" of the Matrix haha
it seems to me that the merovingian was a test program for 'the one' who refused to cooperate and then was unable to be deleted but was so obsessed with carnal pleasures, toying with ppl, etc (a complete negation of the contingent affirmation to humanity) that he became another method of control when he at some point agreed to play the role of the merovingian. everytime the one comes to get the keymaker (scripted) he denies them and his wife counters him. this makes sense with his 'choice is an'
Yes, I totally I agree on that being the closest idea that the Wachowsky Bros try to imply. It is also supported by the fact that he doesn't actually love Persephone, maybe because he realized that loving the "Trinity" was not a choice, but programmed as well. Seraph seems like he could have been a successful "The One" program, but besides Smith being defeated by him before in some form, I dont see anything else that supports that cool theory :/
Actually, Seraph comes from the first "perfect" Matrix. He is, an Angel. He escaped the massive reboot of the Matrix, and his wings (yeah, he had wings) were cut by the Merovingian because he betrayed him to protect the Oracle and Sati.
The Merovinginan is not a "one", nor he ever was. The purpose of the Merovingian is to control the Exiles from the machine world. Remember what he said "I have survived your predecessors. And I will survivie you." He has existed in al Matrix versions.
It is Wing Chun (the hand movements, since I'm specialize in Wing Chun) but, it seems that they have added some more few other style in this battle. Hapkido & Taekwondo (kicks). Not so sure about it but, it seems. Drunken Fist? Cool! I'm also practicing Drunken Fist ;)
I know Seraph was doing this just to see if this guy was Neo since Neo is the only one that can fight like this, but what he says next is just... stupid...
"You do not truly know someone until you fight them."
No exactly. He was pointing out how in those moments, you can't lie. I f you fought your best friend, hardcore actually trying to beat each other senseless you'd see a whole other side to them. Fighting brings out your natural animal instincts of aggression. So I get where he is coming from and I think that a lot of professional fighters who have been doing martial arts for a long time would understand the meaning of such a philosophy.
I'm not disagreeing that fighting can reveal who someone is. I thought about the same thing as you, that fighting can show someone's true side depending on how they fight or if they run. But he says that "you don't truly know someone until you fight them", meaning there is no other way to know someone other than to fight them. That's kind of ridiculous. I think you would probably know a family member or a friend very closely, and didn't have to physically beat them to a pulp to know that.
I guess, but I think Seraph is only speaking from his point of view, from the life he lives. Through his experience that's how he believes things should be handled because well he is a guardian. It doesn't mean there aren't other ways but I think you have to consider this from his lifestyle, he is kind of an outcast and only job is to protect the oracle therefore he believes that is the best way to know a person.
Consider it from the metaphorical point of view. Seraph is not human, he's the representation of a firewall that protects the Oracle. Perhaps that was his way of describing the "challenge-response" authentication method.
No I think Seraph was an angel in the first "Perfect Matrix", and his name is like Seraphim. Frenchman calls him "Wingless Angel" or something cause he betrayed Frenchie, and so he was thrown out like Lucifer. But he needs a purpose so he winds up protecting the oracle. He's so good cause he was an angel in a different version with apparently higher fighting standards.
I was wondering the same thing too. This could mean that Agent Smith previously tried to breach in to the Oracl's premises, and was then confronted by Seraph. Indeed I would like to see how that went.
collin's had more experience in martial arts, which is why his blows look like he's actually trying to land them, where as keanu kinda makes them look like he's just goin through the motions. u can kinda tell that collin is holding back a bit too, rather than goin full on if this was a martial arts flick.
still, kudo's to keanu for getting to this stage in such a short time
Haha well you constantly see him taking his shades off throughout Reloaded. And when he fights Smith in Revolutions, about half way through his shades fall off and the rest of the fight he doesn't have them :P
The first Matrix will always be the best, but Reloaded had some of the best fight scenes imo. Revolutions was decent(had really good effects and all, but they skewered up the plot).
i loved th 3rd 1 i neva get how some npeople dont. i mean the whole killing trinity to bring her back n kill her again n neo goin blind was annoying, but irt was still an amzing film by th end
dude bruce lee is a one and only martial arts wonder, that guy could kill you with one punch if he wanted, i wonder who the next bruce lee is going to be.... aparantly the only person who beat bruce lee was a Tai Chi master i forgot his name..

If I am not mistaken, he's the martial art director for the movie matrix.

Well holy crap I always thought this fight was much longer, can't believe they could fit so much awesome into a mere minute xD

this is the only film i can think of where a western actor has matched an eastern, in terms of martial arts choreography.
RaikenXion 2 years ago
in terms of acting yes but the credit should be given to the choreographer yuen woo ping as he was a genius to make keanu look great
KILLERZ0000 2 years ago
Aah, it's Wing Chun indeed. I think there are some other styles involved with the kicks, but the arm movements are mostly wing chun, if I'm correct.

i think smith took over seraph,
that's how smith gained the ability to fly
ChuckVanDamme 2 years ago
that fighting style looks like Wing Chun, someone correct me, i only specialize in Drunken Fist, dont know about other fighting styles...
LuisRamirez666 2 years ago
It is Wing Chun (the hand movements, since I'm specialize in Wing Chun) but, it seems that they have added some more few other style in this battle. Hapkido & Taekwondo (kicks). Not so sure about it but, it seems. Drunken Fist? Cool! I'm also practicing Drunken Fist ;)

I know Seraph was doing this just to see if this guy was Neo since Neo is the only one that can fight like this, but what he says next is just... stupid...
"You do not truly know someone until you fight them."
kevinrocks2323 2 years ago
No exactly. He was pointing out how in those moments, you can't lie. I f you fought your best friend, hardcore actually trying to beat each other senseless you'd see a whole other side to them. Fighting brings out your natural animal instincts of aggression. So I get where he is coming from and I think that a lot of professional fighters who have been doing martial arts for a long time would understand the meaning of such a philosophy.
vendetta89 2 years ago 10
I'm not disagreeing that fighting can reveal who someone is. I thought about the same thing as you, that fighting can show someone's true side depending on how they fight or if they run. But he says that "you don't truly know someone until you fight them", meaning there is no other way to know someone other than to fight them. That's kind of ridiculous. I think you would probably know a family member or a friend very closely, and didn't have to physically beat them to a pulp to know that.
kevinrocks2323 2 years ago 5
I guess, but I think Seraph is only speaking from his point of view, from the life he lives. Through his experience that's how he believes things should be handled because well he is a guardian. It doesn't mean there aren't other ways but I think you have to consider this from his lifestyle, he is kind of an outcast and only job is to protect the oracle therefore he believes that is the best way to know a person.
vendetta89 2 years ago 3
i agree, but not cause the line doesnt have merit. it was a very cliched movie line though.
brainwasher9876 2 years ago
Consider it from the metaphorical point of view. Seraph is not human, he's the representation of a firewall that protects the Oracle. Perhaps that was his way of describing the "challenge-response" authentication method.

OMG, a nerd! I am one of you!

He's so good cause he was an angel in a different version with apparently higher fighting standards.

seraph should have been played by Jet Li
vikasbhardwaj007 2 years ago
Haha, he originally was going to be played by Jet Li but he turned down the role

I wouldn have taken this film seriosly if Will Smith played Neo. All I would think about is Neo singing Fresh Prince of Bel Air or sumthing. xD

This is the best fight scene in the entire trilogy!

I was wondering the same thing too. This could mean that Agent Smith previously tried to breach in to the Oracl's premises, and was then confronted by Seraph. Indeed I would like to see how that went.
serialkilla2 2 years ago
Jet Li was originally offered the part of Seraph but he turned it down.
Wrxrtd 2 years ago
collin's had more experience in martial arts, which is why his blows look like he's actually trying to land them, where as keanu kinda makes them look like he's just goin through the motions. u can kinda tell that collin is holding back a bit too, rather than goin full on if this was a martial arts flick.
still, kudo's to keanu for getting to this stage in such a short time
Joker365 2 years ago 5
I thought they did that on purpose so that it looks as if Neo isn't really making so much of an effort
Yoganut319 2 years ago 3
Yeah you're right. It wasn't really a fight to the death, more like a fight to see if Neo's abilities were those of The One.

I love it how they can always keep their shades on in these fights, i can just see Morpheus pausing the fight so he could put his glasses back on.
randomlessons101 2 years ago 2
Its funny how their shades never fall off, still Neo probably needs them on, it must be part of the proficy.
SEAKNIGHTRC 2 years ago 2
Haha well you constantly see him taking his shades off throughout Reloaded. And when he fights Smith in Revolutions, about half way through his shades fall off and the rest of the fight he doesn't have them :P
The first Matrix will always be the best, but Reloaded had some of the best fight scenes imo. Revolutions was decent(had really good effects and all, but they skewered up the plot).
