Interesting that just because someone doesn't know what scotch guard is, they feel the need to post rude and vulgar comments. Really? Grow up.
I'm planning to make this 'magic sand' for my kids. it's cheaper than buying it online and paying just as much for shipping as I am for the sand. Anyway, thanks for posting this! You just saved me money!
@MrDkbear Your skin would be VERY chapped and since the fumes are semi-toxic to your lungs, you would probably get a bad headache and or fall in a coma... resulting in death.
scotchguard is a silicon spray used for waterproofing shoes, so any shoe repairer and some shoe stores will stock it. in new zealand its available at Mister Minit stores.if you pause the vid at 1:45 youll see the label -this stuff is actually shoe shield, which does the same thing, or any silicon spray will also work.hope this helps and good luck!!
@SunnyGhost76 RIGHT when it said "oh yeah baby" i scrolled down to see you say "oh yea baby!aahh wtf" and i thought the letters were talking ._. add me x)
Scotch guard can be purchased at home depot or lowes. I'd want to line that pan with aluminum foil before I went to town with a can of scotch guard though!
This looks fun. I'll have to make some! It reminds me of the trick where you mix cornstarch and water to make a substance with properties of both a liquid and a solid.
What if your sand is already wet? Can you change step 1 to bake for two hours because it is extra moist? I'm doin this as my science fair project!! (:
you have to buy that scotchguard and then find sand and then bake it and spray it isnt it easier to just buy the magic sand?yeah and what is scotchguard
k guys.. it doesnt have to be Scotch guard. I have used any shoe pray that is water resistant. And well he said 'bake the same' and baking temperature is 400 so yah.. 400!!!
Scotchguard is a chemical watershield that is usually sprayed on tents, jackets or outdoor backpacks to prevent them from getting wet. Thats it. Maybe it even works with other products than the "Scotchguard" from 3M...just use google ;)
ok i dont want to sound stupid but im just wondering so u put that spray stuff on when you just take it out of the oven or do u wait til its coold off and they put it on??????
