  • This is pretty short...

  • Terrific! I used to have my daughter imagine she was a princess in Egypt, and her state assistant used to come to her with problems, like "Your highness, we have three golden pineapples already in the treasury, and the king of Nubia has gifted us two more. Uhm, how many do we have altogether now?".

    That kind of role play was really fun and it so did not feel like math practice to her.

  • Good idea. Math is one thing that's omnipresent. You can make a math problem out of anything you see. If parents could make a game out of "everyday" math, just like "Expertvillage" is showing us, imagine how quickly children will learn and then begin to apply it on their own. Help your teachers out, people! You can participate in your child's education beyond the brick walls of the classroom! :-)
