@urmumzfat - Yeah, but it's ARM Linux, so at the very least Adobe will have to re-compile their existing code. And Adobe is lazy, so who knows when that will happen.
@cyborgtroy I guess you're right. Android is based on Linux and it took Adobe almost a year to get off their asses and make Flash for it. At least it's done now.
Download the Q5 Update as this features full english menus and boot up is also english
it's not recommended to download from manfacturer website as the server is horrendus and the download is likely to take more than a few hours at 2+ MBPS
there are sources for it if you search for it on a rapidshare search engine, oh and in the new firmware the device uses 6.10 unbutu
Yes it does do that for flash video like youtube but on the archos 605 and 5 you can view flash animations on the web. Therefor there is flash player for the arm processor.
Agreed I would love to see this running Hildon, Ubuntu Mobile or Maemo Mer.
That would make it soo awesome, at the moment the full gnome (or is it LXDE) GUI looks a little tacky, I may get one myself just to try different GUIs on.
Been looking into this device for music, video and occasional browsing, but no reviews I've read have any information on music battery life... Granted, the software in the player is probably unoptimized, but I believe a stress-test with a 128kbps MP3 playing in loop is in order.
Can't wait to get my hands on one, which is problematic as I've been waiting weeks! They're flying off the shelves apparently, so my job may be a little redundant.
The hardware on that device looks good, but the UI looks like crap, they really managed to butcher ubuntu, so many clear issues. I would much prefer a distro designed for that hardware, not to say the hardware is extremely slow, but its clearly not powerful enough to run gnome desktop, I would prefer the device be packed with with Ubuntu Server + Fluxbox so at least the device could run at full speed, Still, I might get one, because as it is linux, you can always make it to the way you want.

Does pandora support flash?
CryptoDah2 2 years ago
@CryptoDah2 - No, Flash does not support Pandora at the moment.
There are workarounds planned for video sites, but general Flash won't be available any time soon.
cyborgtroy 1 year ago
@cyborgtroy It is based on Linux, it pretty much is Linux in fact, so I don't think a Flash Player will take that long.

I think that a full english version of Unbutu linux needs to be installed here because the chinese lanauge would get annoying after a while

Slow, tedious and no flash.. Why bother!
Oh, yeah.. Shake much?

It's ubuntu so ofcourse you can watch youtube once you install the flash plugin.
fatriff 2 years ago
Which you can't do as there is no Adobe Flash plugin for ARM processors, you could use Gnash but it's missing a -lot- of features and runs very slow.
Enverex 2 years ago
There is. Archos players have had flash for years and they all use ARM processors.
system16 2 years ago
that's because they don't play flash. they do it like iphone/ipod touch by recoding it on the go to H.264.

Will we be recieving a similar type of package for the Pandora
Pandorafanboy 2 years ago
I think they said it will be more like a plain brown cardboard box.
Hopefully the Pandora won't be negatively affected by the plainness of its box.
