  • Such a genius video to match a beautiful beautiful song

  • cool video ^^

  • Been listening to this pretty much non-stop for the past few days.

  • Fantastic Guys. Just freaking fantastic.

  • Humanity brought those things. The time period has little to do with it.

  • The modern world has brought us great things, ie Youtube. I still love this band.

  • @bawhite125 Yeah The modern world also brought us pompous Hollywood types, crappy kid music, shitty economy, useless facebook and twitter, terrorism, fucking reality shows, slutty so called celebrities, Star Wars episodes 1-3, never ending war, michael vick, useless fathers, murder, rape, pedophilia and justin bieber, just to name a few. The modern world brings me down... But what can you do?

  • @jyanyn Fucking modern people, inventing murder, rape and paedophilia.. what bastards.

  • @bulletproofmonkey101 Yeah man, can you believe it? Fuckin' shame...

  • @bulletproofmonkey101 I know, man. Where on earth could modern people have GOTTEN those ideas?! LOL.

  • @jyanyn Yeah those modern people inventing war, terrorism, poverty, and bastard children. Damn them... Its crazy how all of the things you listed are only recent phenomena.

  • @MacTavishToo Smart ass kids also bring me down too.

  • @MacTavishToo Couldn't modern world be the last 10 thousand years since he refers to fire and savages at the start?

Not that it matters its a beautiful song regardless, it could just be about how he feels about waking up and going to work regardless its the logic is flawless. Thats the way art is though, it can have flaws and still be beautiful. Its not a rational argument with cited sources.

  • Genius.

  • tralaala

  • 1:24 catches my ear...

  • @CloudStrife900X ain't it!

  • modern world lala chu wu wu wu... lala wuwuu ah ahh

    Amature Science

The Atoms That Compose Dead and Broken Things

    Cheers :)

    Glacierbrain

  • @peppersJF I'll check it out

  • I need some help the album apolgies to the Queen Mary is the album of wolf Parade but they did a song on the Queen mary I have the song all though the quality I have of the song isnt very good,,looking for a better mp3 of it,,,Iam searching for the lyrics,,,one of the lines in the Queen mary song by wolf parade is smokestacks reaching twards the sky,I would like to find the lyrics to the Queen Mary song by wolf parade can any one help,,,

  • Very cool video! It reminds me of some of the stop-motion animation work done by The Brothers Quay, which inspired some of the visuals for Tim Burton's film, "9."

  • Why hasn't anyone mentioned this dude's vocal similarities to Beck?

This song is so, so good.

  • favorite song by them :)

  • no, its not efficient, at anything but obtaining wealth and power for those who benefit. its completely inefficient on anything else. i think we all see that just in our lives. why does there need to be exploitation? why must industry, science, services, medicine, and every other job be for profit? its just brainwashing....

  • this is a music video

  • @dbenoit64 This is a comment.

  • kyle frazer- my little undergrounf best section ever

  • Anything after 1:30 is pure 420 material.. the breakdown just just 'clicks' somehow.

  • -couldn't agree more with you nugsalad.

  • :) pleased to see their videos have taken off, i was into this when it was in tens of 1000s not hundreds of 1000s. amazing band, awesum song (Y).

  • this music video rules!

  • The whole album is amazing well worth buying 8)

  • its not a very hard song to play. i play it all the time sitting on my couch watching tv. and i am not that great at guitar.

  • "Modern world I'm not pleased to meet you. You just bring me down"

    -Truth

  • the sing voice is like clap your hands say yeah voice

  • @fillthemurder123

That's actually exactly what I thought when I first heard this too.

  • really ? seens like we have the same thought ..but both bands are great right?

  • Tell us there genre. Listen to the CD and come back and tell us their genre. I don't mean to sound assertive, but I think you've become accustomed to the "imperative way" in which things are judged. By video and by review and by quick judgment. Though it is good to have an opinion, I still think they are unique and you are basing your assumption on face value and not real in-depth observation by which I will debase you claim.

  • I looked up wolf pyramid by accident first, haha. This is defs better,

  • I agree that they are similar to Arcade Fire. They are similar to Modest Mouse too. Modest Mouse actually helped them get a foot in the door. This is hard for me to admit, but i think i like them a little better than modest mouse...(lonesome crowded west still is one of my favorite albums though)

  • It's funny, my two favorite bands are Arcade Fire and Modest Mouse, and i still love Wolf Parade.

  • My two favorite bands are Modest Mouse and Arcade Fire, & I love Wolf Parade.

  • @toughbail456 I love Modest Mouse and ESPECIALLY love Arcade Fire but why is that funny? I think that this band, and I've only just heard them, they bear a strikingly original tang of musicianship. Like you know, when you listen to it, you haven't heard it before but it feels very homely... idk that's just me. Wolf Parade seem proper cool.

  • @toughbail456 How is that weird? It's all indie rock...

  • @toughbail456 why funny? af and mm make nearly the same sound, specially mm

  • @toughbail456 wat.

  • @toughbail456 Whats so funny about that? All three are amazing bands.

  • @toughbail456 Don't get it, why's that funnY?

  • @Ciesliktron3030 At the time, i believed they were very different bands. That's all.

  • @toughbail456 why is that odd? hell i love suicide silence, my morning jacket, childish gambino, linkin park, vocaloids and more. but i dont find it funny because to me its all just music.

  • @toughbail456 My people, i apologize. For some reason, i thought these bands were different. I really don't even understand this anymore.

  • smugfag is smug =D

  • This song presents an excellent musical comment on the postmodern condition, in which the "ruthless efficiency" of machines and corporations with net profit models continue to place human well-being on the sidelines and dampen the human spirit, all the while masking the truth behind the system; that it truly serves only a small group of people at the very top of the social pyramid, the bankers and ridiculously wealthy who control the system. It is truly an unsustainable system.

  • whoever voted this comment down is a reactionary fuckup.

  • Tonight in Berlin Kreuzberg yeeha.

  • This is great.-who's the director?

  • why can't i find dinner bells on youtube anymore?

  • Wolf Parade is by far the most solid and unique sounding band I have heard in the past few years in my life and I feel that it will remain that way for many more years

  • Arcade fire has a sound similar to Wolf Parade I think

  • Well it is just MY personal opinion/ FAVORITE band, and I think that they are very unique sounding.

  • Yay Tom Waits!

  • it has an eerie feel to it.

  • funny.. i was just introduced to Sunset Rubdown and I like it just as much as Wolf Parade if not more. Spencer Krug is awesome!

  • I love both bands but I think Sunset Rubdown wil be Spencer's band in the end...you can really see it through Dragonslayer :DDD

  • i would have to agree with you now. Since i left that post i bought dragonslayer and have listened to it constantly. It's amazing!!

I'm going to see them next month i'm pumped!

  • Comment removed

  • I could listen to Wolf Parade for ever.

  • There weren't as many good songs in At Mount Zoomer as most of the other albums and EPs if you ask me. Call It A Ritual, Language City, and Kissing The Beehive are the ones that stood out to me in that album really. I'd have to say Apologies is their best, this being my personal favorite song next to "Dear Sons And Daughters...". Though there's not a song I don't like by this amazing band.

If I had to choose three songs, I'd choose "Disco Sheets", this one, and "Lousy Pictures".

  • I hope when you say "good songs" in comparison to At Mount Zoomer and Apologies you mean "poppy, catchy songs".

Apparently they'll be recording a new album sometime soon.

  • Wolf parade is like the waves that travel through the air, and into my brain.. it;s like breathing oxygen, it comes naturally to me. And feels like everything that I find real. I might die of too much brain usage b/c of this band. Too good.

  • you just put in words what I've never been able too. You sir, are in the same boat as me.

  • Actually, after listening to it as much as I have, it kinda OVERSHADOWS Apologies...

  • Brilliant video, its a shame their sophomore album wasn't up to snuff, but that's not uncommon in the industry.

Hopefully they bounce back with something that's more on par with Apologies to...

  • Well HOW many times have you listened to At Mount Zoomer? Every time I listen to it, it gets so much better and better. Trust me.

  • Ok. So this was in related videos for "I'll Believe in Anything"(makes perfect sense)... along with a Flight of the Conchords video??? wow... Anyway... good song... Good video....

  • Same record label as the one that released the Flight of the Conchords album.

  • SELECT * FROM videos WHERE MATCH this AGAINST that

  • Video deserves an award for conception/execution, song is ok although I didn't check out the lyrics. Jonathan Swift would be proud. Spencer Krug is a fucking genius.

  • is this a Krug song? Doesn't sound like it at all.... It sounds like the other dude...

  • This song is, like, the antithesis of the Modern Lovers' "Modern World," in which Jonathan Richman declares, "I love the modern world."

  • Thats so sad

  • This kicks ass.

  • i wonder who did the animation work, it reminds me of this one woman's work with animating paper faces of the puppets

  • The guitar at 1:25 just slays me. Gorgeous.

  • "GENIUS! GENIUS! GENIUS!"

  • This is really the first I've heard of Wolf Parade, but I've fallen in love with this song. Are their albums solid? What of theirs should I check out?

  • Their first album is perfect from front to back, it is called Apologies To The Queen Mary. Dan Boeckner, who sings this song, also has a side project wit his wife that is great. They are called the Handsome Furs. Their most recent album, Face Control, is great. See them live if you can.

  • Moreover, check out Sunset Rubdown and Swan Lake, which is Spencer Krug's other bands, and there's a couple of sweet tracks off of Wolf Parade's "At Mount Zoomer," namely "Soldier's Grin" and "California Dreamer."

  • Kissing the Beehive is the best on the CD. If you can get into it.

  • These guys are both right. Wolf Parade is one of the best bands around.

  • i recomend i belive in anything

  • such a good song

  • 0:41 is my fav part

  • lol...mine too. Kind of an eerie, ghost-like sound to it.

  • Cool song, cool art direction. Seems quite evocative of the Brothers Quay.

  • this music video is freaking orgasmic.

  • heehee :D couldnt have said it better myself

  • one of the best music videos i've ever witnessed

  • Wold parade is brilliant

  • Wolf Parade and their music is the embodiment of pure musical genius. Krugs odd yodeling of his singing and boeckners raw shouting mixed with their bands musical flow create some of the best music I've heard. Every one of their songs keeps me interested. And those of you who speak poorly of them are sorry excuses for mentally retarded human beings. I say that with the highest regard.

  • Second album was kind of lame. I like the first one and some of the EP stuff they put out before that more.

  • their second was not lame, you are

  • You've convinced me.

  • Opinions are like ass holes, everyone has one. I believe WP did a better production job on Mount Zoomer than Brock did on Apologies, which isn't to say I think Mount Zoomer is better than Apologies. IMHO, both albums have their ups and their downs and I appreciate all aspects of both albums equally.

TL;DR WP are gods, and read my damn post!

  • tl;dr you just broke rules 1 and 2.

  • The second album needs more listening to in order to like it. I had the same opinion at first but i kept listening to it now i cant stop

  • The second, after about the 100 listens i've given it....is superior to Apologies. It's musically more intriquing, mixed better, and overall is put together like an album, not a reordering of old songs being fitted together.

Both albums are amazing....but At Mount Zoomer just....embodies a certain musical growth in their sound thats amazing

  • the voice is so classic 4 me

  • Lol ;D

  • such a good videro

    bitch

  • i hope more than anything youre talking to me, really i really really do.

you know i really do like to be dipped in cum. its one of my favorite things because it tastes so good like white chocolate.

thanks so much for your insight, really. because i was saying it was a good video.

you are the most intelligent youtube user ive come across so far

  • also what does "video is pronounced video is spanish" mean.....

  • actually there should be an accent mark on the e in your spanish pronunciation

  • learn how to spell psychology

  • kiss my tan ass 83! can you learn how to do that.

  • hmm I wonder what brought this song to written, technololgy maybe. Id love to figure out the phychology and thinking behind this song

  • this is amazing and sad and altogether one of the greatest songs of the last couple years

  • check out the demo version of this song. its just as entertaining.

  • This is the last video I'm ever watcing(ed) on youtube.

  • nobody cares

  • Poor Wolf Parade...replaced by robots.

  • does anyone know wer i can get a piano sheet for this song

  • i love the clip, love the band, screw you if you don't

  • perfect..no words..

  • this video definitely captures the creepiness of this song. and i love it.

  • go fuck yourself

  • then why spend the time searching a video and writing about it?

  • You essentially need to get a life.

  • I'd say for someone to produce something such as this, they have more of a "life" than most people. This is one of the most spectacular displays stop motion animation I've seen. So when you tell someone else to get a life, speak for yourself.

  • ...my comment was in response to SmileBit299. Otherwise, I agree with you completely.

  • oohh, I apologize. I should read further in the future ;)

  • Hey, can't fault you for defending Wolf Parade!

  • This band, Wolf Parade, has always been recommended to me based on my musical taste. On a whim I brought At Mount Zoomer a few weeks ago and have not regretted it since! Subsequently, I ended up getting the whole lot. Such brilliant music !

  • Where are thes from never heard of them in the Uk

  • canada, oh canada is where its at right now.

  • i reckon,

canada is definately my favourite place for music and has been for a while,

says I, living in quaint australia

i mean wolf parade, arcade fire, broken social scene, stars

    the list goes on

  • My cousin showed me this video...we are the owlfe parade...lol our last name is wolfe

  • One of the coolest videos I've seen in a long time...

  • What is this magnetism I feel coming from Wolf Parade? I can't seem to get away. <3

  • It's cuz Isaac Brock helped out on the album!

  • I'm kinda new to indie but I love wolf parade, the shins, tegan and sara and flaming lips. Does anyone have any good indie recommendations for me to try?? Thanks.

  • Sunset Rubdown and Handsome Furs is Wolfparade, so you'll probably like those two bands as well. And you should also listen to Arcade Fire ;)

  • Well first off, Indie ain't no genre. Most bands that are called indie have very little to do with each other musically. But some similar sounding groups to the ones you mentioned are: Broken social scene, Modest Mouse (both early and new, but I'm obsessed), Elliott smith, Built to spill. Actually, most of those bands don't sound similar, that's just what I got started on. Also: I would expect more maturity out of some of the people here, Calling someone a fag? Bah. Stop hatin'.

  • ahh ha ha! Your jsut in time for of Montreal neswets album Skeltal Lamping! GET OF MONTREAL.

  • mgmt

  • Modest mouse, Cold war kids, Cloud cult, neutral milk hotel, patrick park, ben kweller, arcade fire, iron and wine, the national, all of the music they make is amazing

  • impressive list of songs *thumbs up

  • Thanks so much everyone for the recommendations! I've looked them all up and love a lot of them :)

  • check out the cribs too..

  • modest mouse

their lead singer, issac brock, is the producer for wolf parade
