Problem w/ this technology is that you will need to replace the the light bulb every year (2000 ~ 4000 hours of usage). The light bulb costs about $200 - 350 for this one. So, if you own this TV for five years the light bulb replacements will cost you more than what you pay for the TV.
Buying a DLP TV is like buying an inkjet printer, in which printer ink cartridges cost more than the printer. Don't be fooled by price of the TV.
You do NOT need to sit aligned with the center of the TV in order to see a perfectly clear, colorful picture. The viewing angle covers my living room in full. The picture is nicer than an LCD, especially without the screen-door effect. The picture is similar to that of a plasma, but the contrast ratio isn't as high. The 3D works well, but you will need glasses... There aren't many screens made yet that can do 3D without glasses. 3D will be darker than regular viewing.
i love this tv!! it is so awesome,. i have it hooked up to my onyko receiver and jbl arc 1000 speakers and it is so awesome not to mention i use the hdmi cables and blue ray, it dont get no better than than,. sometimes there is some sparkly stuff with the colors, im not sure if its because of the ps3 i have hooked up to it but all i do is turn the tv off then unplug it for 30 sec then plug back in and turn on and it resets itself!,
Yeah but you can't really find a 65-90 inch tv (suppose for a large living space or home theater) for less then about double the price of these. I guess it depends what you're in the market for, I mean yeah our bulb went out in about 15-16 months after we bought it but it's $99 to replace, then again given the cost/size...still not bad.
I've had one of these amazing TVs for over 1 year now. My neighbor has a 47" LG Plasma TV that he bought recently and when he came over to watch football, this is what he said when he saw the picture qualty : "Holy crap. How much was that TV? $4000?" Actually, it was $1,695
i have one of these puppies and we also have a 52" and two 42" LG 1080P LCD tvs and i'd have to say they have the same picture quality but would go with this bad boy if it all came down to it....really its just a matter of the componets and the HDMI cables are a must with Blu-Ray or its all just a POS....
I just bought this TV, and compared to my Father's LCD....well the picture quality is just amazingly clear and superior to my dad's 47". Satanscradle, it's definately worth it, you better do some homework, bud....

i just got a 46 inch samsung for 1100, saves space, dont have to worry about the bulb, i can see dark scenes (cant see crap on my friends 65inch dlp in dark scenes) I read up on it quite well. It's a matter of preference, i guess a win win situation, dlps are cheaper, but i prefer lcd.

Does the picture get dark when you look at it from the side?
rkjles 2 years ago
Why you don't sit dead center of the TV when you watch it like the rest of us?
Haryazz 2 years ago
@rkjles not really depends on the light.
