im not too sure how to get this to work with my logic, i followed the instructions but Im just unsure of how to open it in logic can someone please help me out??.... (Sad Face)
@ronnierizap Hi Ronnierizap, I will gladly try to help matey, what version of Logic are you using?
Anyways If you followed my step by step instructions, now launch Logic go to preferences right hand corner menus and scroll down until you see Audiounits manager and scroll down to u-he Tyrelln6 check that the plugin is ticked if not manually do this log out off logic and restart logic. Regards D
Know what I cant believe? That guys like that manage to earn their daily bread with such programming skills. Its really a shabby-made synth which sounds rather average, while excessively using cpu-power. Some presets wasn't playable in realtime monophone on my dual core netbook (asus 1215b). Shabby work. Nothing is unbelieveable on this really shitty synth.
@tintini747 hey - let me see if I can help you find something you like better. Have you tried Camel Audio's Alchemy Player. That's got a totally different vibe. Plus you can buy some nice expansion packs that are not too expensive. Have you tried any of the TAL stuff - if you like Electro maybe the TAL synth also free. If you have a few $, Dune is quite nice and I don't think too CPU heavy.. Lots of great stuff out there. Just keep on trying demos until you hit upon one that works for you
@Konnekta I'am into Synth1 since I usually use a little netbook. This synth uses SSE instruction set. thus it manages to use little processor power (40-50 voices at the same time are no problem). but has unfortunately only 2 LFO without any delay. maybe on next updates.
@tintini747 - Seriously? Urs Heckmann makes some of the best freaking softsynths available. He basically did the work on this synth for free at the whim of the Amazona.de forum, making a synthesizer to their specification.
It's one thing to say this synth is a CPU-hog but to criticize somebody for developing and releasing something for free because it doesn't run on your underpowered netbook reeks of entitlement. Show some respect for the fact there's people cool enough to do this at all.
@xxxaccessmyvirusxxx yup, those are the guys. If you grab the Zebra 2 you get about 20 mins of use before a crazy pitch setting gets enforced and then you have to re-insert or of course love it so much you end up just buying it. I've got a Virus C and some of the sounds are really very close....tbh can't tell the difference
@TheSpaceCulture hi - I am not so familiar with GB, but a quick google of 'can garage band use audio units' reveals that you can. Just google that phrase and the top result will describe how to install in GB. You just need to grab the Audio Unit version of Tyrell. Also its worth taking a copy of Zebralette which is free too. Although personally I prefer Tyrell, Zebralette is great also
@peterobbo57 Hey Dude open your main Hard Drive follow this Path, Drag TyrellN6 Component Here Library/Audio/Plugins/components and then open Logic Pro.

@0019930418 To answer properly would take a couple of books worth :) I have just a few hundred words so I'll give it a go. There are lots of dimensions a synth can very on - hardware vs software, analogue vs digital, synthesis method FM vs Subtractive vs Sample based vs Additive. Architecture can vary e.g. 1 Osc vs 3OSc etc and then the design of individual components like the steepness of the filter. My advice is to find a couple you really like and learn to program them inside out
@0019930418 Yes you have chosen 3 excellent quality synths. Learn to program them and you should have pretty much any sound want. FM8 in particular is highly under rated. I tried the demo and loved it
@0019930418 The best FM8 tutorials I have seen on youtube are by NextStepAudio and ThePluginGuru. Check my subscriptions list for their channels. A quick search on FM8 on youtube also yields a lot of search results
@0019930418 you might be able to find one somewhere i razor and razor is very fresh so there are hardly any tuts out there so ive just been reverse engineering the presets to find out what everything does and thats been working i have a custom preset bank that include fresh, straight from init presets that i have made my self
@0019930418 I think what dudearlo is saying is that he has Razor, its a really new synth, so there were no tutorials and therefore he reverse engineered the patches to work out how they sounded like they do. i.e you just reset each section in turn listening for example how the filter impacts the sound and then the envelopes and oscillators. I think he was recommending same approach in FM8. I got Razor in a Black Friday deal last year. Might do a few videos on it if there is interest
@Konnekta oh ok thanks dude! ya and ive got like 2 tutorials i wanna watch to better understand, all after my diplomas tho. cause school is kicking my ass. lol
u-he is pretty much my favourite softsynth developer. Can't go wrong with them... Check out Zebralette, it's also free, and a very powerful wavetable synth.
@SquareWaveHeaven I fully agree - I currently have the beta version of Diva running in Logic with some patches from the KVR forums. It can be processor intensive but does sound rich, deep and very analogue. The beta is free and operational for the next couple of weeks if you want to grab a copy via the U-He website
@KovenantMedia hi - download the Component from the Amazonia website and then store it in the following folder Library/audio/plugins/components. Restart Logic and it should show up in your instruments list. If you search Installing Audio Units there are a couple of video tutorials on youtube
Na don't check out ACE try Diva beta thats Urs Heckmans uber hyper mega analog project. goes on sale this month the Beta is available till Dec from U-HE forum.
@FunnyVideoCollector Double thumbs up for this comment :) I've been waiting for Diva ever since I read about it about 6 months ago. I read the interview with Urs stating that he had used some of the modelling from the Tyrell in Diva or the other way around. Given that Tyrell is a tiny subset of what you can do with Diva I'm off there straight away
@faun2500 I fully agree. sometimes the best things in life are free :) Even some commercial synths don't come with Patch libraries as good as the Tyrell
@Konnekta Yeah the presets are really good. I must admit that the structure of the synth is confusing me a bit though! lol.
If your interested check out my sound cloud page (search 100mg). The main lead and the reece bass in the break down of DONT STOP are both from this synth!
crashes my Ableton so can't get it to work this is after it gives about 50 screens to click through that it can't load or find some files. Shame cos it sounds boss. this is the good thing about try before you buy software
@leo081969 sorry to hear that,. Couple of other good free synths I can recommend. Alchemy Player which can be downloaded from the Camel Audio site is excellent although it is a mix of samples and synthesis rather than pure synthesis. The TAL Noisemaker is great too - its a bit closer in concept to the Tyrell as a pure subtractive modelling synth. I also rate FXPansion's Orca synth even though it's simple, the sounds are warm and fat especially when you stack a couple and detune
@cwarrillow hi - this is just a regular plugin. I downloaded the AU version because I am working on a Mac but Amazonia also has the VST version for use with products like Cubase on a PC. The Mac version worked just like any other plugin, I just unzipped and clicked on the installer. I imagine the PC version is very similar. Maybe somebody reading this who already uses Tyrell on a PC can help. Definitely get a copy if you can, its brilliant
Tip: Please center the mic and put the mic in a floor mic stand (don't put it on the table next to the midi keyboard). You could also gate, compress and lowcut the mic for better sound.
Yeah, the Tyrell VSTi is amazing. Common knowledge by now I guess. Also look into SonicProjects OP-X Pro VSTi if you haven't (commercial plugin).
@DwineZiphy good point, I wanted to feed the usb mic through logic to gate and low cut but for some reason I can't combine it with soundflower which I need in order to record the video. I don't have a separate mic stand but I will move the mic away from the midi keyboard
@RockstarMusiq hi - I have put a link under the video. If you go to that link you will find PC and Mac download versions, just unzip, follow the download instructions and enjpy
yeah - its a big b*stard :) Might even be a candidate to sample off chords and various lines and play back in EXS, The new DIVA synth on which Tyrell is based will be a monster I reckon
sounds garagy/funky !
