You have great potential. But I do not know whether you have time for a rAkshasa sadhana. We have to do penance like rAvaNa. We are not nAradas or tumburAs to get God-given munAffs. I spent about five years on sitar. Probably my own weaknesses. My best wishes to you. You may like to have a look at some of my notations and audio mp3s compu produced as my sitar got broke. museyb.blogspot.com.
hey man, the sitar is so cool. I've kind of been around for while and I remember seeing and hearing a lot of sitar music in the late 60's and early 70's.
also, meditation is not an excuse for your music to "seem" random as you explained. The fact is that your music IS random, and not at all to the standard of Indian Classical Music.
@anjali831 thank you ma'am or sir criticism is greatly appreciated, I'm sure one day I'll be able to play to standards of true Hindustani Classical. but until that day I shall have to practice, practice, practice as they say. And while your criticisms are rather harsh, they are also true, But I do not play to entertain (although it may appear that way using youtube) nor do I play for anyone but myself. So your comment while valid is also completely and totally unneccesary
@anjali831 and please do share your sitar playing with me so I may experience what "good" or "True music" actually is. I must make one more comment as I am not that good with criticism. As you may know, music is a way to the commune with the divine, and just because one does not conform to the standards of a certain style doe not mean that the music is any less music. I used the term raga incorrectly and for that I apologize, I should not have advertised it as such. namaste.
