I DID NOT FIND ANYTHING THAT SAID THAT I SHOULD NOT EDIT MY FOOTAGE, until now, so it is going to be a little bit disappointed if it is not even going to be viewed by you

Might be a dumb question, but I used the privacy setting that only people with the link have access to the videos, I assume that since I submitted them to Life In A Day the link went with them, right?
i edited my like..2o hours of footage down to like 20 minutes. why? because you cant spend you LIFE uploading ALL your footage! that would take forEVER,,,,
its not just gonna be him going through all this, he's got guys sorting it out as well, picking out certain points of interest if you stand out im sure

Well, I think, like a lot of people, I edited it down to 10 minutes. I have all of the raw footage (whooopie... it wasn't that interesting of a day), as i'm sure most people do. The YouTube time constraints were what was on my mind. Even the one time I put a caption on the video...I still have the raw withOUT the caption...were mine to be chosen (it won't). Golly---if you are taking everything directly from youtube and not the raw footage, I do NOT envy you your job.
No Editing! As stated below, that info would of been handy to know from the get go!!! Well mine will be edited and conveys my day as it happens. You can have all my 'Non Edited" raw footage if you select my piece as stated in your FAQs...BTW I saw nothing about 'no editing " when reading up about this project....
@SAHIRA1971 I don't think movie maker is a problem, just don't add any effects (fade ins/outs speeding up, etc..) in there and don't blend the clips into each other. That's how I interpreted it anyways.
If a vid is selected they ask for all the raw files also so they can get the best quality.
@TuckersVlog That's how I feel! Doesn't matter if it makes it in the final cut - it's a "virtual time capsule" and we took part in something much bigger than ourselves! :)

Also: You didn't have to participate. It was your choice. And it's sort of common sense that they would want as raw footage as possible. Do you like working with edited clips in your videos?
@evanafter Well, it's interesting that this video here didn't show up until two days before shooting (meaning, it wasn't there when I was reading the FAQ and guidelines). And if I'm working with material from other people, often edited stuff is what is available. I'm sorry, but the guidelines were not clear, and this is a pretty important piece of information to bury in a FAQ or wait until two days before shooting to announce. Not sure what it being "my choice" has to do with anything.

It being your choice means that I don't really like looking at people complaining about how awful it is that something they chose to do took up their time. @evanafter In fact, I just revisited the channel page, and there is no FAQ to be found (if there is, they hid it well), and all it says in the guidelines is, "THERE IS NO RIGHT OR WRONG WAY," so pardon me for thinking ahead and not visiting their channel every day, looking to see if they forgot to mention such an important detail until two days before shooting. In the words of Steve Martin: "EXCUUUUUUUUUUUUUSE MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!"

i think this was the worst video put together to tell us about this u said not to edit i film lik 1 minute at a time and i could just put that into 1 1 minute long video or all my clips into 1 10 minute long video im editing it not much els to say

@wm17959 Go to the "Life in a Day" Youtube homepage, and in the menu bar at the top of the page you'll see a link that says "submit." Click on it and follow the steps.

@Nirandanet No, it is said in the FAQ's that you don't need to videotape it in english, but i you want, you can subtitle it, but still, it's not necessary just add somesort of title card to say in what language you are filming it. ;)
no editing u say hmmm. im a lil confused now coz i understand we cant use transisions, titles and music, but i kinda wanted to film things from difernt angels really and wanted to cut out the shit that didnt look good. are we not aloud to do that??

What about ANIMATION?????????? I started a few days ago and ONLY now have seen this video. My animation has CAPTIONS. Anyone know about this?
I guess I got TOO artistic and TOO colaborative? They just want our lives captured and nothing else.
This does make it much more difficult to be creative(not impossible).
Oh well...what can you do...but adapt.

i think this was the worst video put together to tell us about this u said not to edit i film lik 1 minute at a time and i could just put that into 1 1 minute long video or all my clips into 1 10 minute long video im editing it not much els to say

@wm17959 Go to the "Life in a Day" Youtube homepage, and in the menu bar at the top of the page you'll see a link that says "submit." Click on it and follow the steps.

@Nirandanet No, it is said in the FAQ's that you don't need to videotape it in english, but i you want, you can subtitle it, but still, it's not necessary just add somesort of title card to say in what language you are filming it. ;)

no editing u say hmmm. im a lil confused now coz i understand we cant use transisions, titles and music, but i kinda wanted to film things from difernt angels really and wanted to cut out the shit that didnt look good. are we not aloud to do that??
