Super Sentai series, the original version of Power Rangers series came out in 1975. Golion, the original version of Lion Voltron came out in 1981. and both were made by the same Japanese movie company named Toei. plus there were tons of this kind of anime in the 1970s. Gatchaman (1972), Combattler V (1976), Voltes V (1977), etc.

if you have never seen any Super Sentai, look at my favorites (Sunao).

and if you live in US, search "uncensored voltron".

come from their nature . For example, the yellow comes from desert and blue comes from sea ...etc
