  • Wow inspiring! great work.

  • It's fantastic!!!

Which softwares do you recommand for starting with 3d animations. I'm into characters more than landscapes.

  • Congratulations, man!

It's the best Facial Rigging I've ever seen.

No bones in the face? You did all this just by creating "targets" to blend the face? wow! Fantastic!

  • That was exceptionally great. Super expressions.

  • One person feels frustrated

  • @flashdesign85 lol not at all, there is just no connection with my video.

  • Is all of this blend shapes? or is there any bones/skinning involved?

  • @ahmad3adel it's all in blend shapes, only a basic skinning on the opening jaw.

  • 1:32, feels good man

  • Is there a tutorial for learning how to make something like this in blender? Like, how to you make the facial controls without having them directly linked to the model? Or how to make models collide-able with other components of themselves or other entities entirely? If anyone could direct me to a good tutorial, that can teach you how to make anything like this, I'd really appreciate it.

  • this is simply awsome, a little help plz. could u plz tell me how to move texture along with the movement of blend shapes?

  • I absolutely HATE rigging, I hate it with an epic and burning passion...

But THIS makes me like it =) nice work!

  • @MrLemonyFresh i know how you feel man, currently rigging a character for a project in my second year of college.....never....ever...again D: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK

  • @VexedCG Is it your first time rigging? I reckon I could do it again... mabye lol... for money. LOTS.

  • She's so cute! That's a seriously good facial setup! I haven't read through all the comments, but where did you learn this?

  • ¡¡INCREÍBLEMENTE EXCELENTE!!

  • lol so cute

  • What program are you using??

  • 1:26

    "Whatchu talking about Willis?!"

  • 0:33 dat ass

  • How did you make the separate facial controls? I'd like that so much better than having the control hovering on the actual face. Is it just the curves located elsewhere in the scene and you have a separate camera looking at it?

  • @PirateOfTheInternet : yep you have the answer :)

  • 1:26

    rape face

  • brother como se llama el programa, gracias.

  • Thats awesome. If you have time please make a tutorial on it. I'm intrested in the rigging and that cool toolbox you have.

  • @daczoka I forgot to ask wath program is this?

  • Masterpiece!

  • wow, like it a lot. I'm still learning.

  • Fantástico, muy completo.

  • apologies if someone has already asked this, but how many blend shapes is that in all ? both expressions and corrective ?

In the last rigs i did for my grad film, i'd correct up, down, left, right, i would have corected issues between blends, but it kept making the interface slower to interact with (was working with 3ds max maybe this sor of thing is easyer in and more fuid in maya)

  • This is the best face rig on You Tube! I want to learn it so much...But I don't know where and how...!!! share with us your knowledge...:(

  • The only thing I'd say is bad with this rig (which is the same way I do it) is that the controls are all on the side in a box. It's WAY better when they are placed ON the face. Way more intuitive and fun to work with that way.

That and it's missing secondary controls over the morph target system.

  • what features does your pc?????

  • What software do you use to create this awesomeness?

  • @MexicanJudge maya 2009

  • and what mode is this?

  • how did you make the eyes and the color of the skin?

  • Heyy u have done an excellent job...just like the characters in pixars and dreamworks movies...how much time did u take for the whole facial rigging???

  • @zubingala1 One month and a half, but it was my fist one. You can do it in 2 weeks.

  • @crayfish86 awesome, you'll be one of my references, i wonder what is your fps when moving the whole character?

  • who i connect "A" and "B" blendshape will plz tell me

  • Dude that is seriously freakin awesome!

  • Hi, how long did you take to create all those control and blends?

  • This is great stuff! I'm working on a class project, and am making blend shapes for my character's facial expressions. The blends work fine, but if I try to move the head at all while the stats for a blend shape are up, only the joints in my characters head move around, and not the head geometry itself. if all the expressions are turned down, then the head works and moves around and follows orient constraints and whatnot. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you.

  • Amazing !!! Not only technically excellent, but it's an amazing work as an acting (theatratical) playing, the girl makes funny faces.

  • What program is this done in?

  • Comment removed

  • Excellent work.

  • very nice rigging

  • Holy crap that looks so fun to animate

  • AWESOME. thanks!!

  • Coool! )) maybe i have to learn Maya too... ))

  • No room for improvement

  • No room for improvement

  • This is the most intricate rig I have seen. Amazing

  • how do you create a GUI like that? i'd like to learn how.

  • Hey, i know this isnt a rigging question, but how did you do the subsurface scattering? Is it its own layer for compositing? or did you render the color and sss together?

  • added into masterofrigging

  • please tell me what program you used and please tell me if it's free please

  • love this rig mate, really smooth blends. Would like to see a fix blend shape tutorial if you have the time.

roughly how long did it take you to rig this up? and was there any MEL used?

  • wow youre awesome and this is so funny !! :D .. i use 3Ds max .. but i think im gonna change to Maya .. !!

  • BEST facial RIG evaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar !!

  • I've got a quick (potentially stupid) question, what are you using to warp your CV curve version of the girl's face? I got fed up and actually rigged my GUI with joints to get the same effect you're getting. Are you using cluster weights on the curves and parenting them to the controls?

  • Amazing facial rigging !!!

Is there any video of this litte girl in a movie? I want see she in action :)

For this guys want learn how make something like that i suggest Digital Tutors Facial Rigging in Maya ;)

  • @hinoyele

Do a search for "Mon Ami Charli"... you'll see the short with her in it.

    Cheers!

  • This is amazing! I've only recently been getting the grasp of what the basics of facial rigging are. But I know that I still have so much to learn... I really wish they taught me some of this while I was in school. At the time I was just happy to be learning what I was learning, I didn't even think about the complexities of face rigs... I hope I could get the chance to pick your brain about this one day!

  • She's cute. If I was a polymesh... she would be my little polymesh girlfriend.

  • this is the best face rig i have seen on net so far......i really luv it....can you please bring up a tutorial on how you made the rig...i dont mean a full tutorial...but just the basics...would be grateful...awesome work

  • can you explain what exactly is a "fix blend shape"? how do you do that? I totally have no idea what a "fix blend shape" is, google result not available. But I know it's something to fix the "shit" happened when some blend shapes activated with other blend shapes. thanks for your time..

  • @eric86wong Yep, so... when you activate a blendshape "A" and a blenshape "B" in the same time, it could have some vertex collisions (ugly looking shapes). a "Fix blendshape" will be a special blendshape which will correct this collision beetween "A" and "B". It will be activated only when "A" and "B" are activated in the same time.

You'll need to create a "fix blendshape" for all the collisions

  • @eric86wong

Hey Crayfish86 correct me if I am wrong; in the way that you're are making these "fix blendshapes" are you using shape driven keys (sdk's) to do so? Or would you say your advice is leaning more toward "inbetweens". Eric86wong, I too have searched the net and I have come up with SDK's but that may not be the only suggestion that is out there. I am using a system that uses sliders (DPK). Hope this discussions sparks ideas or gives you some sort of direction.

  • Wow! Great rig! Is there anyway to get a hold of that rig? I would LOVE the chance to animate it!

  • @west26cali Sorry... this is copyright rig :(

  • @crayfish86 No worries. Its a great rig. Looks great and its controls look like it would be really easy to animate. Great stuff!

  • Crayfish, first off, you're the man! Question, are your corrective shapes based off of separate blend shapes of the head for the expression (if so, how) or are your corrective shapes based off of bone rotation for minor skin deformation tweaks? Can you have corrective shapes (connected with blend shapes) after duplicating the head for blend shapes? Hope that wasn't too confusing...

  • @cpsstudios Each blend shape is a separate head. Same for the corrective blend shapes. Each time you need to correct a vertex collision between 2 blend shapes, you will need to duplicate a new head to create your corrective blend shape.

  • @crayfish86

Thanks for taking the time to just respond! I really appreciate that. Just to clarify, how to you make a corrective head from a duplicate used for blendshapes. I'm confused on that one. Also can you use zbrush to create blendshapes and bring 'em into maya?

Once again, thanks and you're the man!

  • @crayfish86 how many blend shapes man ? also are you driving the jaw with a bone? or with shapes, or with shapes derived from bone deformations lol ^^

  • amazing facial rig O_O. Just wondering, when you create blendshapes, are u creating a blendshape of the whole model (body+head) or do you have the head as a separate piece of geometry?

  • @identikal Only a separate head ;)

  • you are amazing

  • 198 blendshapes!? wow,,, looks awesome too.

  • Respect :D Si je pourrais faire comme toi

  • That was just fantastic...one of the best I've seen.

  • beautiful :)

  • omg... i want that tool you are changing your model with not some knock off, can you give us a dl link to the program you are using yourself?

  • Well... there is no magic tool.

  • may i ask, for blendhape mirror have you used and script? I have problem blendshape mirror...your rig awsome

  • You can use a script called : abSymMesh

  • Awesome rig!! How many blend shapes did you use?

  • Around 200 shapes, including fix shapes.

  • is it possible to get this rid or a similer rig like this?

  • HOLY CRAP! AWESOME

  • wow well done!

  • great.....

  • SICK

  • I Loved It. Especially the mouth area.

  • great!!

can i do this to meshs i imported from using Zbrush ?

  • Yes. ZBrush also has a plugin called ZMapper that you can use with Morph shapes inside ZBrush to generate all of the different blend shapes before even going into maya.

  • ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

    my goooooooooddd

    please put video of making

    is amazing

  • AWESOME

  • it is the best of all i seen

  • 100% blend shapes in Maya. Some blend shapes activated with others will make some shit, you will need to make and add some "fix blend shapes".

  • Thanks a lot man never thought of adding fix blend shapes.. cool.. Thanks bud :D

  • ! more question.. Did u use Bones for your lip movements or is it 100% Blendshapes. Coz im trying to get that outcome with my facial rig. The part where u move both the lips left and right..Its combining with the mouth expressions O_o.. as if even when u frown u can still move the lips left n right. Sorry to bother u :D

  • Nice work :). Can u please tell me how u got the upper lip to work when the lower one touches it ? Set keyed manually ?

  • As you said, set keyed manually. It's just blend shapes connected, and other blend shape fixing some problem of interactions

  • do you work for pixar? because you should! o__o

  • lol! No I'm going to work for DreamWorks soon ( but not for rigging)

  • Ah cool. Just wanted to clarify :D. thanks man and good work. I thought it was a wire that controls it. O well :D

    Peace

  • awesome

  • Please if you have some tutorials could you send some to me. Thanks in advance

  • that is incredible

  • lol it makes me laugh ^^ great job:) i think you played like 1 hour whit it :P

  • awesome work! :)

    5*

  • Wow man... great!
