number one the stock engine sucked. it was ok in the 70's but we have outgrew that motor along time ago. and the 371 creats way more power on the top end than a LS1. i agree a ls1 is a awsome engine but at 13k rpm the 327 will mock a LS1
Yeah, more power through more displacement. But the L24-L28 was never, and is still not what I would call a "bad" engine. It's strong, and can run forever. I have seen 400hp with natural aspiration out of stroker kits. Is it the best when it comes to power? No. But, then again, the 327 isn't either. But, I wouldn't call it a bad engine either.
A healthy RB26DETT with stock internals, including valves and heads running around 600hp would blow that 327 away. Especially is AWD was in tact. IMHO.

Sure you can build that RB26DETT to be faster than a ordinary or modified 327 but if time comes you can always work a little more at the 327 and get it faster.

Uh, maybe because the stock engines aren't to great to begin with? And a 327 isn't exactly big either. An LS1 would be cooler though, and it wouldn't throw off the balance of the car by too much either.
Wouldn't throw the balance off at all actually, but improve it sad to say. Yeah you can shove a V8 in the car and make power. But so can any other person off the street. It's not hard to male reliable 300+ hp out of the L28 bored and stroked to a 3.1l. But, it costs more than the V8.
They are great engines. Balanced and reliable. It's just a matter of choice. I like my L26. It's different. The most powerful engine ever? No. But, whatever.
well.. with the car having a chevy 327 its pretty much amarican, what is fun is blowing the doors of these lil kids that think becouse there honda sounds like a bumble bee its ready for the drag strip. and no fram work is needed just the motor mounts need to be change. you have more than enough room in there. just be sure the unibody is in good shape if pulling alot of power.
hey man when putting a v8 in one of those things do you gotta beef up the frame or anything and what do you do about rear ends. Like change it to an american rear end. I'm thinkin bout puttin a v8 in my 71 Z but i gotta figure out what all i gotta do or get first!

im planning to build one of these, im gonna run either a VQ35DE or a SBC 350 with some forged internals
