i was wondering, i have the same power supply and i had to mount it in the bottom of my case and i cant put a fan filter down there so i have the power suplys fan on the inside of my pc, is that going to be bad for it as far as it being able to stay cool and clean ?
these is my target specs: Asus Sabertooth P67 Intel Core i5 2500K Palit GTX 550 Ti + Palit GTX 550 Ti (SLI in the future late 2012 or 2013) 2x DDR3 4gb ram (any brand) OCZ Vertex 3 60GB (OS+Apps only, 60GB is sufficient for me) WD Blue 500GB (i use NAS so 500GB is suffient for me) *Cosair HX 650* Questions: 1) Will the HX650 be able to power the 2500K if i overclock it? 2) Will the psu handle 2x GTX 550 Ti overclocked? 3) when will they stop selling GTX 550 Ti s
is it enough to run two 6870 (i know about computers but when it comes to power supplies i still need a little help) and yea i know it has 4x 6=2 pin connectors but its only a 650w power supply :)
@twomadcrafters Actually you will be able to run that setup assuming your not doing anything to extreme, it is always better to go to much then to go too little tho, an average setup with 2x 6870's pulls about 453w.
Could you tell us a little more what the differences is compared to the 620HX? U mentioned the warranty but I've heard that this newer model delivers a lot more amps on the 12V-rail. Is it a big difference as far as you know?
@simonshusse the big difference is that its on a single 12v rail. I believe the older 620hx was on three rails. If you want a nice quiet psu with the highest efficiency for a 650 watt, you should consider getting the seasonic x650.
@CknSalad Ok, thx for your reply. As it was I had both the HX650 and the HX620 and I had to make a decision regarding which psu to use in my gaming rig and which to use in my HTPC. I used the newer model in my gaming rig.
@DigitalHailStorm No, they just like unboxing stuff that came through the mail order or from store, because they feel deep inside their brains that this stuff is a gift from god.
Im thinking about getting the 750 watt version of this, will be running 2 GTX 560 TI in SLI and im probably gonna install 4-6 fans. Will the 750 w version run my system?
@JustD3fy for the hx650 you wouldn't want to overclock but there's still plenty of headroom and little overclocking room, the system will probably run at 580w at full load at stock on a high end system (you won't use full load unless you're using furmark). if you want to overclock, go with a 750 or 850.
@JustD3fy just so you know, I'll be running 6950s in crossfire soon with this PSU, my specs are in my video description if you would like to see but it gives you a rough idea of running what PSU would be needed for 560ti's in SLI. I won't be overclocking though, I'd rather just get a single card and OC that instead of OCing two cards in crossfire/sli.
@th4970 Cool thanks man cause I'm also getting a Storm Enforcer case next month since my little brother needs my cosmos 1000 for his 2 gtx 260s since he finally got his 2nd one from a friend of his. :)

but could I run into any problems? I was planning down the road to beef up my computer so I wanted the extra power, but could that be a bad thing? I don't wanna be the guy who wasted $100+ on something I might of over looked some technical details. Shit- I'm gonna be paranoid now.
Ah, I just purchased this particular model and... this is kind of embarrassing... this is my first PSU purchase. I went with this model on a number of factors, the price was the cheapest (weird I know, could only find this model at Amazon, free shipping, 17 or so % off), this so far seems to be the no. 1 name brand PSU- or at least a really high quality brand for it's price- whatever. etc. But, my computer itself isn't that demanding- only a 9800 GTX+ an Athon 215 x2. @maphantom Check out the cables that Corsair includes with that particular model (should be easy to find on their website). And, after my understanding, no PCI Express cables and the 8/4-pins for the motherboard are not the same, and should not be mixed.
I have one of these. I only have 3 problem with the PSU. 1.) The capacitors inside are not seated properly and look really dodgey (think it was repaired and shipped as new or something) and 2.) Screws don't fit in very well 3.) I am missing that shiny silver sticker.
i have a question for you Linus, do you know how big approximately is the box. Like i mean a approximate measurement will do. Because i live in New Zealand and the computer company provided me a discount but they said the psu must be pre-installed in the case then i was thinking that they could put the box inside the Lancool k62b. The main reason they are doing this is to cut down shipping cost.

just installed one today one thing i didnt like is the eps12v connector is 2x4pin who in the hell would needs a 4pin mobo connector these days that would need such a powerfull psu
Own MY GOD! I have THe same Old shitty Psu that u sowed at 3:50 LOL! THATS A PIECE OF JUNK SHIT! Iam going to order the same one as in the vid looks cool! Hey How many is 78 Watts in The A thing>? Cause iam freaking always Get mixed up lol.
well i had just bought this PSU, its a great modular PSU so far in my rig, about the fan i dont know if its quit or not, cos in my rig i just hear my bloody noisy VGA, im using this with my q6600 @3.0Ghz, very recommend PSU
I'm planning on buying a ASUS CROSSHAIR FORMULA II mobo, an XFX HD RADEON 5850 and a AMD PHENON II X4 955 processor, and CORSAIR XMS3 DHX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3. Should I get an hx750w or hx650w psu?
This video was great! but I have a question plz respond! I'm getting a HAF 932, gonna be running ten 120mm fans & one 140mm plus an overclocked CPU & soon after HD5850. I believe this is a tier 2 PSU would this be enough? oh the fans are all white LED fans?
Yeah, fans don't use much power at all, and this can handle x2 5850's if you really wanted to (ATi recommends 600W with 40 Amps on the 12v rail(s). If you do that though, it'd be safe to go with the 750w, the one just higher up from this.
Ether way, for your needs, plenty of power. Make sure to have a good heatsink if you're running air-cooling on your CPU.
It will depend on how many fan connectors you got on your motherboard (high end ones have up to 8, but most only have 4). I didn't hear in the review above how many 3/4 pin fan connectors this had, but you can always just pick a molex to 3/4 pin converter from computer stores for 1 buck or 2.
OCZ Fatal1ty 550w Power supply unboxing please, AND DON'T TELL ME TO WATCH OTHER PEOPLES VIDEOS @ UNBOXING, BECAUSE YOU ARE THE BEST UNBOXER OF ALL TIME.!
Ok.
If you don't do the vid I'll Kill you. lol joking, great unboxing videos.
I've made 3 builds all with the older brother "HX 620w". No problems in the last 2-3 years.
I wanted some extra PCIe cables for my xFire system and emailed them the other year and they sent me 2x (dual 6-pin) pcie cables free of charge. Top notch customer service. And now they're offering 7 year warranty you say? Brilliant.
@Ryd3r22 this psu will support those specs, since a 6850 only uses 1 6pin, unless u buy a asus 6850 which needs 2 6 pins. you can also run crossfirex with this psu for ur type of vid card.
With a corsair product, i wouldn't have even bothered with looking at the site. It's like they deliberately dont provide information so it's more "strange" when you unbox it :)
I love how your 0 prep unboxings are often more informative and of better quality than other youtube based reviews that have actually used the product. (minus your street fighter unboxing :P)

will it support dual crossfire 6950's?
rkkochie 9 months ago
@rkkochie they say a 2 gig 6950 will peak at a power consumption of @ 250 W
so two cards in Xfire should never get past 500 W consumption.
An intel 2600k will peak at 160-170 in full load , 150 for the 2500k..
so you get like 50 watt short of the desired delivered power ..
and actually it isn't that bad.. because you won't be able to keep all those ultra fast cards/CPU in max load..
So my oppinion is : YES , it does work with dual 6950's :)

I have to agree this PSU is excellent as any from Corsair
I have one on my pc:
Asus Striker II Extreme
Intel Core 2 Quad QX9650 3,0GHz@3,75GHz (1,4V)
4x2GB Kingston HyperX DDR3 1800Mhz@1333Mhz 7-7-7-20
MSI GTX 460 Hawk Talon Attack 925/4500
i was using Fortron Epsilon 700W before and it was not able
to supply my GPU after high overclock so my pc was rebooting
after some voltage addings because it has only 18A on 12V
so i bought this corsair and Im absolutely satisfied ;)

I'm planning on buying a ASUS CROSSHAIR FORMULA II mobo, an XFX HD RADEON 5850 and a AMD PHENON II X4 955 processor, and CORSAIR XMS3 DHX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3. Should I get an hx750w or hx650w psu?

Almost perfect power supply.
Would've loved if it came with a red color like the 620hx, so it would match maximus iii formula + g. skill trident/dominator GT RAM. lol

Even 500w is enough for a 5770 crossfire.
This is more than enough.

This video was great! but I have a question plz respond! I'm getting a HAF 932, gonna be running ten 120mm fans & one 140mm plus an overclocked CPU & soon after HD5850. I believe this is a tier 2 PSU would this be enough? oh the fans are all white LED fans?
AMDGuy64 2 years ago

Brilliant.
LeJimster 2 years ago 14
Yep. I emailed for some 6+2 cables for my early revision HX1000 (cames with 2x6pin and 2x8pin, and they sent me a bunch with no questions asked :)

@LinusTechTips will this support x4 phenom 955 overclocked 3.8gh, sappire 6850 4gb g skill 1tb hd
Ryd3r22 1 year ago
@Ryd3r22 this psu will support those specs, since a 6850 only uses 1 6pin, unless u buy a asus 6850 which needs 2 6 pins. you can also run crossfirex with this psu for ur type of vid card.

A testament to unboxing videos - showing absolutely no preparation :)
Thae annotations were great touch :P
AndyBlooman 2 years ago
what is this "prep" you speak of?
That's where you read the outside of the product box, glance at the manufacturer web site, then say "screw it" and start filming, right?
LinusTechTips 2 years ago 17
With a corsair product, i wouldn't have even bothered with looking at the site. It's like they deliberately dont provide information so it's more "strange" when you unbox it :)
AndyBlooman 2 years ago
I love how your 0 prep unboxings are often more informative and of better quality than other youtube based reviews that have actually used the product. (minus your street fighter unboxing :P)
