I'm curious as to why this has so little comments. I for one think it would be incredibly interesting if a full feature movie was made using this technology. Granted it wouldn't be practical for all movies, but it would be very cool to be able to feel completely immersed in a scene, being able to look all around a room while someone has a conversation. Maybe even spot little details in a detective movie perhaps.
The Immersive Media system is actually just over $30,000 for their high end system with 11 lenses (plus costs for a simple rack and GPS system). This system doesn't have the distortion and other issues with mirror pano systems. It's really apples and oranges. The Immersive system -- when used for location-based recording, embeds the precise lat/long location into the video, along with pitch/yaw/roll info. The pano is just 'look here' fun. Immersive also has complete software apps approach.

@gumbogumbo1 It was bound to happen sooner or later. They've changed their prices. But now the company has stopped production and sales of this unit.
