  • A good example of pure proto-prog would be the song Bombay Calling by It's A Beautiful Day from 1969.

  • This is pure progressive rock at its earliest.

  • Yeah Prog was already alive by 1970. King Crimson's first album came out in 1969, which is just as complex as anything to come after it. Proto-Prog would be The Doors, Spirit or numerous other "acid-rock" bands who came before. It's A Beautiful Day is another good example. The band United States Of America already had proggy songs in 1968 along with Giles,Giles & Fripp & The Moody Blues.

  • 2:30 sounds like the theme from the movie Conan the Barbarian...Great band great music....

  • How is this proto-prog if KC, Genesis, VdGG, Yes were already out and GG, ELP came out this same year.

I'm just saying, it seems to be prog to a large degree, but "proto prog" would have to come before, such as Procul Harum, The Moody Blues etc...

    Pretty cool stuff btw.

  • hey thx for this upload! never heard of these guys, but definitely worth listening to. 1970? thats quite astonishing, what will these guys have been listening to, to get to this music.
