  • Most epic acoustic guitar playing I've ever heard.

  • Thumbs up if imSuck's Jump Tactics Episode 2 brought you here!!

  • I don't care if it's sped up or not, it's a nifty song!

Also, stop bitching with "HURR my favourite guitarist could play it faster" - the fact is, they haven't

  • I bet Shawn Lane could have actually played all of this up to speed. Love this song though as well as Paul Gilbert.

  • @goreyheadstump and i bet Jason Becker could have played it faster LOL

  • I saw a video where he said he sped up the acoustic parts. Needless to say I don't believe him.

  • HAHA. You can clearly hear the cheerleaders from Intense rock 2 in the voices part...

    PENTATONIC LICKS! *clap clap*

  • @TheWaffleization man well done for noticing that!

  • Paul punk'd everybody with his song, including the guys at the label LOL

  • It's sped-up, he said it in a workshop

  • the solo is sped up, when he recorded it he had the reel moving slowly and then put it to normal speed

  • Haha the kool acoustic solos ARE sped up, paul says so himself at a clinic in '95

  • he says this song is a joke and he speed up the acoustic parts, the eletric is in real time though

  • This is his tribute to Vai !.....one of his idols.

  • @YnoT0207

paul gilbert is way way way way way way way....(cant keep writing way cuz it would take my whole life) better than Vai

and the PG is one of the coolest guys ever

  • @produccionesmiranejo ....and the color blue is way, way, way better than the color red!

  • @YnoT0207

    ok???

  • @produccionesmiranejo See how logical that way of thinking is!?!

  • The fast acoustic bit in the middle is sped up. He admitted it on a clinic he did. There's even a video on youtube of him admitting it.

  • Actually, he sped up those acoustic rifs...that's okay, though. He's still a phenomenal musician.

Check out the Paul Gilbert: I Understand Completely, NY clinic, '95 video. He explains. He was feeling cynical that day.

  • Can someone message me a link to where i can i download this song? I cant seem to find it anywhere.

  • He did it as a joke because it had vocals at first, but they told him to make it instrumental, so he sped it up to parody fast guitar instrumental songs.

  • this isn't speed up, he just says that so we don't flip out because no human can play that fast and paul simply isn't human in fact if anything its slowed down

  • @acdcislaw I was gonna write out this really big paragraph explaining that this song is infact sped up and he says so in an interview, untill I completely read your comment. But now that I have read it I UNDERSTAND COMPLETELY

  • .....does paul look kinda like a rapest in that pic?

  • only the end part of the song were speed up...not the acoustic parts as far as I know...

    =)

  • the acoustic part is speed up paul splain it in a vid :P

  • damn, that annoying prankster guitar god! =D

  • This is so killer!

  • Would be nice to play the outra at that speed. You'd probably take off from the ground.

  • This sounds like Paul doing a Steve Vai parody... and sounds awesome

  • Paul said that when he wrote this he was parodying guitar instrumentals in general because they tended to be a pretty serious affair... hence the funny acoustic licks and the random revolution no.9 section in the middle. you can hear the whalesong...

  • It sounds like Steve Vai's "Viv Woman" to me. Check it out!

  • Haha thanks man I'll check it out. The 2nd half sounds a lot like Love Secrets to me as well.

  • LOL! I completely agree, especially on the inversed tape part

  • Was this recorded in a home studio?

  • i jus bought guitars that rule the world from amazon woop

  • I used to have the tape that this is from , it was called - Guitars That Rule The World.

This was the best and most inspiring track for me by a long stretch. And he had some serious competition.

All recorded and produced in his home studio was the clincher for me!!

I love the ac/gat no matter how he did it - it`s GOLD!!

  • It's sped up picking. It's an acoustic guitar, you'd here the drill if he was using that.

I love Paul's sense of humor...there's just something about this song that makes you want to laugh.

  • He played it with a pick, he said he was trying to play as fast as he possibly could because he was trying to make a parody of an instrumental song (the song had singing on it, but the guys who made the album refused to take it since it was supposed to be an instrumental).

If you're wondering how do I know that - he said it on one of his clinics.

  • I'd guess drill pick...the only thing I know for sure(or read in a magazine, years ago) is that the weird voices are sped up pieces of audio from his answering machine. Thanks for listenin'!

  • I think the idea was to speed up & slow down parts for fun (if I understand completely) - the acoustic runs are just sped up (probably only slightly knowing PG) judging from the way the final notes of each run seem to be articulated a bit. Still my fav PG rarity though - thanks for posting!

  • alternately he had a double neck with one of them being acoustic and having one string, then he picked it super fast

  • He just put the tape at a faster speed...he told that him self in an interview long time ago to make a joke to fast guitar players.

  • @crashiooi no drill picking and he didn't speed it up, I'm 99% sure because I used to be able to play the acoustic fast parts just as fast so I'm pretty sure he didn't speed it up until the very last part when you can tell he did with those insane arpeggios. I think it sounds faster and impossible because of the tempo and style of the song and then that kicks in and catches you off guard. This is one of the best songs ever!!!

  • @CaukyAsian

noob he did a clinic where he says its sped up

  • @ibanezxiphos700 douche yeah I saw that finally. But regardless i could play it at the same speed. douche.

  • @CaukyAsian

    good story bro...

  • @ibanezxiphos700 no no, true story. And do you have a broner for me? Quit callin me bro.

  • @CaukyAsian

    good story bro...

  • @8triagrammer The ultra fast acoustic is a hilarious story. He got mad at the producers of the CD because of some legal garbage about singing and instrumental records. So he put the recording tape as slow as possible, played as fast as he could...then re-recorded the track in fast forward...that making the song "infinitely" fast. I heard that from PG himself. Apparently theres a fast electric guitar at the end that is not sped up...but is still wildly fast

  • @8triagrammer He did speed it up, but he did it to get back at the ppl that wanted him to record the song. It originally had vocals on it, and they rejected it because they wanted a purely instrumental album. So he intentionally sped those parts up to "poke fun" at the fact that they wanted purely fast, instrumental guitar.

He talks about it in a video from a clinic in '95 in NY. Look it up, it's on youtube now.

  • @JSGayMusic Oh man I never knew that, I thought he only sped up the end. Damn i used to play along with that song all the time!!

  • @8triagrammer Actually Paul Gilbert did speed it up, he said that in one of his clinics

  • @8triagrammer In another video, Gilbert admits that is is in fact sped up

  • @8triagrammer he did, he says so in a clinic

  • @8triagrammer he explains in a video that the acoustic solos are sped up and why. Just search "Paul Gilbert I Understand Completely NY Clinic"

  • Comment removed

  • @8triagrammer it is sped up he wanted to parody himself with this song =]

  • @8triagrammer He said in a clinic once that the ultra fast acoustic parts are in fact sped up. :)

  • @8triagrammer He artificially sped it up after it was recorded. He explains it on another video

  • @8triagrammer i read somewhere that he just sped up the audio for the shred parts just kind of to make fun of himself as well as other shredders

  • @8triagrammer It's actually sped up. There should be a clip in the right hand bar where Paul talks about it. :)

  • Cool!

One of my all-time Gilberto-Favourites. Astonishingly creative and amazing guitar skills.

  • Definately! Thanks for watchin'!

  • may have wanted the Title not to be white so it didn't get a bit cut out from his clothing :P This should have more views this song is awesome.

  • Sorry cody, I'm new...probably shoulda' done it in red? I didn't wanna' put too much into it 'cause you never know what's gonna' get pulled off here?

  • @crashiooi Or you could just put a shade around the text so our eyes can realize the transit between his clothing and the actual text.
