I have heard some discussion on it, but the mods would be extreme and time consuming. I have a 2ZZ-GE in mine and I dino around 315. I beefed up the oil pump and added cold air and TRD exhaust for better breathing. Oh, we also updated the ECM due to a misfire in the 1ZZ, but we reflashed it for the 2ZZ when we did the swap.
Yes, you can reflash a 2ZZ-GE ecu. Ask Toyota. There no problem with hp on the Mr-S. You can grap 315 easy if you know what you are doing. Yakboy you are full of shit.
Could, but it isn't worth the hassle. Celica GTS' 2ZZGE swaps in and you can always boost that. It's hard to explain this to you without you having driven one but...a 2ZZ MR-S is already VERY fast.
Ive owned an S2000 and currently own an 01 Spyder and even though its not as fast as the Honda Its 10x as fun. Greatest car for the money ever! I paid $8,000 for it and for about $5,000 more I can have a car that can whoop Lambos.
whooping is one thing, but a lambo's a lambo. $5000 will never buy you the adoration of millions of car enthusiasts or the prestige of a vehicle like that :)
And u think I care what others think? I just wanna have fun. And for 1/10th the cost of a lambo, I'm able to. If I could afford a lambo I'd buy one but not for adoration. Im not materialistic and shallow.
I agree 100 percent, I have a MK2NA myself and while it isn't as fast as some of the new sedans, I have found nothing that is as fun to drive, reliable, durable, or cheap to buy as that car. I have driven M3s, M5s, Cooper Ss, and been in many other serious sports cars i.e 911s, Vipers etc, but even if I had the money I would still settle for my MR2, I would just do a little work to mine. Rock on man!
Adoration and prestige? Ha! I'm a school teacher. Everyone hates me. No adoration or prestige here. I drive the car because I love it, easy to work on and trick out, and it is fun. One of the best cars ever made by Toyota and hands down the best mid engine for the price.
I actually replied to a statement which has apparently been deleted which implied that this car had been purpose built to impress people. I was making use of sarcasm in my reply.
It's a drivers car in every way. Respect for owning one (and having the perseverance to teach).

geeez, i couldve gotten an mrs yesterday. But i didnt choose cause it was a 2 seater and i thought it was more of a girls car (which i still do think it is). But oh well w/e.
you should have driven it properly before making a decision.
a girl's car it IS NOT! EVO magazine called it "one of the purest driving experiences available" and I agree completely. the handling is so sharp, accurate... really really fantastic.
lol he was going sideways and drifting throughout the circuit man! i dont think time really matters when you are having as much fun as clearly the driver is.
it doesnt look like the driver wasnt trying to clock a fast lap time, he was sliding all over the place. Also doesn't mention if he was running street tires or R-comps.
what front bumper is this?

BS. Noone can reflash 2zz ecus and a 2zz with an exhaust pulls maybe 195 crank hp. Your story doesn't add up.

The 2zz's from toyota are not reflashable. A piggy back or standalone (normally PFC is preferred) are required.

Yes... Adoration, prestige. That is clearly the reason behind the concept of the MR2.
Who needs reason anyway? Logic is a relic of the past, right...

all very true, but its not very pretty is it? just my opinion though!

"good looks" are nearly completely subject to personal opinion - so it's pointless arguing about it.
