  • How did the parachute not rip to shreds when he opened it at the speed he was going?

  • @pescando once he fell for a while he opened up a small drag chute to keeep him stable then once he reached the lower denser atmoshere he slowed down enough to open the main chute at 18 thousand feet

  • titanium gonads required

  • which one of you bastards wants to sparta kick me from this high up?? :]

  • who do i have to pay to do this? cause its def on my bucket list now...

  • That's so scary.. Falling into Earth :l

  • Is this one of the ways that NASA fakes their space walks?

  • @FirstClassSkeptic as always, the required dumbass that thinks absolutely everything is fake. (Florida, JFK lauch pad. Go there, watch shuttle take off.)

  • i would do this if someone pushed me... WHO WANTS TO PUSH ME!!! first gets to pull the trigger on the death star.

  • i wish i could get that high.

  • Comment removed

  • Did that guy flip him off at the end??

  • If I'm not mistaken, Kittinger was later shot down over North Vietnam and spent time in a POW camp. The word tough doesn't quite do justice to this guy.

  • I'd do this for 20 bucks....If I got the free equipment and training and stuff.

Give me a wing suit, and I'd do it. I could probably fly around the world at that height if only there was any air at that altitude -_-

  • i could do this no problem... not really

  • "all right yuri its getting boring here, im gonna jump c ya"

  • 3:30....did that guy with the orange cap just flip him the bird????

  • @ermayo93 I think he was basically just saying "I'm so jealous. You just got to do one of the coolest things a human has ever done. Screw you man." In a joking way though.

  • @ermayo93 That must have been part of some kind of studly "just jumped from 102,000 feet" banter.

  • I wonder if he was worried about hitting the helicopter on the way down.

    I would be.

  • Where do I sign up for this ride?!

  • master chief, anyone?

  • Forget sky diving. I wanna do this!

  • HEROE O LOCO... WOOW...

  • he was going the speed of sound until he got to thicker air, amazing.. i doubt many ppl can survive that

  • Kids don't try this at home this man has the hardest ballz on the face of the earth he is a Machine !!!! i wonder how he felt :O i wanna try this

  • wow,

such an awsome feat put to sucide cords....I don't get it.

  • totally agree with ya ! i mean.. this is what makes u feel alive !

  • im afraid of heights, but id kill to do this

  • It's easy to fall that fast when your balls are that big

  • I enjoyed the video and msuic

  • lol omg sick.

  • I wonder if Joe got "Jet-Lag"??... I like the way his bud cheered him up at the end, by flipping him the 'bird', (pun intended). Nice montage Javier.

  • great video!

  • beautiful view! must b fun

  • good music!

  • AMAZING!!!! I would do anything to experience this.....

  • @Gnomestaz :-)

  • :-)

  • Great video. The music works, too :)

    Thanks for posting.

  • Sick ass song!!!

  • nice video, too bad about the soundtrack..

  • That is one hardcore badass for sure to do that jump. Wow.

  • @splicernyc You aint kidding! He was-maybe still is-doing STUNT FLYING at least until 1999 (he was interviewed on the BBC's Planets programme when he must have been 70) He said his glove sprung a leak about 60,000 feet up that made the blood pool in his hand but he said nothing as he didn't want to be ordered to abort the jump! Me, I get vertigo just looking at this!

  • @KeithUnderneath

LOOOLL! Made my day! creasee :DD

  • I surprised they didn't have an extra balloon to lift his massive balls off the ground

  • wonder how high the balloon could of gone?

  • @treborly

The record altitude for an unmanned balloon is 173,000 feet.

  • Ha ha ha dude flipped him off at 3:31.

  • where have all the men in the world putting there bodies on the line like this gone?

this guy is a definite relative of chuck norris.

  • This dude was high.

  • ATARI AGE TO THE MAXXX!!! THE SUPER BREAKOUT MAN -- YARS' REVENGER!!!!!

  • One small step for mankind, one giant leap for me! lol

  • BALLS OF STEEL

  • LOL @ 3:30 the assistant gives him the double bird. What's that about??? "F%$# you buddy! That shoulda been me!!"??

  • The man was a dupe. He was told to go up to 200,000 feet and then jump as a psycological test. That's why the guy on the ground slaps him and gives him the finger, for pussying out of his suicide mission.

  • @inmate1943 200,000 would be in space the whole excelsior project was to test if pilots could survive falling from spy planes

  • His parachute has the "Umbrella" Corporation symbol, lol :D

  • the songs fucking great anyway you shit head

  • "Throw your dreams into space like a kite, and you do not know what it will bring back, a new life, a new friend, a new love, a new country." - Anaïs Nin

  • I would crap my pants 10 times before hitting the ground.

  • Omg this scared me hes sooo high what if he landed in like africa or somthing

  • @theonlysteamygirl

There is no way that could happen. He was only 19 miles up.

  • @norman4lyf only......

  • @knoble430

    Yes, only.

  • this man has balls made of neutron stars.

  • Haha

  • Pause it at the end that guy in the orange hat flips him off hahahahahahahahahahaha

  • He was in space if he didn't have the pressure suit on he would of died check put the interview with him it's very interesting, this would be a horrible way to die you would probably change your mind after 30 seconds

  • ho. ly.. fuck. i want that. can you imagine the conversation with the wife? "what did you do at work today honey?" "oh nothing, just set the all time record for highest skydive ever. just another day at the office, that's all."

    jesus.

  • HE´S ALMOST IN SPACE!

  • if i would kill my self, i want it to be like that..falling from such an altitude..that would be the greatest suicide in the world..

  • Mmmmmm... Damn, homie! A bit grim are we? I think I'd rather live to talk about it rather than having shards of bone, blood, piss, shit, and hair smushed on the side of a mountain at a crazy intense speed be my lasting legacy. It's kicks like this that make life worth living, yo... I'm also pretty positive we'd all change our minds before hitting the ground. Can I get an 'amen?' Ha. -j

  • u r right dude..there will be a time to make a decision :)

  • @javi806 Amen

  • @javi806 he dint die

  • @javi806 amen!

  • @javi806 AMEN!

  • @javi806 I agree, a suicide jump from that height leaves you plenty of time to change your mind!

  • @javi806 and what if I jump and survive to tell it first and then I kill myself? :D

  • @DirtyThing20 no. greatest suicide would be to go on a roof, rap cheese wire around the chimney, tie the other end around your neck, than use industrial glue to glue your hands to your head so when you jumped off and were decapitated, it would look like you ripped your own head off. but yeah...don't kill yourself. its dumb.

  • @bloodanddirt horrible dude...i am not gonna kill myself yet.. :D ..but i just did think of the suicide, i mean, what suicide is better..and this one is perfect..

  • @DirtyThing20 lol dude. no, this would be a cool way...def.

  • @bloodanddirt im guna try that

  • Why be so hang up on dying?

THE AMAZING thing is not that the astronaut died from jumping so high up above earth, but because HE LIVED. Now, if you can jump from a hight much higher than his and live then they will most certainly put a video of you with a cool progressive music track. If you died. . .well . . then you'd just be a large stain spread over a few rocks.

  • @DirtyThing20 its kinda emo you know? "if i would kill myself" bla bla bla.

  • @filipegaie It`s kinda "you are retard", `cause emo isn`t ideology...Forget this word "EMO" ..

  • @DirtyThing20 i bet it wont be... you would have more than 10 minutes to think about how stupid it is :D but you cant decide again :D

  • @DirtyThing20 Maybe, but it doesn't matter if you jumped from 100,000 feet or 2,000 feet... you would still hit the ground at the same speed (terminal velocity).

  • @ptschafer lol, not the same speed.

  • @DirtyThing20 LOL yes, the same speed. The closer you get to the ground, the slower you fall.

  • @ptschafer lol, ur typical american retard, learn physics...

  • @DirtyThing20 that is physics, the force of wind resistance is equal to the pull off gravity at terminal velocity. ptschafer is right when he says you'd hit the ground at the same speed. you only need enough time to hit terminal velocity. roughly 2000ft, after that acceleration stops.

  • @Threebeansalad well, remember what u said "The closer you get to the ground, the slower you fall." - so if i jump from a plane and in 1 sec i get closer to the earth and my speed starting slowing down from the moment i jumped, read what u write, i know what ur trying to say, but u should learn to speak correctly..and don`t reply to me, not interesting...

  • @DirtyThing20 umm i never said you slow down as you get closer to the ground.... though given enough height its true, air density increases, so does drag. though you dont continue to slow down per say

  • @DirtyThing20 youd get four minutes to realize you're dying and wish you could stop it

  • @DirtyThing20 with all the excitement of falling you would suddenly realize you have something to live for, and you will still have plenty of time to think 'too late now"

  • @avian5 yeah, i know what u mean..

  • @DirtyThing20

Actually, I completely agree. I've thought the same thing myself. I love to skydive. I think when my time comes, I just want to jump out and not pull my 'chute. It would just be adrenaline, and then nothing.

  • @DirtyThing20 What a thing to say about one of the greatest astronomical and atmospheric accomplishments in human history. I'm somewhat disgusted to have seen this on this footage.

  • @PrincessCarltheI why?....

  • imagine being that high up, not a sound you can hear, all alone, peace, most amazing views ever...must have been awesome

  • theres a guy in the uk who mite do this

  • This guy has balls of STEELE! They just dont make men like this anymore.

  • @PetShopMod

    STEEL*

  • You get the picture :P

  • 3:30 .....0__0

    x)

    kittinger,

    great man!

  • Damn aprox. 621 miles an hour.

  • hes my hero...you know the balls it would take to do this??

  • haha guy stuck his middle finger up at 2:31..

  • anyone else notice the parachute falling apart at around 3:22 ?

  • its a specially designed parachute that transforms

  • yes the moon via ARCA is next!

  • shit that looks scary love to do that looks awsome

  • dream harder and dream faster you cant stop all you can do is push harder and fly faster.

  • Fuck... and i thougt that i was jumping high with only 10.000 feet... i gotta try this someday...

  • No. He is not moving fast enough to encounter atmospheric friction which would cause the burn up people occasionally hear about.

  • Only opon rentry from outter space does anything burn, The Atmosphere is the first layer, He was below that in between the Mesosphere and Stratosphere.

  • He fall at speed about a 990 Km/h. If you want to burn something in the earth atmosphere, you need to fly moore, moore faster. It`s starts at about a 2000 Km/h. At that speed you take temperature appr. a 120 to 200 degr. C. It is even still not a burn. But when you got a speed like Space Shattle - about 15000 Km/h,you will feel 1600-2000 degr. C.

  • no IRON BALLS MAN IRON BALLS!\

  • how the hell could he breathe was he wearing something?

  • he was wearing a spacesuit of some kind

  • EPIC MUSIC EPIC JUMP!!!!

  • why is the music so loud?

  • mad bawls, respect for that man and of course pelican too

  • Blah... I don't give a fuck if you like the music or not. Mute it. Piss off. -j

  • Perfect music, who doesnt like it?

  • @javi806

your pretty cool javi, thanks for the video

  • nob

  • He is a sick man indeed. Much respect to Joe!

  • i want a go

  • BALLS man!!! just Balls!!

  • no matter how high u get ,you'll never b as High as this man,,,what a man J.K!

  • He's so high, the clouds look like sand!

  • this is the best thing I have ever seen!

  • Shit...awesome.....

  • would of sucked if he fell onto the wrong location haha

  • he did just that in 1972...was shot down over north vietnam, spent 11months in the hilton as a pow.that was his third tour aswell, legend!!

  • Utter rubbish.

He did this jump in 1960 for a start...

  • ok...so u know fuck all bout bout his life then!

  • Dude... Watching how high up that was, it almost made me throw up. Thats the bravest thing Ive seen anyone do.

  • we are working on a balloon that can reach the moon with helium jets and a steering system..our public guy would spend some time on the Lunar surface but this would keep NASA out of it..

  • LOL that guy gave him the finger at the end...

you jumpped from over 100K... FUCK YOU?!?!?!

  • svaka cast,ovo je neverovatno

  • i was at the smithsonian air and space museum last weekend in washington dc and they have a section about kittinger and his jump they also have the actual suit he wore . about time he got recognition for what he did. this guy is fearless kudo's to kittinger

  • Everest seems small!

  • SUPERMAN!!!

  • i am on the moon now! and iam on my laptop lol now im gonna jump from the moon to earth! ahhhhhh!!! lol just kidding

  • You can not get more extreme than this. or can you??

Anyway he is really brave to have done it.

  • WOW SCARY!

  • BALLS BIGGER THAN THE EARTH!!!!

  • haha

  • who sponsored him? redbull? XD

  • Redbull didn't exist..

  • He probably got the sensation of falling around 60k ft when the atmosphere starts to become more dense

  • Talk about extreme skydiving...going from 14,000 feet is weak...how about 102!

  • awsome song awsome concept

  • that was amazing

  • the view from up there had to be surreal

joe kittinger is fearless in my book that took some serious nads to jump from that high. his records still stand today

    kudos to joe

  • Once he was up there I don't think he had a choice lol, it was run out of oxygen at the edge of outer space or jump from a platform at 100 000 feet

  • ok let me rephrase that it took nads to even got on that gondola knowing that he was going to jump to get back to earth

  • does anyone here like 2pac?

    LOL what!! X.x TY

  • look 55-56 sec do you see

  • I dream of someday trying to top that feat by sky-diving from an even higher altitude {it's only a fantasy} But what a hell of a rush that must have been! He actually got up to speeds of over 600 miles per hour! {Due to the very thin atmosphere at that height} That man was as close to being Superman as any one has! Can you imagine being high enough to see the blackness of space and the curvature of the Earth, then jumping for several minutes in free fall? He got close to supersonic{720 MPH} Wow!

  • Technically, until he got around 15,000-20,000 feet (I could be wrong on those numbers) he felt no sensation of falling.

He said the only reason he knew he was falling was because his balloon kept getting smaller and smaller.

But, I agree, it would be fantastic. =]

  • OMg

    LOL

u 2 ridiculous people below me

    stop with the arguing

this jump was an amazing accomplishment

go to some politic/history/ranting blog...or something

  • Check your history books, the British Empire was the one where the "sun never set". Your country was the trend setter as far as domination of the world. We are that way because our people came from you. Brits are typically jealous because we have the resources that you once had and can acutally do what you want to do.

  • If my Grandparents hadn't stepped in, you Brits would have all been speaking German right now. Yes, our leaders are lame, but our country and its people are not hopefully we can agree on that.

  • Well we can also hope to agree that it was not just the Americans that "saved the day."

  • I was using what is called an analogy. It was my attempt at dumbing it down so you could understand my point. You are lucky America is around to protect your sorry ass.

  • He jumped out of that balloon with a pair of goggles and gym shorts. Let's see your Brit hero do that. Joe had some big hairy balls to do this jump.

  • yea he might break it but he'll prob be using today's high tech stuff, if he used the same gear that joe kittinger used back 50 years ago then will he truly break joe's record

  • HOLY SHIT !

    that amazing

  • holy shit, this guys a legend.

  • Why does that guy in the hat flip him off at 3:30, Either he was joking at how impressive that was... or he was jealous lol.

  • "The one-finger salute was for all the people who said we couldn't do it. There are always going to be people around telling you you can't do stuff. Just give them that one-finger salute and keep going." Col. Joe Kittinger

  • This guy is a freak'in stud/American hero! That was "EXTREME PARACHUTING".

  • NUHUH HE FELL FOR 15 MINUTES STUPID
