Do you mean physical risk or what. I feel much more comfortable going by atheist here on Youtube than probably most places. I really don't like the idea of being labled an atheist because i don't like being defined by what I am not,although admittedly those that I would most closely identify with, fall in that group. I think ultimately developing the technology to control our environment and choose our own climate will. Or more accurately it will start us down that right path.

In Asimov story, Robots and Empire, spacer try to set off an radiation intensifier to kill everyone on earth. The plot is foiled by robots who let it be activated such that it will take 150 years for the earth turn toxic, forcing all humans to move in to space. Global warming could play a similar role, by forcing us to take that next big step. My only real fear is that we get fixated on conservation and never challenge ourselves to live by our control of our environment.

Very cool video. The only thing I have a slight problem with- homo habilis, homo erectus etc. almost certainly had black skin, similar to modern sub-saharan Africans.

Actually the very different represntation of the differeent early humans is an artifact from using different series in my video. The skin color and amount of hair are really more just guesses byt the video creators. Wonder what color chipanzee skin is?

I think that's what bugs me about this. I suspect the depiction of relatively hairless light-skinned early humans living in the heat of the African savannah was a willful misrepresentation, done purposefully to avoid appearing "racist." If this is the case it would be wrongheaded and stupid, and smacks of religious dogmatism.

but they all didn't just live in northern africa. Homo erectis lived all over Europe, Asia and even indonesa. Much like humans they probably would have adapting to the different environments. And in the film makers defence, we really don't know what most of tehm really looked like and it was probably the makeup and costum personel responcible for making them look like some drawing or notional image of some early humans.

Of course, and it's there that they would have developed traits selected for in colder, relatively less sunny climates (eg lighter skin.) Perhaps I'm making a big deal about nothing; I just think it's important not to gloss over the fact that we all share African roots, and almost certainly Black African roots.

Although we associate black humans with representing our root back to africa, our roots are really not human at all. Moreover, we don't have a really good understanding of what they looked like. As the recently discovered "mummified" Hadrosaur shows our reconstruction of the past based on the fossile evidence still leaves much to be desired.

Actully Australopithecus walked up right and they even have foot print of it, although it still had essentialy an apes brain. Homo Habilis started trend for bigger brains and the first tools & more human proportioned limbs. Erectus maded primitive huts, fire and better tools. They are not really sure when Clothing started. I think they only evidence of sapeins and neanderthals having clothing but erectis traveled all over & probaly would have need clothing to do it.

AMazing video...but i dont think it is fully accurate...i dont think pre-homo erectus we could walk upright...let me know if i am wrong...but i do remember that walking upright was what seperated the different specifies of man.

Actually walking upright was the first human like behavior to evolve. Australopithecus afarensis did walk upright. We know that by afarensis pelvis and how the head is mounted on the spine.
