I was 10 years old when this came out and I still love it 30 years later !!! I have it on vinyl, on cassette and on CD !!!And of course on my computer and my Ipod !!! She 's got an awesome voice !
I bought the LP when it was released, but brokeit while too drunk to actually play it at the stereo whenat a party a cpl of days later...Oh those was the days LOL
I was 15 when this was out too and I was in her fan club. It is about a condition called titinus where the sufferer hears sounds in their head like the sound of water on glass.
shane this is a lot older record than they sing on x factor these days remember this was in the charts when lobo was having hits and the specials with ghost town when tony blackburn was doing the charts...lol
Big fan of this lovely lady. This is my favorite KW tune. The synth is haunting, brooding, almost lonely. Great vocals from an 80's artist very much under appreciated.
She would have been at No.13 in the charts that week - maybe the TOTP performance helped her climb to No.11 the following week, which was the peak position for this excellent song.
Number One at the time? Shakin' Stevens!! [Green Door]
Apologies for the double reply...could this have actually been 6 August 81? The reason I ask is that the record climbed from 35 to 17 that week - an 18 place gain - and it was unwritten TOTP policy to try and book the highest climber to appear on the show each week...
gahctep - Yes - it's true. This song is about Tinnitus. Marty Wilde, who wrote the song, had said so in an interview way back when this song was released
:o)# Water on glaaas running down again! Water on glaaas! That sound! Water on glaaas running down again! Help me! The sound of running water going down!
Thank you for posting. Great song, with great music.
According to her Dad who wrote it, it's about 'Tinnitnus' - a medical condition where people have a constant ringing in their ears. Typical weird subject her dad and brother used to write about in the early days! Before I found that out, I just thought it was about being stuck indoors when it's raining....!
Yes. The first time I read the lyrics I thought it was about ears ringing. I wasn't 100% sure but I thought it was indeed about that. You have confirmed it. I'm a musician and I've listed to a lot of loud music over the years. I always have a constant ring too. But don't notice it unless it's quiet. Or when I talk about it to someone then notice it... Thanks for letting me know.
Then eventually Kim Wilde herself would occasionally write a song and compose it all by herself. The song "Shangri La" is one of them she made up by herself and let me tell you, it's one incredible song!
im in love with wilde

for a song. but a great song for all that
from a talented and sexy lady.

true?

I think someone is pulling on your testicles. Course not.

for a song i suppose.

It sure would be. You'd certainly be safe from claims of lyrical plagiarism lol coz I cant imagine too many artists attempting it in the past.
