@megrune94 Because the Aimpoint is a CQB sight, not a long range sight. It's not even magnified. It's 2 MOA dot isn't very precise past 300m but I'm sure you could stretch that out to 400m if you had to. Why the brass catcher on the G3? Sanitary purposes? Every roller-delayed blowback rifle I've shot has beaten the brass up so badly that it can't be reloaded.
@Nater245689 This film is from the swedes.. They mount it to catch the shells because they dont want to go out picking up shells. We do not use this in Norway.
There is a reason we use iron sights for training mostly in Norway. So that you know how to use them correctly in case the batteries in the aimpoint fails.
@Skalmans750 It can still fail. It can get techincal difficulties, the way you set it correctly can fail so that it wont be on target. A EMP might inflict, causing the aimpoint to fail. You never know what can happen.
@megrune94 yes sure it can, but the advantages still overruns the disadvantages by far.
On the top of the Aimpoint you got a "iron sight" to use when fighting close combat using pure reflexes, its accurate enough fighting on shortrange. But i have to admit that it took some time to get used to the Aimpoint, now i can´t manage without it :)
In Norway, you get tought to shoot close combat with the front lid of the aimpoint closed and the back open. So that the red dot is on the target. I've only heard about it though, but I am probably testing out the aimpoint on the HK416 after christmas. Maybe I'll find it better than the regular ironsights :P
@megrune94 The Swedish aimpoint sight has a small clear window on the rear lid, so you don't even have to flip that one open (actually, you never really do unless it's fogged up). It's definitely better to have the front one open, but one day during training the weather was so horrible that we had to close the front lid between each shooting and sometimes we forgot to open it again.. Worked just fine even on ~50 meters since you use both eyes to shoot, and the red dot never moves.
@iJantsa Neither in Norway. You need to be a regular soldier, hired soldier (grenader) or be on a 3 year contract with the Home Guard Task Force to get a aimpoint or even a HK416.
@andromedarr i believe for what i see on the video that HE IS NOT SHOOTING PEOPLE... you should've realized that... its a completely different story if you are trying to hit a target but if i were in a range id still waste ammo like crazy just to have fun... and no my shoulder wouldnt break because im a fucking badass

@JackWorm75 There is a open sight on top of the aimpoint. And the force needed to knock off the aimpoint is considerble. Once you get used to the aimpoint it is rather nice.
@commybuster Removing the irons is a bad idea unless you're going to replace them with something else. That said, the CompM4 has a rail on top of it. I can't make it out very well, but it looks likes it's mounting some form of BUIS.

No The forward end clamps on the reciver and rearward end grips on the reciver frame. It was used before the picatinny rail was mounted. Google "AK4" and You´ll find some pictures.
waste of time to play sniper with G3 awesome spraying heavy assault rifle and if you want to switch from a Bandam weight to heavy weight>>> kick out the good old Great Grandpa BAR ...30.06 full auto !
About not holding the pistol grip.Cant say I ever heard about that trick, but everything that might twist the weapon a bit would affect accuracy. So did the heating of the barrel compared to a 5.56 weapon.I always wore glows on my left hand because when you went passed 40 rounds the plastic started to heat up to the point of it slightly burning your hand. That and we used to take a small branch of fir tree between the front plastic and the barrel to absorb some heat.
@cartuner555 Looks like a sand bag or maybe just a pouch filled with a few stones to weight it down a little bit and help reduce recoil and increase accuracy.
@0612Devil Considering how high the aimpoint is, there really was no reason to remove the original sights. But all that money for "modernizing" the rifles had to go somewhere, I suppose
maaaan, i woul like to live in America or any country who let you to have firearms like this, here in Romania you can have only pistols or hunting rifles, but very hard you get them, you need a lot of papers, etc you are not allowed to fire it in public, even if you are in a threat situation

I can't find the post you replied to, but I suppose you were talking about that little baggy thing
that collects empty shells. Could you give us some info on it?
Maybe a link or something? I've seen some "shell bags" before, but neither of them looked like this.
This G3 is interesting too. I see they screwed picattiny rails on the scope mounting holes.
The whole weapon is interesting, and it looks like a nifty heck of a good gun! ;)
You Swedish guys know how to live! :)

@JackWorm75 why would u collect shells?
xxxCRAZYLOVExxx 7 months ago
@xxxCRAZYLOVExxx Recycling in peace time, in war the collecting bag goes off

The casing catcher was cool.

@cartuner555 you most have pouch if its not war
82skinhead 1 year ago
@cartuner555 Looks like a sand bag or maybe just a pouch filled with a few stones to weight it down a little bit and help reduce recoil and increase accuracy.

JensTwn 1 year ago
BlackTiger112 1 year ago
JensTwn 1 year ago

Euro Military. Not American. Too bad they removed the irons to accommodate the Aimpoint.
0612Devil 2 years ago 4
I agree, I dont know why they removed the ironsights.
JackWorm75 2 years ago 4
@JackWorm75 to put the rail on top? im not sure if that would get in the way but maybe
MrKyleSchick 1 year ago
@0612Devil Considering how high the aimpoint is, there really was no reason to remove the original sights. But all that money for "modernizing" the rifles had to go somewhere, I suppose

Where do you get one of those brass catchers? I like the baggy style on this one.
kack28 2 years ago
I like it too, it really sucks picking up hot brass. then when your done you realize that you lost ten of them.
medugo2205 2 years ago
Its not-so-affectionally called "elephant scrotum" in some armed forces. :)
If I have to guess I'd say you can order it from an official Heckler Koch retailer somewhere.

maaaan, i woul like to live in America or any country who let you to have firearms like this, here in Romania you can have only pistols or hunting rifles, but very hard you get them, you need a lot of papers, etc you are not allowed to fire it in public, even if you are in a threat situation
alinbjj 2 years ago
In Romania you do not need many guns, your population has big balls and lots of bravery.
Look at what you did to Ceausescu!
Good job.
