ok, so did you see how the mini was bucking? that is a sign that she isnt too heavy. And if you are going to break in a pony for little kids to ride, who is going to do it? a 5 year old that will freak at the first sign of bucking/kicking and the mini knows it? no you need and experianced rider to do it. MOST ( not all) minis will object to being told what to do. its in their personality. it defines them. so yea, they will buck. all i hav 2 say.
haha omg that was too cute and funny. I had a little pony i was too big for when i went back to CA to visit my grandma. I jumped on her bareback,and we ran around the fields. I could pretty much walk or run with her my feet were almost touching the ground,but we both had alot of fun. :)

we work with a shelter and he is at a pound our rescue is aloud to rescue them once they're on the last day when they have to put them down after adoptions if not taken.
He though is on hold not heard from them for over a day on if he got adopted by the people who said they wanted him but if they don't he's mine why i say such a small chance i have my hopes to high because a PB GSD is of course gone and i not heard from the lady well my mom :\ but she hasn't got a message about it so He might have not been taken X3
it looks more like a shetland pony, shetlands are more sturdy , i broke on myself for my sister and he is a PERFECTLY good riding pony now with no injury's etc

Not the best idea - although the mini looks to be in decent shape and is bearing up under the rider's weight, this type of activity can contribute to joint and back problems - not to mention attitude problems about being ridden in the future...

ok people you have to understand that to break a mini an adult has to ride it. would you through your kids on it to break it? i don't think so. there is nothing wrong with that. trust me mini can handle alot more weight than you can think.
It wouldn't be able to buck if the rider was too heavy. I ride a Shetland cross that's just 11h and it carries my weight (125lbs) no problem. It bucked once when we went thrue a gate and it can do a plenty big spook with me on it. I'd rather it do that with me than put a kid on it before it's trained well enough. If a pony can balance with an adult it won't have any problem with an unbalanced kiddo :)

The dogs probly don't help. But if she was too much weight the pony wouldn't beable to rear like that. I have a 9hh pony that i ride daily and jump him. Some ppl seem to think it's not right..but if he wanted to (and has only done this once, i stayd on) he could launch himself strait into the air. They lady didn't seem to pull the pony off balence. It's fine for just trianign to ride for a child's horse.

I'm light enough to trail ride my bugger all over, he can carry about 150Lbs and i only weigh 96lbs plus i ride in a light saddle and i'm a light rider. I light rider is when you know how to distribute yourself over the horse so you actually feel alot lighter than you are. Iv'e also got very good posture and balance, If i was hurting my horse by rideing him he would be lame by now.

@cloggers11 You're right. Stocky ponies are very strong. The thing is, this is not a stocky pony. This is a miniature horse. They are entirely different breeds of horses with different breed specifications when it comes to bearing weight on their spine. Why do you think PONIES are used for children's riding? Because they can handle it due to their conformation. Children, who are much smaller than adults, are too heavy to be riding mini horses, so what makes this video of an adult okay?

This verges on animal abuse. A horse of that size is not built to carry the weight of an adult. This is not a Shetland Pony, a small but sturdy breed which can carry the weight of a small adult human. If by 'poney puls' you actually mean 'pony pulls', and you are comparing pulling a weight along the ground behind the pony to carrying a weight on the back of the pony, then you obviously failed physics (a subject some people study at school). I'm sure I'd be able to pull a rickshaw with three fat men in it, but I wouldn't want to try and carry one of them on my back.

The dogs probly don't help. But if she was too much weight the pony wouldn't beable to rear like that. I have a 9hh pony that i ride daily and jump him. Some ppl seem to think it's not right..but if he wanted to (and has only done this once, i stayd on) he could launch himself strait into the air. They lady didn't seem to pull the pony off balence. It's fine for just trianign to ride for a child's horse.

@bailyandme Sorry but people ride ponies to train them all the time and make great money in it. I'm light enough to trail ride my bugger all over, he can carry about 150Lbs and i only weigh 96lbs plus i ride in a light saddle and i'm a light rider. I light rider is when you know how to distribute yourself over the horse so you actually feel alot lighter than you are. Iv'e also got very good posture and balance, If i was hurting my horse by rideing him he would be lame by now.

I dont think thats fair to make a pony carry you and have a bunch of dogs chasing after it. I'm sure he/she was fine, but it was probably was pretty uncomfortable. This is why ponies end up having behavioral problems. People treat them as toys instead of the horses they really are.

Minis are a strong breed, if they werent riding for that long then the horse is fine, like wings754 said they use to pull carts that weighed a lot. If the mini had to much weight on his back think he couldve bucked like that?
